PC SSE - Help Insects Begone V32 – NMM: Is it normal that the spider replacement bear kills me in 3 hits?

Hi, I installed Insects Begone V32 – NMM because I don't want spiders in my game.

The giant spider near the beginning of the game has now been replaced by a white bear, which is what I wanted. However, the bear kills my character in about 3 hits.

Is this normal with Insects Begone? Does the mod replace the spider with an actual bear with bear stats, making the fight much harder?

Is there a way to keep the spider replacement but make its damage/stats similar to the original spider?

Thanks!

XBox - Discussion What are the chances Mapl3spice will patch Remiel for Timelost Dwemer?

Since Timelost Dwemer was ported over to Xbox I remembered Remiel had special dialogue with the player if they played as a Dwemer but I haven’t seen anything come out for it lately. Really hoping something comes soon so I can start a Dwemer playthrough.

PC SSE - Help I'm fairly tech illiterate and would LOVE some help

I've recently been toying with the idea of getting back into skyrim modding. I used to play on a laptop that I LOADED with mods, but semi recently I got a steam deck and I'm not familiar enough with Linux or steamOS to give it a shot confidently.

I would kill for some help, getting vortex running on steam deck if possible and being shown how to start modding again on the deck.

Thank you for reading! Hope someone can help me learn how to do this :)

For context; I am using the deck docked and in desktop mode.

PC SSE - Help Parallax confuses me

1). I still don't really know what it does, adding depth or something to textures?

2). It has additional benefits for ENB and CS?

3). How do I know if certain textures have parallax? I added the Skyrim 2018/19/2X mod, so do all those textures now have parallax?

4). When installing Lux or other mods that ask, should I always pick the parallax options?

5). If parallax is something I need to do myself, how do I do it?

PC SSE - Help Restoring an old modlist from 2 years ago

So, how much pain would it be to restore an old modlist based on version 1.6.640. Around 700 hundred plugins according to mo2. It was stable for the most part.

I have all the downloads and even installs on my hdd. What I fear the most is that some of the mods were specifically based on the said game version so no idea how they would translate onto the current patch.

Alternativelly I was considering downloading a collection, considering how much of a timesink making your modlist is, and then modifying it a bit. Nexus has more variety when it comes to collections but using vortex to tamper with one is apparently pain in the ass.

Wabbajack would be ideal, but most of the collections are either too large (I can do 300gb at most), or seem to be too focused on ultra graphics (rx 6600 here) or they're like bare bare essentials so it would like starting over.

Any thoughts or recommendations? Any experience with modifying modlists like GtS, or if there is something like GtS lite?

PC SSE - Help Are my game files just cooked?

SOLVED: Somehow, someway, disabling the Auto Parallax / Terrain Parallax blending fix mods fixed snow textures appearing everywhere.

TLDR: Are my game files corrupted, my mod files somehow corrupted, or something to do with load order?

There's snow textures everywhere. I first noticed in bleak falls barrow, so I added some visual tweaks. The inside now looked great, but in the overworld the world was covered in bright, bluish snow. So I downloaded more mods to try to fix it. Didn't work. Messed with load order. Didn't work. Selectively disabled mods. Now it looked worse. Disabled all visual mods. The result is in the screenshots (it didn't work). Now I have no visual mods besides an ENB with no preset and the snow textures are still EVERYWHERE where they shouldn't be. Polygonal areas of snow covering roads, clipping through grass, under rivers, over cliffs etc. The world is just 30% snow.

I use an ENB but I haven't messed with it aside from downloading Rudy's ENB req files (and all other reqs.) and disabling sharpening and squinting bars. Could also be the problem, however it worked wonderfully when I booted the game to look at it. Doubt it's the cause.

The question: Is this start-from-scratch-worthy? Do I just delete the visual mods I have now and replace them with others? Or is the solution even more simple, like switching load order?

PC SSE - Discussion Apocalypse's poison spells suck

This is mostly a rant.

I don't know if Apocalypse is still the go-to magic mod or not, but it's the one I installed when I came back to Skyrim a month ago. I play on Expert difficulty with 4 followers.

Apocalypse's poison spells suck. Big time. They make you lose health per second, and they can stack on top of each other. I haven't encountered a single magic enemy who attack with fire rather than poison. Either poison, ice or lightning. But poison sucks more than fire, because it can stack with itself. And every magic enemy has poison spells—Hagravens, Briarhearts, Necromancers, you name it.

On top of that, I did install Apothecary. So health potions are almost worthless. When being poisoned in battle, I have to chug a lot of them every few seconds, and even then I die a lot. If I had vanilla instant-cure potions, I guess poison spells would be more manageable. But they're not.

Oh, how do I wish I could go back. Or rather, just disable poison spells in the enemy spell pool. They're the opposite of fun.

EDIT: So, if anyone finds this post in the future, the cause is the "MADMEN - A FORSWORN OVERHAUL" mod (thanks to u/simonmagus616 for pointing that out). I've found the following mod: Madmen Poison Damage Nerf - SkyPatcher. I haven't tried it yet but I figured it might be worth linking it here.

