Apartment recommendations? [Moving from Chicago]

Hi everyone,

I may be moving to the Atlanta area for a job near Windy Ridge/Powers Ferry, and I’m looking for apartment recommendations with some context below:

Budget: Ideally, I’d like to stay around $2,000 per month, but I can go somewhat higher if the apartment is genuinely worth it.

  • I’ll likely go to the office around 3 days per week so Ubering is okay though I'm used to taking public transit.
  • I won’t have a car - I have personal reasons to avoid this unfortunately.
  • A 30–40 minute commute is completely fine if the apartment is significantly nicer or offers better value.
  • I’m open to using CobbLinc (route 50), Uber, or a combination of both.
  • I’m looking for a one-bedroom and will not have roommates.
  • Safety, quietness and reliable management are important.
  • I’d prefer a modern or aesthetically appealing apartment with good natural light, in-unit laundry and a decent gym but gym can be optional.
  • Nightlife and social amenities are not important to me at all.
  • Grocery walkability is not essential because I’m fine using grocery delivery but would be good to have.

So far, I’ve been looking at places such as:

  • Marketplace Village
  • Annett
  • Spectator Apartments
  • 400 Belmont
  • Cortland on Cumberland
  • Avana Cumberland
  • SYNC at Jonquil
  • MAA West Village

If you live in any of the above or have any inputs on apartments (whether positive or negative) I'd appreciate it.
Are there any other apartment communities in Smyrna, Cumberland, Marietta or nearby areas that I should take a look at?

I’m hoping to shortlist options and start looking at properties within the next two weeks in person.

POTUS Visit Tomorrow

Just out of curiosity, has anyone reached out to the Cobb County School District about letting a convicted felon and civilly liable sex offender with deep ties to Jeffrey Epstein into Wheeler High School tomorrow? Seems incredibly irresponsible to allow someone like that anywhere near kids. Wonder what the parents of those students are thinking?

Schools

My family and I are relocating to Smyrna GA soon. Looking for insight into Belmont Hills Elementary. The house thats big enough and in our budget is zoned for there while also being reasonable distance from my job in Midtown. Our twins are currently 2 years old and we have another on the way. Looks like it would be Belmont Hills, then Campbell Middle and Campbell high school.

Most positive things I see are for Nickajack and King Springs elementary. Having trouble finding any posts on belmont hills.

Appreciate any advice and insight that can be offered.

Homeless and tweakers

Anybody noticed a large increase in homeless people around SMV? The bigger issue IMO is the tweakers on south Cobb between Concord and Windy Hill.

Anything that can be done?

Interior Designer Recommendation

Post image
3 Upvotes

Husband and I just bought our first home. Looking for an affordable interior designer or just idea-driven/smart contractor.

Home came with TV mount. It’s way too high for how close our couch needs to be. Considering lowering the fireplace for lower mount option (currently TV is on furniture in front of it) or doing built-ins on both sides fitting a television. Frankly I’d also love their opinion on our family room furniture at some point.

Long story short, too many options and willing to pay a professional on what would look best. If you’ve worked with anyone recently you feel passionate about, would love their contact information :)

Tennis recommendations (preferred indoor, for 12yo)?

My son used to have tennis lessons for two years about two years ago and now wants to join his school team but is worried he hasn’t played in awhile, so I’d like to get him out on a court 2-3 times a week for about a month to both refresh his skill and gauge his interest.

Any recommendations in the Smyrna/Vinings area?

Stores with used CDs and DVDs

Are there any stores with physical media that are not good will? I'm looking for movies on dvd/Blu-ray and VHS. And also music CDs. I know there's 2nd and Charles in Kennesaw, but is there anything like it in Smyrna?

Looking for apartments or a house to rent!

Hi! My partner and I are looking to move to the Smyrna/Marietta area to be closer to both of our jobs. We are looking for either an apartment or a house to rent. Preferably 2 bed/2 bath although 2 bed/1bath would be fine as well.

Top priorities are cleanliness, safety, and enough space/storage space. A big kitchen and hardwood (or fake hardwood) floors would be great also.

It would also be great if it was easily accessible to being able to drive to the airport.

Budget is around 2100/month (not including power, water, and Wifi bills).

Where do the Florida Gator fans watch football in Smyrna?

Hey, I’m 26 year old UF graduate looking for other gators to watch football with in the Fall. If I wanted to watch the bulldogs, I’d be set, but apparently I’m not that lucky.

Dog boarding/daycare prices in Marietta/Smyrna?

Hey yall! I’m new to Marietta and I’m looking for the **best value dog boarding/daycare** around Marietta or Smyrna. I don’t necessarily need the cheapest, but I also don’t want to overpay if there’s another place that’s just as good. I have a 10 lb Yorkie, so I’d love to hear where you’ve had the best experience and what you’d recommend.
