Fox and Krystal's relationship honestly never got much development.

In Adventures, they barely interact throughout the game. In Assault, they do get a few moments together, but I'd argue the chemistry Fox developed with Wolf ended up overshadowing almost everything else. And let's not even get started on the mess that was Command.

That said, to be fair, Star Fox has always had pretty simple writing. The characters have generally stood out more because of their individual charisma than because of their relationships or group dynamics.

As much as we want to reduce Pigma to bacon for his disturbing greed and lack of empathy towards Fox regarding his treachery towards James (thought the aparoids did just that), how do you overall feel of him as a villain. Don't just say, "I HATE HIM SO MUCH I WANT TO STAB HIM TO DEATH", etc. Just say something like "A well written villain who's entertainingly evil as it makes shooting him down all the more fun."

For me, I've dealt with so many worse villains out in cartoons, anime, etc, that may make Pigma seem more tolerable. I found him to be a "love to hate" kind of villain, I found him entertaining, yet also take pleasure in chasing after him in those dogfights, His new 2026 look and voice took some getting used to, but after seeing the Switch 2 walkthroughts, I'd say Mick Lauer is amazing as Pigma.

Like, why is Venom a Star Fox only operation?

Some say that in the business world, any attention is good attention, but that didn’t really help in Zero’s case ironically. With that said, I think that they helped the reputation. People were talking all about it, it was a huge craze! People wanted to give them a chance, while some were vicious. In the end, though I can’t speak for everyone, the new designs grown on me for sure! I live how expressive and lively each character is. I feel like I can truly connect with the characters unlike ever before. If Nintendo just used the Zero designs, no one would talk much about it, and some might even be put off because of Zero was such a tumultuous experience. I know that is a bit of a hot take, but that is just the way I see it.

In case you didn't know, just recently, Miyamoto, the legendary, one-in-a-million creator of Star Fox, Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, and the world-famous Mole Mania, made a statement as to why Nintendo chose to remake Star Fox 64 (and Ocarina of Time by extension) and implicitly explained why they retold Star Fox's story again and again and again.

He said:
“Some people might say there are a lot of remakes, but after five years, a lot of people have outgrown games and stop playing them. Young people today don’t have the opportunity to play games from 10 years ago, so remaking them to be more playable and releasing them again is a good way to meet the demand.”

In my opinion, though Star Fox 64 is a really great game, but I know a lot of people who just don't like playing N64 games because of how poorly they aged. I honestly never really cared about playing the N64 game when I grew up with the 3DS game. In any case, I think that if anyone is going to be introduced to the franchise in any way, Star Fox 64's gameplay and story is the way to do it obviously. I think that this remake did exactly what it was supposed to do, which was by making it feel modern without touching any of the core design. Some might disagree, but this remake essentially just outclassed the original by feeling way more cinematic and polished. This is the type of game that many people will take seriously and the Star Fox series in general. Star Fox Zero was essentially a compromise trying to do this exact same thing too with new gameplay, but regardless of how you feel about the game, whether you think it was over-hated or if it deserves the reputation it got, the fact of the matter is that it sold less than half a million units in a drought despite Nintendo's Wii U consistently having high-performing games that usually sell at least a million units, making this a huge failure for Wii U standards. Nintendo had no choice but reintroduce the series again. Though that hiatus was a dire time to be a Star Fox fan, I feel confident in Nintendo's ability to continue forward from the groundwork that they are currently setting up and am very hopeful that these new fans will help generate more interest in this series so that it will move forward. I think putting our feelings aside, for a moment, most Nintendo fans today have likely never played Star Fox Adventures or Assault and know the status of the whole series, so continuing after that point in the story would be ill-advised. The exciting thing is that Nintendo is taking story seriously in this remake, so the world will likely be much more developed in upcoming games and truly follow these events. I think the frustrating thing for me as a Nintendo fan is when Nintendo makes a new game and it doesn't respect the prior continuity established; this was especially bad in Pikmin 4. So, maybe Nintendo is doing something different now, which is very promising for this series!

