How are you eating?

The way that Jax’s character holds a mirror up to my life is honestly so jarring.

There’s been this huge, what feels like unnecessary debate that I won’t even iterate because I don’t want to add to it.

But my favorite character is being watered down, whether intentionally or not, and that’s sucks.

Hearing about Jax’s past with his father. These unlivable expectations. Her father’s untimely absence, followed by Jax’s mother relying heavily on her for both an emotional punching bag, and emotional support. Feels so..familiar.

The berating and humiliating She’d faced, for simply not living up to his mother’s expections.

Those expectations being \*impossible.\* for Jax to meet, due to her own struggles with identity, the fact she shouldn’t have ever had to, and the role being one she could never logically fill. It hurts how common an experience it is. It hurts how much I saw my own experience in it.

Jax’s regret towards what She did to his mom before entering the circus, the fact She will \*never\* know that he infact didn’t, kill his mom. The confusion and guilt She’d carried every single day for God knows how many years.

It’s not right, but i understand why she pushed Ribbit away at the first hint of sharing too much. Why he shut down over the affection Ribbit or anyone else offered.

Because, when Jax reached out to his mother for that same kind of affection, it was met with mocking and berating. Physical affection was forced as a way to control the situation. He simply couldn’t believe that wasn’t happening again. So he had to make sure he did it first.

I wish we got to see a world where Jax didn’t hesitate when going to talk to Pomni, or where Pomni grabbed his hand to stop him.

But I think the abruptness of it all actually makes it even more painfully realistic.

Jax’s story held up a mirror to my own life, so much so I’ve started exploring a door I didn’t even remember was there until after watching the finale.

The title felt even more jarring as the pieces started clicking as I took my time to understand the portion of Jax I was most confused about.

People say relating to Jax makes you a bad person, but I think those people lack empathy (if they can make bold statements, so can I). Jax is deeply misunderstood, and I understand him.

Ahh..Jax..they could never make me hate you.

Wanted to do a more circus horror vibe

I just can't believe anyone in the circus is actually going to be happy in the long run. Sure, they've accepted their situation and learned how to make the best of it, but that's only because they don't really have another choice. Right now they still have adventures, DnD, and Caine coming up with new things to do, but even that has to get old after a few months with nothing else to do.

They're trapped there for hundreds, maybe even thousands, of years with the same six people. After a few years you've done every adventure, had every conversation, played every game, and heard every joke a thousand times. I don't care how optimistic you are, eventually the boredom alone would drive anyone insane.

The ending wants to feel hopeful, but to me it just delays the inevitable. I can't imagine an existence like that ending any other way than with everyone eventually abstracting. Even if it takes years, infinite time means they'll reach that breaking point sooner or later.

And I think it'd happen much sooner than most people think. In a world with no sleep, no hunger, no real responsibilities, and no way to truly change your life, every distraction would eventually lose its appeal. Once you've gone on your thousandth adventure, played every game imaginable, and had every conversation a hundred times over, what do you have left?

hi! i feel like this video talks about something i don't see many people many people saying (at least from my own looking online): that jax's character development was fine BUT everyone else's characters being wholly unbelievable and not fleshed out throughout the show reflects incredibly poorly on the show and this final episode as a whole

i think that everything that happened in the finale was completely fine (in regards to jax), but should not have been the end all be all that served as the final nail in the coffin of the show

i compare it to severance and danganronpa, which i think do good jobs at a separated from the world premise!! so idk if you watch it, thank you. if you just want to appreciate the art, thank you. i was drawing this at the store and one of the workers was staring at me so maybe you're here on this sub and you'll get to see the final piece

If you somehow don’t know, “Don’t Turn On The Light” is a music video bye BlackGryph0n that focuses on the backstory of Kinger, and actually has his original voice actor. Over all, at least from what I had heard, people were saying that this was just another cringe new tadc fan song, which honestly is valid when you listen to the chorus, but it’s definitely no ”Jax’s Requiem“. Still, I decided to not listen to it, believing what the internet had told me. However, just recently I finally decided listen to it, expecting the worst… AND BOY DID THAT SONG HIT ME HARD. Not only is the song other than the chorus absolute cinema, but I could kind of relate, which made it so much better. Now, I don’t have dementia. I’m way too young for that. But I do struggle with something called absent seizures, and I struggle with remembering things sometimes. Btw, I’m about to rant about my seizures and stuff so if you’re not interested in that or just wanna skip to the part where I talk about my opinion on the song, I totally get it. I’ve put a big all caps title down there for when I actually start talking about it. If you don’t know what an absent seizure is, you should look it up but in simple terms it’s basically when you have a staring spot, but you can’t remember anything during that little episode. For some people it’s different. For some people it lasts a second, for others a whole minute. For me I’ve had to deal with it for several years and how it effects me has changed over time and thankfully, with medical help, we‘re working on getting rid of it. It has also come with some side effects over the years like migraines and, like I said before, forgetfulness, but that’s been more rare over time. What use to be excruciating migraines every two weeks is now a slight headache every month or so. Last thing about me, I swear I’ll get to the actual song after this. So although the seizures have now gotten so unnoticeable that my mom hasn’t been able to point them out for like two or three years, the doctors need to not be able to detect a single seizure for a whole 24 hour period in order for me to drive. And I’m turning 16!! Now although they aren’t noticeable to us, they apparently are very noticeable to the doctors’ magical seizure detecting machine!🫪 So yea. Not driving any time soon. But hopefully this now almost 9 year journey of suffering will come to an end. Btw if you read all this, you are so awesome, thank you for taking the time to listen to me yap! Anyway, back to the song.

THIS IS WHERE I START TALKING ABOUT THE SONG AGAIN!!!

While, yes, the chorus was kinda mid, I actually didn’t mind it too much and every other part of the song is so peak! Especially the end. Not only did it sound good, but the animation was cinema! It looked exactly like the show and I think how the story telling was shown through the animation was perfect! Scratch’s abstraction was done super well And the circus turning into the butterflies part??? Why doesn’t anyone talk about that part?!? Overall this is such an underrated AND overhated song!
