Probably the largest, and most vibrant colored I have seen in my area(Atlanta, GA). Relocated her to a section of garden I won’t be messing with for awhile.

Wild Snake Photos and Questions - Not for ID Three amazing, wild, vivacious timber rattlesnakes (Crotalus horridus) in New Jersey

I can't stop smiling! Timber rattlesnakes are one of my favourite finds. Despite their poor reputations (due to having evolved one of nature's most fascinating defenses), they really don't want anything to do with humans, and aren't a threat if you are cautious and stay away.

All three were minimally bothered - just moved off the roads and to safety in the woods.

Finally put my idea into action and here’s how it turned out. My Semi-Arboreal snakes seem to love it!

Wanted to share for inspiration or any ideas on improving it or adding to?

Pet Snake Questions how do i stop being jumpy/afraid of my snake?

Upvotes

despite adopting my snake quite a bit ago, i am ashamed to admit that he makes me nervous. at first i was very confident in feeding and handling him, but we both accidentally scared each other last week when i fed him. he moved really quickly, which i would expect, but for some reason it caught me off guard and i kind of flinched at him and made a noise. i realized a couple days later that when i went to handle him i was overly nervous and flinched a bit at him. i know that if he bit me it wouldnt hurt. i love taking care of him and need to get over my anxiety about getting bit. my cat attacked me a couple months ago when i tried to break up a fight between her and my moms cat, which ended up with me being a bit nervous around her. cuddling and petting her eased my anxiety, but i worry that ill have a harder time getting over my fear with my snake. any advice on how to get over this? i want to be a good caretaker and make sure he is comfortable in his home.

Pet Snake Questions Bio active enclosure!!

Hello everyone! I’ve been wanting to start up a bio active enclosure for my two snakes (one is a corn snake and the other is a Florida kingsnake). But the issue is that I have no experience in making one and need to look for something affordable for substrate since I know it can be a little pricey…any advice would be greatly appreciated!

(First time posting something on Reddit I’m a little nervous :,)…)

Wanted to come on here and share this video I made. I got this snake a while back and this video is fairly old, we had someone come into the reptile shop i worked at to surrender a snake he couldn’t care for anymore, upon asking questions we realized he hadn’t even been taking proper care to begin with and it came in with stuck shed.
Im in college right now hoping to become a veterinarian in the future so i took this as a learning opportunity, obviously none of my snakes ever get stuck shed so this was the first time i had to do something like this. Before anyone says anything i conducted proper research and consulted multiple vets i’ve worked closely with.

His name is Garden! He is an albino corn snake and he has a tiny gray spot on his head! (I think it’s a piece of stuck shed but idk)

He’s like 4”2 or something, he’s as long as my 4th grade sister and I don’t know her height so that’s just my guess for him.

Pet Snake Questions Beginner snakes?

hi! i'm looking to get a snake and I was wondering which would be ideal. I'm a minor and still live with my parents so i'm looking for a snake on the smaller-ish side.
I was looking into corn snakes because i've heard they're generally easy to look after and friendly, and don't get too big.
I would love to be able to handle a snake and keep them out the cage whenever they are comfortable, but of course every snake is different.
I'm okay with getting any size enclosure, 120 gallon is ideal I think.
I understand snakes are a huge commitment and they stick with you for a long time. Ive been looking into it for about 2 years now and researching absolutely everything I can, and I've been wanting one since I was a kid and my parents finally agreed to it!
But yeah i'm just looking for any easy beginner snakes with not so picky diets, i'm okay with feeding live mice and anything like that it doesn't matter to me.
I was looking into anery corn snakes because I really want a black snake, I love the look of ball pythons but I don't know if that's an ideal beginner snakes since i've heard they can be pretty picky with diets.

Please let me know what you guys think! ^^

Pet Snake Questions Cal King smells different

This week when I've handled my Cal King (4-5 mo old, gender unknown), it's had a very different smell. I think it's like sulfur. The water also smelled today, so I fully changed it out with a new container. The rocks and Aspen bedding don't smell, and neither does the bottom of the plastic enclosure where it comes in contact with the heating pad. There's a layer of cloth between the pad and the bottom of the tank (on the outside of the tank). I checked the substrate - there's no poop or stinky liquid. She shed a few days ago, but the shed skin did not stink.

ideas? I was planning to feed later today, but now I wonder if I should wait.
