Looking to move to Alpharetta, or just looking for something to do? Take a peek at this list before posting!

EDIT 7/10/19: This post is wildly outdated. If anyone wants to take it on themselves to compile a new one, I'll sticky it.

EDIT 3/18/2026: Nearly a decade old post now. A lot has happened/been developed in Alpharetta. Again, if someone would like to make an updated post, I'd be happy to sticky it.

We get a lot of folks looking to move to Alpharetta posting questions or newly-moved people who don't know what to do here, so I figured I could make it easier! I didn't vet any of these links for quality of responses, so feel free to post any of these questions again tailored to your personal needs! And if you have suggestions on any of these topics, don't be afraid to comment below.

I looked back to the last 12 months only. If anyone finds an older post they find useful, feel free to suggest it for the list.

Looking for places to live

Upvotes

Hi all,

I got a job in Alpharetta starting August. I'm looking for places to live but from scrolling a couple of posts in this sub it is clear that there is not a lot of younger demographic here.

My work needs one day in office and rest is remote. Should I live here or go look for a place in Midtown Atlanta? I am in my late twenties.

Or if there are any places or apartment suggestions with a younger demographic those are welcome too!

I'd really appreciate the help :)

Anyone know why the sudden surge in ICE in Alpharetta and surrounding areas? Just saw someone get arrested from a work van at quick trip on Haynes Bridge and at Racetrack on Old Milton yesterday.

Adoption Event this Saturday

They were running out of time: Now, they’re ready to meet you. 💔➡️❤️

Every single dog pictured here was pulled from a high-risk shelter list where their time was running short—simply due to a lack of shelter space. Our foster dog, Lucas (pictured top left), was given just 12 short days from the moment he walked through the shelter doors before his time was up.

Castoff Pet Rescue stepped in right before time ran out to pull them to safety.

These dogs went from being on a clock in a crowded shelter to sleeping on foster couches. They’ve come so far, and all that's left is finding the right family to make it permanent.

Come meet them this weekend and see if your heart (and home) has room for one more:

🗓 When: Saturday, July 25th | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

📍 Where: Currahee Brewing Company (25 S Main St, Alpharetta)

Even if you aren't in a position to adopt right now, please stop by to give them a scratch behind the ears, share this post with neighbors, or visit CASTOFFPETRESCUE.ORG to see how you can help.

Let's show these sweet pups that their lives were worth saving!

AMERIS theater: “LAWN” and “LAWN2” tix able to sit together?

I bought 2 “LAWN” tix for JCM 8/1/26, then bought a 3rd ticket separately for our group that says it’s for “LAWN2”.

Does anyone know whether we’ll be able to sit together? Are there actually different sections for LAWN and LAWN2?

Edited typo

I just started to notice how many flock cameras are in this area. Exiting the highway, entering the highway, just around town. When are elections and can we get these the hell out of here???

Best Store For Bourbon

Hi all.. I am fairly new to the John’s Creek area and I wanted to know which liquor stores are the best for bourbon regarding selection and price. Right now I have been shopping primarily at Costco and Total Wine but wanted to see what the local stores offer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Im going to a show this Wednesday. I bought a VIP upgrade through the artist and the email says to get there at 3:45 but the venue is stating the parking lots don’t open until 4:30. I’m a little anxious and trying to figure out what to do 😭

Second rant about Summit Crossing on Shiloh Road…

They brought in a big Waste Management dumpster, but now even that’s completely full. Trash bags are piled all around it because there’s literally nowhere left to put them. At this point, I honestly don’t blame the residents. When the dumpster is overflowing, you can barely get a bag inside without it falling right back out.

Every day the pile gets a little bigger. The smell keeps getting worse, there are flies everywhere, and the whole area is starting to look like a dumping ground instead of an apartment complex. People still have to take their trash out, but when the dumpster is already overflowing, there’s really no good option.

It just feels like one of those situations where everyone is stuck. Residents don’t have anywhere else to throw their garbage, and the pile just keeps growing. You walk by it every day hoping it’ll finally be cleaned up, but it somehow looks worse than the day before. It’s honestly just sad to see.

Hey, if anyone needs math tutoring (APs, SAT/ACT, calc, linear alg)… we got you

Two upcoming Georgia Tech freshman here. If you or your kid needs help with math, anything from middle school up through college level, hit us up. We cover Algebra 2, Geometry, AP Calc AB/BC, AP Stats, AP CSA, AP Pre-Calc, SAT/ACT math, plus Calc 1&2, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calc. Got 5s on the APs ourselves. After attending a bunch of tutors ourselves, we have realized what MANY of them do wrong… they can’t actually explain it in a way a kid / student can understand.

Sessions are 45-60 min over Zoom. Free consultation first so you know it’s a good fit before booking anything.

Drop a comment or check us out: joinascentmath.com/book

Pretentious

Among a very strong field in Alpharetta, TBB cafe still manages to present itself as the most pretentious and overpriced establishment. Staff seem to change very regularly and they always look so miserable.

Don’t get me wrong, I like highfalutin now and again, and as a European I’ve been to some of the grandest most expensive eateries in the world. TBB just rubs me up the wrong way for some reason.

Am I wrong?

Farmers market in Roswell/Alpharetta??

I’m brand new to shopping at farmers markets but with all this tainted produce crap going on I really want to take the leap to shopping from local farmers. Is there a solid farmers market in either of these cities or do you have to travel further out of the metro (perfectly fine with me of course)? I welcome any and all tips, tricks, and suggestions!
