A little late, but this thing is amazing. Paired it with a Samsung q800f soundbar and subwoofer (my q990f surround sound arrives next week).

I am really impressed with this TV - coming from a LG OLED C9 77" from 2019 with some burn in... Thanks to this sub for helping with the decision!

Long story short, TCL sucks.

My wife's friends bought us a TCL TV last December from Costco, and it worked fine for about 6 months. It came with a long manufacturer's warranty, and they also purchased an additional Allstate warranty on it, I believe.

Two weeks ago, it started turning off after just a couple seconds. I tried the usual fixes like unplugging it for a minute, plugging it into a different outlet, etc. Still didn't work.

We loaded it into the car, and my wife and her friends took it back to Costco. Unfortunately, electronics purchased more than 90 days ago can't be returned in-store, and instead, we'd have to go through the warranty process.

I called Costco warranty support. They connected me to TCL support. TCL support asked for the serial number, so I read it aloud. They repeated it back and got the second half wrong. They asked my zip code and repeated it back. They got the second half wrong. In the end, they said I needed to try turning the TV on while the batteries are out of the remote. So my wife and I unloaded it from the car and tried. Still failing.

I called TCL support again. They said they'd need a video from me and would email me a link I could use to submit. They asked for my email address. I told them it's my first and last name at gmail dot com and then I spelled it out.

Three days later. Still no email. We went back to Costco and the return agent in the store called warranty support. We waited on hold together for 30 minutes. After getting connected, the TCL agent asked for my email address. I gave it again and they said oops, we had the wrong email address. They'll send an email to the right address. I asked them to send one now to confirm but they said no.

Seven days later. I got an email from TCL saying my case was closed due to lack of activity. So we said heck no. I emailed TCL and told them I never got the promised email. They replied and said they needed a video of the TV showing the problem and all four corners of the TV to verify that it hasn't been damaged. So I took a video and sent them a Google drive link.

Two days later. No response. We lugged it back to Costco and told them to deal with it. There's clearly no warranty from TCL. They said no and had me call TCL again. I waited on hold for 30 minutes in the store. TCL people watched my video while I waited and then said they'd need a second video.

My wife got frustrated and left. I followed her. We just left the TV there. It was broken, and no one had any intention of helping us resolve this.

One day later. TCL emailed me a link to upload documentation. The link didn't work and the list of required documentation was empty.

Just moved into a new house and I've been going back and forth on what replacement I should get for my venerable 50" LG plasma. After seeing some demos in person I kind of fell in love with a 98" high end TCL that was on display. (I don't remember the model but it was higher than even the CM9K.)

Best Buy has the 85" QM9K on a deep discount for $1999, while they have the 98" QM7K for a hundred dollars less at $1899.

While I love the idea of the enormous screen, I think I'm leaning toward the QM9K. My reasoning is that I'm coming from a much smaller plasma, so I'll already notice the size difference, and it seems like the QM9K will provide much better contrast and brightness due to all the extra zones.

My room is about 16 feet across from wall to wall, but my seating space is a big sectional couch so that lessens the distance somewhat.

Any thoughts on this, or are there other options I should be considering? Use case will be mixed between movies and games. I also considered an LG OLED, but for my budget I would have to drop to 77", and honestly that big TCL really popped on the showroom floor.

EDIT: I went back and actually measured the viewing distance, and it's a maximum of 13 feet from the very furthest position. I get what you guys are saying with the bigger one, I'm just a bit wary of the trade-off.

Purchased an open box 98qm8k that doesn’t have the legs. I’ve searched high and low online for them and everywhere is out of stock and none available I can find on eBay (no sellers have them or confirm their listing works).

Hoping someone on here that wall mounted their tv has them laying around and will part with them. Thanks!!!

First time I’ve ever had a £500 tv, any tips with settings as im quite overwhelmed with them haha

We've had our qm851g for about a year now. Loved this TV with its big booming bass, but around the time that the last update came out, the sound quality really deteriorated. It took me a while to realize that the woofers didn't seem to be firing, particularly on the new "Intelligent" sound mode.

If I switch between standard and intelligent, the classic bass that I recall this TV bearing when we first got it comes back. It rather quickly dissipates though.

In standard mode, I've tried increasing the bass but it doesn't have the same presence that it used to.

Any others experienced this? TCL warranty is offering to cut us a cheque for the value of the TV, which is fair, but it's a tough one to walk away from. It almost seems like a software induced issue.

Hi all! My mom needs a new tv but it needs to fit a custom entertainment center that she loves and is gorgeous. The dimensions of the box are 52.5 wide and 30.25 high.

I am trying to figure out how much clearance 4k and up televisions actually need for cooling. There is plenty of room behind it, so it’s a matter of whether how much, if any space is needed around the edges.

If they breathe through the rear and the sides can butt up against each side of the box then I can get a 55” tv in there. Otherwise I’ll need to step down.

I have a new TCL 65QM5K, and I'm trying to control it using voice commands via my Nest Hub. Most commands work fine; I can power on/off, control volume, and launch apps. What I can't do is get it to play content, like a specific TV channel via YouTube TV.

