[Suggestion] Looking for a windows PC solely for work (Steam machine?)

I currently have an extremely capable gaming PC. Problem is my gaming PC runs linux, and none of my work software works on linux. I am on a hybrid work schedule so I work from home 2 days a week, on a crappy laptop. I do have a dual boot for windows but I want to be able to have both workstations running at once. My monitor has a KVM switch so it really should be easy enough If i just get another computer, and I'd rather just separate my work from personal PC anyways.

Really I just want the work computer to be compact and under/around $1000, plus be way overqualified for the things I do for work. My current PC takes up enough space, I dont want a second one this size, so it has to be moderately smaller.

I've been really interested in the Steam Machine. It would be worse performance wise than my gaming Pc, so i'd be installing windows on the steam machine and using it for mostly work, but I like the form factor of it, and I do like having the capability of playing games / using it as a normal pc if needed. I know i probably can buy a piece of junk for work but I'm kind of a snob with PC things and I want to know that my PC can handle anything I throw at it.

What options do I have aside from the steam machine? Value wise is the steam machine worth it? What if i built a similar spec computer as compact as that? Basically I want to throw $700-1000 on a very solid PC that I can use for most things. I don't need it to game at the highest quality because I have my gaming PC, but i want it to be able to handle most games if I need it to, and I want it to be compact and not take up too much space.

Struggling on what to do with buying my first pc [discussion]

So over the past year or so i've been really wanting to buy a pc but I really don't know exactly what to do?

I kind of mostly want it for games haha but it would be helpful for school, so i don't need/want anything super high end or insanely good because I have a PlayStation that i can play like high demanding games on (?).

I don't have the money for something great, I'm on a £200 budget which honestly probably isn't gonna take me far with buying a PC but it really is all i have for it 😭😂 A family member suggested pcpartpicker uk to me and it does seem like what I might be looking for?

But, and idk people's opinions on this it might be highly suggested against, but i've been looking at buying some second hand pcs? I've only looked at vinted lol but i'ce only really looked there because I just don't know if i should be looking into second hand pcs anywhere else or at all

Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated lol thanks

hi! i am looking for something specific and i guess im just looking for advice on prebuilt brands at this point. i want a ryzen 7 7800x3d or a comparable amd cpu, a 9070xt with 16gb ram, 1tb+ ssd, and 32gb ddr5. totally fine with used if it seems okay. i found this one from andromeda that looks really good for the price & they have a nice warranty policy but i havent heard of the brand much. i am somewhat willing to go to microcenter in miami but i found nothing on there in my price range so i doubt anyone else will. thank u so much in advance!!