Holy- man It's so much better. While installing reshade I used iMMERSE by Marty McFly effects it isn't that hard on fps without other visual mods at least and it's way better. It feels like the first time I put on glasses after having 3 degree-diopter astigmatism for 20 years. Use the launchpad sharpen mxao and smaa in that effects pack. Man the FXAA and TAA ruins the image.

PC SSE - Discussion Some thoughts about a potential smithing/enchanting bypass mod

The mod I intend to make has to do with enchanting and crafting and the flaws I see in both. After playing with Ritualcraft for well over a year and realizing that most of the time I enjoy characters that don't spend half their game time smithing or enchanting things, this mod idea came to mind. Rather than try to revolutionize or redo both systems, I thought of what makes them unpleasant / boring / op

  • smithing: it gets kinda broken in how much you can improve equipment stats. That said enemies scale their own stats crazy too, so it isn't the end of the world. But i feel that what makes smithing wtrong isn't crafting, it's tempering. It is a huge perk sink as well, and entirely passive.
  • enchanting: it ruins exploration because you make better at home. It makes uniques / artifacts feel weak. It is also very grindy and boring to max level. And it can be customized to the point of being more impactful on your character than perks. Two enchantments, all of them very strong in scaling, all of them exactly what you want, in every possible slot, is BROKEN yo.

In vanilla, you have pre-enchanted variants of equipment, usually what you find as loot or buy from vendors. Internally, these are set up as a distinct item that was assigned an enchantment. This enchantment is usually scaled on a tier going from 01 to 06, with 01 being the weakest (i.e. Ring of Minor Magicka (20 points of Magicka) and 06 being the strongest loot variant (Ring of Peerless Magicka (70 points of Magicka)).

When disenchanted, you learn the 01 version of the enchantment. this is the weakest, because it expects the very strong skill+perk multipliers of Enchanting skill to be used in the calculations; even if they're weak, a master enchanter will handily outclass most finds. More unique items are often given a particularly strong enchantment, and tagged as impossible to disenchant to maintain this balance.

so, my mod idea:

  • the forge offers a few pre-enchanted versions of every armor and weapon set in the vanilla game.
  • this pre-enchanted armor has NO perk / crafting requirements, similar to Ritualcraft.
  • it is not disenchantable.
  • it comes with unique enchantments meant to give each armor set a theme and each weapon set a specific vibe. Still designing these. Still thinking on the best course of action. There'll be sets very good for survivability, sets that when together make you tanky against mages, sets that provide lifesteal and regeneration in droves, sets that specifically go for damage or a classic playstyle (hello stealth archer)...
  • unique enchantments are 2-effect but not that strong. They will be around 03 in strength, but with two effects. For instance, you could find here something in the ballpark of Elven Gauntlets with Fortify Archery 25% and Fortify Stamina 50 points. Is it good? absolutely. trip on a rock after level 20 and you find rings giving you 40% archery, making this probably not very good anymore (but still good when you get it).
  • recipes to craft these cost a filled grand soul gem + extra alchemy materials depending on the specific set theme, so they actually cost more to craft than normal emchantments.

it's not too different from Ritualcraft, my first mod, except rather than go for uniques, it has its own as an alternative to crafting progression.

I very badly want to include something a little extra for spellcasters, as they only ever get to use robes, too, and it is very hard to get any meaningful items outside of the College questline unless, again, you spec mega hard into enchanting and put magicka / cost reduction on everything... So I am considering a -few- alternate sets here and there for a more spellsword / nightblade / sorcerer alternative, as well as some hoods, robes, gloves, and boots, and jewelry for all classes. But it is, to me, so jarring that a province with 5000 years of history including ancient snow elves, dwemer, Tongues, a dragon cult, and morrowing refugees, plus nords hailing from Atmora, wouldn't be absolutely plastered with spellcaster gear unless you very very specifically enroll in one college.

You get a grand soul gem and fill it - but that is only a first step. You may need a bunch of elemental salts, or gemstones, or specific alchemy items, or heart stones, to fulfil a specific enchantment's request.
Once you do, you get a good item. on par with the average mortal-made unique (think stuff like Grimsever, Chillrend, etc, stuff someone made rather than a crazy strong divine relic).

You can't improve it because it is enchanted, so you'd need Arcane Blacksmith. And at that point you are investing into smithing, so. typically, unimproved items don't get much better or worse just by their material tier. you're gonna die very fast in Daedric Armor if it isn't tempered and you expect it to help tank giant maces.

The enchantment is good, better than normal one-effect enchantments, but you cannot learn it and have it scale off of enchanting skill. It will be much better than anything you could do without enchanting perks. If you use a mod to disenchant it anyway ... that's on you if the effect breaks balancing. You also can't really choose the effects you get. Early armors have more QOL stuff like carry weight, disease resists, late-game stuff may have magic traits, resists, or help in damage, but you don't get to pick the exact armor you want with the exact effects you'd like, so you may either complete a set (and the sets would be designed with a concise function to them) or you may replace parts of it with loot that gets closer to your needs. And the crafting requirements means you'll have to jump through a few hoops (nothing crazy tho) to get the items. So you certainly explore.