Incidentally, I am curious where he gets the impression that most people leave gaming behind after 5-10 years later. There is something about that disposable mentality that is kinda concerning. The way I see it, games can and should introduce us to new experiences that extend far beyond what we can do in reality, and that type of experience is so unique that it shouldn't just last in one period. Minecraft is the perfect example for this. Though I haven't played it, MineCraft has stayed relevant because of the experience anyone can have with it at any time. Of course, he probably understands metrics better than we ever could, and it might just be the case that most people do abandon gaming when they have more responsibilities, which makes total sense. I am guessing with the Switch 2, they are trying to put as much of their well-known titles on one console so that they can "meet the demand". The point I want to make is that I wished that they designed games more with longevity in mind, as this statement implies otherwise. At the very least, it means good things for fans of Adventures and Assault at some point I feel like, even if it won't be soon.

With the remake of 64, I've been considering how, barring Zero/Guard, Star Fox is composed of two timelines both of which split from Star Fox 1/64. This is a headcanon and not official, by the way. I'm just trying to consolidate this into two timelines with some hypotheticals if SF 64 is true for all timelines.

Timeline 1 (Venomian Empire)

Star Fox goes through the easy route, with Fox rescuing Slippy from Titania before going through Bolse and Venom 1. Due to going through Bolse, Andross was able to prepare his escape, having Fox fight merely a robot. Due to this, Star Fox returns to Corneria seemingly winning the war, but Andross retains his fleets as well as the industrial base of Macbeth. He's able to rebuild before launching a second and more dangerous war against Corneria.

This leads into Star Fox 2 where Star Fox hires two newcomers, Miyu and Fay, to help assist the team in putting Andross to rest for good. Star Fox succeeds, shooting down and killing all four members of Star Wolf: Wolf, Leon, Pigma, and Algy (Andrew was pulled off by Andross to be his successor). They then kill Andross for real. However, Andrew still remains and will attempt to revive the empire. This would lead into an alternate Assault where Andrew is not usurped by the Aparoids and is the main villain throughout. In this timeline, Fox doesn't have a girlfriend (unless we consider Fara Phoenix from the comics canon).

Timeline 2 (Echoes of Cerinia)

Star Fox does the hard route of 64, meeting up with Katt in Zoness and destroying much of the Venomian military. Fox kills Andross on Venom 2 and returns a hero. The remnants of Venom's forces decides to hide in the jungles of Fortuna, which is officially a nature preserve planet.

However, even though he died, Andross's ghost remains through the same force that James McCloud was able to return as a ghost to guide Fox out of Andross's base. Andross's ghost goes to Sauria, a planet he scoped earlier for his back-up plan should he be killed. However, going to Sauria took all of Andross's energy and he had to wait to appear again.

In the eight years following the Lylat Wars, Star Fox is broke while Falco leaves and reconnects with Katt. Fox gets a request from General Pepper to save Sauria from its self-destruction and investigate. Little did he know that earlier, a blue vixen from the lost planet of Cerinia had arrived earlier to investigate by herself only to get trapped. Fox McCloud aids the dinosaurs in their fight against the tyrant General Scales of the SharpClaws. But as Fox collects Krazoa Spirits and SpellStones, he doesn't realize that he and Scales were both deceived. Andross purposefully arranged General Scales's conquest entirely to get Fox McCloud to investigate and have him retrieve the Krazoa Spirits to save Krystal, knowing his good heart. Scales was just a useful idiot for Andross. With Andross somewhat revived (probably wanted to be more than just a head and hands again), Fox, Krystal, and Falco (who returns) defeat Andross, killing him for good this time.

One year later, Krystal has joined Star Fox while Peppy retires to be their commander and strategist as he's getting older but still wants to be useful. Andrew Oikonny, now 26 years old and with more experience/charisma, rallies the Venomian remnants to fight a guerilla war against Corneria, luring them into a trap over his base on Fortuna (which has been turned into a massive factory for his war effort). Star Fox helps and defeats Andrew easily, however, the Aparoids steals their kill. The Aparoids then pose a massive threat to the Lylat system, almost wiping out the Saurians and Cornerians before they're finally defeated by Fox McCloud (Falco, Slippy, and Krystal help in phase 1 against the queen).