For example, this voice command, "Watch CNN from YouTube TV on [name_of_tv]"

- if I press the mic button on the remote and say that command, it works fine

- if I say "Hey Google" and then say that command to my Nest Hub, it doesn't work; it eventually responds with "Sorry, I don't understand."

To repeat though, the power, volume control, and app launching commands all work fine even when I issue them via the Nest Hub.

If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this, I would appreciate it.

After a recent TCL update on my R615, my Nvidia Shield would sometimes appear off color and distorted. After researching I found out this was a handshake issue between the TV and Shield.

The most recommended action was to factory reset the TV which worked for most people but didn’t work for me. The actual solution which I ended up finding on a TCL forum was to switch to the Shield HDMI input not by using the quick access menu like I had been, but to use the input switcher on the left menu.

Now when I want to use my Shield I use the left menu to access the input. This has seemed to work for me so far and I wanted to post this in case someone else has this issue as well.

Hi everybody! I purchased a 98QM6K pro back in early June. It has probably always been there, but I only noticed it this week when I got really close to tv and natural light was present in the morning.

At dead center of the TCL logo on frame, beginning from bottom bezel, there is about 1-2 pixel width of line in the panel that is not uniform with the rest of the screen. The line extends vertically to about halfway up the panel. You can really only notice it at specific angles, in the right light, but it is definitely a line.

The line has zero effect on pixels when TV is on, but I was told any non uniformity in panel suggests a weakening of the panel that can eventually (possibly) develop dead pixels and effect screen while tv is on.

I am well within Costco’s 90 day exchange, but it is a bit of a pain with the size of the TV. The panel is also flawless in a DSE test, so I’m hoping if exchanged I get lucky once again.

Has anyone with a 98 or 85 inch QM6k or QM6K Pro noticed anything like this? TCL stated anything that is not uniform on panel is considered defective. Just reaching out before new TV arrives and the exchange is processed.

I literally can’t get a picture of the defect because my camera won’t pick it up.

I bought this TV about a month ago, and I just can't seem to find this app in the Plat Store or on the TV itself. I've seen that it's available on other Google TVs, like Thomson models. Is anyone else having this problem?

The C7k 65 inch is out of stock where I live (UK) so I'm choosing between these two.

Can get the C6K for £630 and the C8K for £1150. Main use case is watching TV shows and occasional movies and sports.

Is it worth the extra for me? Coming from a cheap 42 inch LG from 2021 either will be a huge upgrade I imagine.

Please tell me this isn’t one of those TVs that limits which apps I can download. I just had Best Buy deliver it. Went thru hell getting into bedroom I needed. Then out of box and waiting forever for setup only to see the search won’t find paramount plus

What happened: Alexa recognized TCL TV and added device to its device list. When enabling the TCL assistant skill in alexa, it tries to bind the account and opens a webpage called ai.tclking.com, but it shows a blank screen.

Without the skill I cannot control the TV. Does anyoneusing alexa smart home know how to fix this?

Moved into a new place that has the wall and setback necessary for a 98” monster. Coming from an 83” G2 which was fantastic, but I want bigger. Thing is, I detest blooming & halos. This year seems to be the first year that LCD/LED TVs have gotten this under control.

For mixed use (YouTube, Blu-ray movies, streaming, casual gaming) in a mixed use area, with a moderately bright space, but the wall where it will go generally doesn’t get direct sunlight.

We have an Apple TV & a PS5 Pro. I generally don’t connect TVs to the internet, so the onboard “smart” software doesn’t matter to me. TV speakers also don’t matter to me since we have a full Sonos setup.

Budget is 10,000 USD, but will likely wait until Black Friday for good deals.

The contenders:

TCL X11L (MSRP 10k USD)

Pros: insane dimming zone count, effectively no blooming (from what I saw in person & from reviews), stupidly over engineered TV, high end build materials.

Cons: ugly chin (sound-bar) design, motion processing issues (at least according to Reddit which might just be the echo chamber effect)?

TCL RM9L (8k USD)

Pros: No ugly chin, decent dimming zone count (5600 effective zones, 16000 color zones), colors pop due to RGB LED tech

Cons: first gen tech — TCL seems to be downplaying this tech, which makes me wary. Also motion processing issues?

Sony Bravia 7 II (9k USD)

Pros: Sony’s processing tech (superior motion handling?)

Cons: much higher potential for blooming issues, 2x 2.1 HDMI (really, Sony?), outdated bezel design (minor point, but still), first gen tech

LG G5 97 (best price 14k USD)

Pros: it’s OLED

Cons: 5 year old panel tech at a huge premium, brightness, burn-in anxiety.

Recently bought this TV during a sale since our previous one crapped out. It’s in our master bedroom and we only watch at night.

This TCL QM5K is extremely bright, and I want to make it the opposite, low dim. It’s not as simple as just turning the brightness level down.

The last TV we had, it had some type of nighttime mode or something. Very low dim.

Any settings or ideas to help me out?
