Hello! Got a question, will 85 inch be too much for this space? Aprox 2.95m/9.67ft distance

Going to get qm8k, price difference isn't a problem, just wondering do I need to downgrade to 75 inch for the esthetics. Thanks!

What's the best 98" right now for less than $4k?

Upvotes

Best 98" for less than $4k right now? Was looking at the qm8k, but now the qm9k is $500 cheaper....is the 8k better or something?

Dedicated room for movie use, no games, no sports. Coming from a previous 150" projector in a previous home and tired of the hassle of dealing with a pj and it's lackluster pop. Really want a 100" oled but it's stupid money.

Suggestions?

Thx

TCL P8L 98 vs TCL QM64L 98

What's the difference between these two sets? I know they have different operating systems, but in Canada the price for P8L is 2300 CAD regular price and QM64L is 2800 CAD (3000 CAD regular price).

QM6K Pro from Costco and QM7L Pro my opinion after living with both

Upvotes

They both look awesome and you all gaslit me into paying 1200 more for the 7L pro in 98 inch.

Super happy with both but for my use they both look awesome, just thought I’d share. In my home in a real environment the blacks look great on both and leave me wanting for nothing. They’re both bright but if you leave a super bright ceiling light pointing directly at it, you’ll still see a reflection.

Windows and ambient lights is crushed by the brightness on both. Google TV is works better than the Roku ecosystem I upgraded from.

Anyone knows any good speakers to go with the TCL QM9K (85 inches)?

Upvotes

I’m moving to Florida from NY into a flat house that has a big open bright living room and I’m buying the TCL QM9K 85 inches and I want to fit a soundbar on my tv storage stand but the TV’s stand is right in the middle, covering where I would put a soundbar so a soundbar can’t happen. So I’m looking for TV speakers that’s as good as a soundbar (my budget is $1200-$1300). I was gonna go with the TCL Z100’s but I did my research and it isn’t good for big open concept rooms (you all know how big open concepts flat houses are in Florida). I’d put 2 speakers in front (left and right of tv) and an optional 2 in the back of my sectional (only if the front 2 speakers aren’t good enough then I’ll find a way to put 2 behind where we sit). I don’t want to wall mount the TV because it’s too much $$$ to do so plus I don’t have family members that are handy and can do it for me. I’m in the process of doing my research plus asking this question on here.

Is this common? Screen melted

So I’ve had this 85” tcl qled for about 3years. Today it finally bit the dust. It was working fine one moment and then glitched out. Then I noticed this in the corner. At first I thought there was a crack like something hit it, then when I got up close it looks like it melted???

It’s this a thing??? I’ve never had this happen on a tv before.

Please Help: Grayed out top and bottom when watching movies in Dolby vision

Very weird issue in the DV movie with translucent bars on the top and bottom that match the exact size of letterbox scenes, which is suspicious.

Where do I find the current QM8K software update info?

I feel like I keep seeing posts about software updates but I'm not receiving them. I'm in the US with a 65QM8K showing software version V8-0012T02-LF1V321.001899.

From what I remember, V321 is pretty outdated and checking for system updates yields no results.

Just bought a display model 98qm8k from Best Buy.

Was $2200 OTD with 5 year extended warranty.

I feel like I got an amazing deal…but as someone who never gets good deals on anything, I need some positive reinforcement 🤣🤣🤣

Excited to throw this in the home theater!

First Look at the 85” TCL RM9L RGB Mini LED in Our New UK Office

We’ve finally moved into our new UK office, which means I’ll now have access to more TVs for hands-on testing, comparisons and future content.

The main attraction, though, is in the showroom: the 85” TCL RM9L RGB Mini LED. Ideally we would have a X11L but they're currently out for review.

I first saw the RM9L at TCL’s European launch event in Paris in colossal 115", but having the 85” model set up in the office means I can finally spend more time with it properly.

The 85RM9L combines RGB Mini LED, up to 4,000 nits peak brightness, 8,736 colour-control zones and 100% BT.2020 colour coverage. It also supports native 144Hz, HDMI 2.1, VRR and FreeSync Premium Pro, with audio tuned by Bang & Olufsen.

The signage still says "QLED"... but don't let that fool you (check the stand).

The showroom is still a work in progress, so there are a few leftovers from our previous office. I've not had a chance to fully revamp everything yet, but that's next on the list.

Hopefully it won't be long before the whole space reflects the 2026 line-up properly.

Other models still include

75" C7K

98" Q7C

55" A300

Last week's update broke VRR on my TCL 55Q6C-UK QD TV

So the latest week I noticed a notification that there was an firmware update for my, TCL 55Q6C-UK QD-Mini LED TV.

After the update a few days later I noticed that the VRR and ALLM didn't appear to be working on my Living room Steam Gaming PC (running Bazzite) any more which it had been working without issue for ages.