Two years later, Star Fox has disbanded and the Anglars invade a decimated Corneria. This one ends however you'd want.

The Zero Question

The issue with Zero is that its version of the Lylat Wars is different enough that it's hard to place in an existing timeline. Why Nintendo screws with the timeline and story in a franchise that could handle both is beyond me.

In all fairness, this device I'm using can be used to cheat in Multiplayer. I do not do this. I'm an avid StarCitizen fan and have multiple Joysticks laying around the house. I wanted to play the new Starfox campaign in first person with a flight stick. Maybe Reddit will appreciate this a little more?

The video was at 3AM using the bot matches to calibrate the dead zones, not online. I did setup a script to just hold fire instead of having to repeatedly tap the fire button, again not for MP matches. I use my controller for that.

Edit 7/23/26 3:31PM CST: Some people are posting here on this thread saying I'm lying. Regardless if I left the server after posting, (From either a mental fog I get from migraines, or just not wanting to have 400 discord servers on my left bar), while also not being a troglodyte and spamming or causing any issues within the server I was banned for "leaving the server". Hate me if you will, but that's just plain dumb.

Either way my apologies if I mislead anyone reading this. It was genuine belief that I was banned for any number of reasons based on posting the above video.

Hello guys. I'm so proud of 100% this game. I used to have it as kid and even learned some English with the amazing voice acting back then. I also 100% this game on the Nintendo 64 Switch library, so I honestly feel that my inner child has fully recover from not ever going to Aquas and Zoness as a kid.

Well after this brief intro. I wanted to ask what do you recommend me to do. It took like 30 hours to medal everything in normal and expert and to do all challenges in normal and expert as well. Haven't tried the multiplayer yet but I guess those are fun battles rather than a campaign or challenge.

I really Love Star Fox and had a blast playing it through this last month. But now that I feel like I 100% both on N64 and Switch 2 feel a little sad that there isn't more right now. Of course, I could simply play an expert run every now and then but what do you recommend me to do to challenge myself and have extra fun with the game. I was thinking like doing a normal run full in first person kinda of challenge. What do you do to challenge yourselves?

Star Fox: Assault my be a bit rough around the edges, but I still love this game. After all, what game is without any flaws?

It's certainly not perfect, but overall I liked how this came out. I also nearly ran out of black before I could mix the brown and let me tell you I was PANICKING

Holy shit this game is great. Feels like playing a movie and delivers better on the genre of space opera than any other game I've played. It's such a well-calibrated game, challenge wise. From the get-go, it feels tense and the victories hard-won, but doable, and now that I'm working through all the planets on my third playthrough, I'm zippin and zappin missiles out of the sky and weaving under arches like it's nothin, but the game still doesn't feel *easy,* I'm just shooting for different goals. This sort of arcadey gameplay feels like a lost art these days, and it marries so well to this branched storytelling approach with a heavier focus on punchy dialogue than extended lore dumps and character beats. You start out as mercenaries that bicker constantly and end up as heroes that manage to make your differences work. Falco may be a bastard, but he's *our* bastard.

What's funny is that I'm fairly familiar with the characters from that Youtube series, which I've watched countless times, so I'm hitting all the fanservice memes in reverse. I'll hear like "I can't believe I've been beaten by this scum!" and be like "You didn't use Nova Bomb!"

Heard a ton of this music from Smash Bros, but these are the best mixes of em I've heard for sure. Digging Fichina and the Mission Accomplished theme the most.

Thought these characters were weird looking in the trailers, but now that I'm used to them, even weirdly-moist Slippy has become kinda cute to me.

I hope the old Star Fox veteran fans love this remake as much as I do. Now to join the chorus of people who lament the lack of a proper sequel.