  • In exchange
    • you have 0 points in smithing.
    • you have 0 points in enchanting.
  • You get access to good enchanted gear that may fulfill a nevessity in your kit, and use one or two you need or treat it as a collector set to complete in your armory. Very interesting usecase for minion mods or dead thralls or followers, letting you mske standardized items without spending two weeks at an enchanter table making set after set after set.
  • of course, everything here will be outclassed by playermade things with perks. this has -one- double-effect enchantment at mid strength; a dedicated enchanter can just get two specific enchantments, put them *well past* 06 tier strength, in any combination they want. So. Yeah... you get to have your cake and eat it too, and use this in combination with smithing (to improve these sets) or in combination with Enchanting (to cover gaps in enchantments you still don't know normally).

I would love to make a version using Summermyst, to have variety and a bit more spice in the effects I have available. But for now I'm staying with vanilla enchantments, for compatibility.

PC SSE - Help Issue when trying to open a custom skill menu

Hello everyone o/

I decided to start a new run using the Lost Legacy Wabbajack Modlist. After installing the modlist with Jackify on my PC running Linux CachyOS, everything worked wonderfully.

...up until tried opening any of the custom skill menus (Custom Skills Framework, Custom Skills Menu). I got to the slider with all available custom skill trees, but when I clicked any of them, nothing happened, not even a CTD. It just exited the menu without displaying any skill tree.

I was looking for a solution to that but only found comments that this mod can be finnicky to set up on Linux. No explanation on how to do it, though. On the mods' Nexus pages I could only see other people who also ran into issues.

One person advised adding the Custom Skills Merged mod. Adding it was not an issue at all and I found the power to open my custom skill trees, but when I attempted to open any of the skill trees, it just exited the menu, as before.

I am really puzzled how I can solve this issue. If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it!

In case it helps, here is the link to a Pastebin containing my plugin list: https://pastebin.com/T52whLCg

PC SSE - Help Texture mod recommendations for thatched roof buildings?

I'm using the 202X series as a sort of base texture overhaul before overwriting it with other, more specific texture mods and I'm not a fan of how 202X turns the thatch roof textures into this dreary dark brown colour. Does anyone have any texture mod recommendations for the thatch roof buildings found throughout Skyrim that retain the golden colouration in vanilla?

PC SSE - Help NVGO - Enb replacement?

So I have NVGO installed and I like the baseline EnB and weather setup but I feel like there is a lot more to be desired? The nights look horrible and flat. Almost no contrast between shadows and general night. Basic editing makes them either super bright and flat or pure black.

I also noticed in cave interiors there is no contrast between shadows and dimly lit areas. Just a washout feel in general

Sometimes it feels like the lighting might be broken, but then daylight hits and it all looks good

Side note. I can’t tell if the morning fog mod is working with this setup. I can’t ever see it.

All in all, I have a high end pc and need a better ENB that’s in part with the good parts of NVGOs basic Enb

PC SSE - Help Skyrim Crashes when loading a new file, or corrupts it

When i load a save file everything works, if i save; everything works, if i then try to directly load the new safe file; Crash!

PasteBin:https://pastebin.com/rGkSP0RM

ConText:https://ctxt.io/3/oUFzpGOS4

If i try to load the new game file: "This game file is corrupted and can not be loaded"

Before you (have to) ask:

Q:Did you Deleate Mods?

A:Kinda, all mods the game told me were missing are back now (except for "Ashe Impressionist Patches.esp"). I have played with this amount of Mods for a few hours and no issues, and well, i can load the file, just not any saves made afterwards

Q:Did you try Phoostwoods Crash Analyser?

A:Yes, after making sure Bitdefender wasnt complaining I tried to reconfigure my Windows Page file (I dont use nolvus), I also have Engine Fixes on the Newest Version and i tryed my best to free up more RAM(Thos issues have all been there for a long time, it was always a different cause that crashed it so i dont suspect that to be the cause)

Q:Have you tried to find Help at another places?

A:I read many Posts, none managed to help me

I also want to add, When creating a new Character, no issues appear(No i dont want to make a new Character, i like mine)

I hope you can help me, and i hope my awful English isnt to much of an Isse, if you have an Idea, just any Idea, please let me know, i Am at the End of my Knowledge

PC SSE - Mod New Guide Released - How to Install Skyrim Creation Kit

Today I've released a new guide on how to install the Skyrim Creation Kit. The guide can be found here on Modding.wiki as well as here on Nexus. As for all of my guides, the Modding.wiki version is superior due to the available formatting options, but most users prefer to stay on Nexus.

The guide covers Creation Kit installation and configuration for all versions of Skyrim SE/AE and Skyrim VR, focusing on CK version selection and compatibility (for downgraded builds and VR specifically). I've also included additional optional mods (as well as ones to avoid), and other items.

Feedback is welcome! If something isn't working correctly, or you have thoughts on additional items, please let me know.