I have the Game Master mode set to Auto in the options and it always used to auto enable this mode and give me a notification on the screen that is was turned on when my PC used to load into Steam but now that doesn't happen. In the Game Master panel it states that both VRR and ALLM are turned on but in the information bar at the top of the screen (when you have the Game Master panel up on the screen) there is no information displayed next to ALLM or VRR just HDR say 'ON' next to it, before the TV update ALLM would say 'ON' next to it and VRR would display the current screen refresh/Frame Rate but now nothing.

I have tried changing Game Master mode from Auto to Enable for the HDMI input, Turning Game Master Mode Off and then back On. changing the HDMI form 2.1 to 1.4 and even resetting all the settings back to factory default but nothing seems to fix the issue.

Has anyone else noticed the VRR feature being broken since the last TV update?

Dead Pixel?

older TCL TV, I’ve had it for around 4-5 years if i had to guess, maybe more.

55” 4k HDR

I just noticed what appears to be a dead pixel or two right in the middle upper part of my tv…

I would just like confirmation that they are indeed dead pixels. Ive tried all the different ways to test it & the black spot/line still shows on everything I tried.

Thanks in advance👍🏽

Google TV antenna EPG/Program guide?

I picked up a 40S350G, the Google equipped S3, and am an antenna viewer for live television. Is there not a native/TCL program guide on these sets? Or does it rely solely on the OS's Live tab with all its clutter and lack of customizing (like removing sources and unwanted channels). I also have a Sony with Google TV, and it has its own EPG, but can't seem to find anything like that on this TCL.

Also if it in fact doesn't, does the same apply to the higher tier TCL's? I was counting on going with a QM7 or 8 when I eventually replace my Sony, but that may be a showstopper for me if so.

HDR performance on the C6K

Hi there. I’ve had the TCL C6K for a week now. Overall, I’m happy with it, but I do have one concern. Do you think TCL’s HDR performance is adequate for platforms like Netflix and Disney+? I was thinking about returning it and spending more on a higher-end model, but I’m not sure if the extra cost and the hassle of the return process are worth the difference in the viewing experience. I’m not a stickler for perfection—I don’t scrutinize every dark area to check the level of detail—but I do enjoy a good picture and watch a lot of HDR movies. So, do you think the actual experience would be vastly different with, say, a C7K or a C7L? Or would I just end up feeling foolish, thinking, "Honestly, I don't notice much of a difference"? Thanks a lot!

115RM9L delivered!

Best Buy delivered my tv today and can’t stop watching it. It’s currently sitting on a Salamander Chicago 245 stand, but will soon move to a wall mount. Just wanted to have Best But deliver it and power it on before they left to verify no damage. Took four of us to bring it in the house, unbox and assemble it, then take it downstairs to be placed on the stand.

So far I’m incredibly happy with it, even though it only been a few hours. More testing and and playing with the setting to follow.

Just installed v655 update on C7K by USB. Any idea what it is meant to improve?

Haven't really noticed anything. Only improvement I want is a cure for the raised black bars on movies.

55QM5K sporadic no audio on apps?

Hey all, purchased a 55QM5K a few weeks ago and all has been good. I’ve noticed though some apps like Netflix or Disney+ the audio goes in and out. Can go for minutes with no audio then all the sudden it just starts working. This happens with the native TV audio as well as our sound bar connected through an optical cable. We are on the latest and greatest firmware for the TV as well. Has anyone experienced this audio issue before? Holding the power button the remote and selecting restart fixes the audio issue, but that’s going to be annoying every time to restore audio. This cannot be a permanent fix??

Using VESA extension brackets with Sanus VLT7-B2 for an 85" TCL QM9K?

I recently purchased an 85" TCL QM9K and a Sanus VLT7-B2 mount for my basement.

Sanus VLT7-B2:
https://www.amazon.com/SANUS-Advanced-Premium-Bracket-Screen/dp/B09CR75TRR

I did not realize until installation that the Sanus mount only supports up to a 600 × 400 VESA pattern, while the 85" QM9K uses 600 × 500 VESA. Because of that, the vertical mounting rails are not long enough to reach the bottom screw holes on the TV.

I really like the VLT7 because its scissor mechanism allows the TV to pull out about 6 inches for easier cable access without using a full-motion mount.

I am considering these VIVO vertical VESA extension brackets:

https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Vertical-Extender-Designed-MOUNT-AD165/dp/B0B197RHSY/?th=1

Has anyone used VESA extension brackets with a Sanus VLT7-B2 to mount an 85" TV with a 600 × 500 VESA pattern?

Would the extension brackets still hold the TV securely, or would they create too much additional leverage on the mounting rails?

Has anyone successfully used this type of adapter on a large, heavy TV, or would it be safer to exchange the mount for one that natively supports 600 × 500?

Ty.
