So I have some experience soldering with a soldering iron and I think that my soldering with an iron is pretty decent, so I wanted to step up my game and start trying a hot air gun. I bought a Yihua 959D. I‘m using the nozzle you can see in the pictures above.
I tried desoldering and resoldering this capacitor (I think it‘s a cap?) on an old, not working controller of mine. I already cleaned the area but it still looks burnt, should I do something different? I just took it off by holding hot air to the area, making sure to circle the air, and removing it with tweezers after the solder melted. From there I tinned the pads with a soldering iron and flux. Then, I applied 400C hot air to the area and waited for the solder to melt and then placed the capacitor from above. But looking at it, it looks like it‘s floating a bit. How can I change this?
Any tips and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
