Request help with fanfic download on iphone

I do know how to set it up to run automatically so I do not need help with that part. for the fanfic in question, it is on fanfiction .net so to download it I have to use fichub.net, the issue with that is you have to put the URL for the fanfic into a search field and only when it gets entered do the links for the download appear the actual code for the download links also does not seem to appear until you submit the link. I would just use the link I have but every time a new chapter gets posted the link changes, you can still use the old link, but it will only download the version that it was on when you got the link. the URL for the story itself that gets put into the search field does not change. I will be looking for the PDF version, feel free to contact me if you need more details. I did try to make it myself, but it didn't even make it past entering it into the search field, I have some experience with JavaScript and html code so if you could also help me understand what does what in the shortcut it would be appreciated to avoid this problem in the future. I do not have the failed result of my attempts so please don't ask me to show what I have. if you want the link to the story in question it is Messengers of the Gods but I don't know why that would help.

Help Create an event based on what's on my screen

Siri AI in iOS 27 is amazing at quickly looking at my screen and creating an event from that text or email it sees. If I don't want to use my voice I can pull up Siri and type, "event from text" which also works.

But I want to make this even easier for myself. I want to create a control center icon that I tap which does this same thing. It really struggles to do this. Hiding the control center afterwards works fine. But it always either says "couldn't convert text to date" or it just creates an all-day event for today. Has anyone managed to create this shortcut yet?

Help Automation: app doesn’t start properly in CarPlay

I made this automation to start an app when CarPlay connects.

If I test the automation on my phone, it all works.

But in my car, the app opens but ‘freezes’, I need to kill & restart the app on my phone to make it work.

Is this a known issue that is soluble?

App: Here WeGo
Automation through url: WeGo://

(The ‘open app’ command doesn’t work at all in CarPlay)

Help Looking for automation that turns certain text messages into obnoxious sound to wake me up

I’m currently working night shifts, which means I sleep during the day. I’m looking for an iPhone automation that can monitor text messages from one specific person and trigger only when the message contains a specific keyword or phrase.

Instead of just playing the normal text notification sound, I want my phone to call me or create an alarm-like alert or a phone call that is loud enough to wake me up.

Ideally, I’d like the phone to continue calling or repeatedly alerting me until I answer or acknowledge it, so there’s no chance I’ll sleep through an important message. For example, if my wife sends me a text containing the word “EMERGENCY” or “URGENT,” I want my phone to immediately call me and keep trying until I pick up.

My main goal is to make sure I never miss an emergency message while I’m asleep. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Request Shortcut for series watching

So I get a bit carried away with my binging of family guy right now at night and want something for 2 episodes only. How would I go about doing a timer for 2 episodes then propping up a message about ‘time for bed’ and then a shut down option and if I dismiss it will shut down in 2 minutes anyways. I just need help after the timer bit. Thanks

Help Created a shortcut to show banking passwords on app launch, but I'm worried about security. Any advice?

Hi everyone,

First, let me explain what I was trying to achieve. I use around 10 different banking apps, and for security reasons, they force password changes every 3 months. Since keeping track of all of them in my head is tough, I used to keep them in my Notes app.

Recently, I built an iOS automation: whenever I open a specific banking app, its password pops up as a notification at the top of the screen. This saved me from constantly opening the Notes app and searching for passwords.

It works smoothly, but I’ve become increasingly concerned about security:

  1. My passwords are stored as plain text inside the Shortcuts app.
  2. More importantly, if my phone gets stolen while unlocked (or if someone manages to unlock it) and they open a banking app, the password will immediately pop up as a notification, giving them full access.

I’d really appreciate your advice on this. How can I make this automation more secure?

I tried forcing a Face ID check right after opening the banking app (before the notification pops up), but the Shortcuts app doesn't seem to offer a native Face ID authentication action. Even if it did, the passwords would still be visible in plain text inside Shortcuts anyway.

Apple lets you require Face ID to open certain apps, but I couldn't find an option to require Face ID for Shortcuts.

Any ideas on how to secure this setup, or better alternatives? Thanks in advance!

Update: Password managers, including Apple's, don't work with banking apps. At least, not with the ones I use.

Update2 : I appreciate everyone, even the ones who downvotes my answers 😄 , but password managers really do not work with the banking apps I use. I tried tapping twice or tapping and hold but nothing appears. I always thought this was a common case for all banking apps. If you want to try it yourself, just get Garanti BBVA from the store and see it yourself

Help Photos app to file server help

I’m trying to setup a way with shortcuts to send photos and videos from one album to my media server and into a different album, it all works fine except for videos which get converted to jpegs for some reason and I can’t figure out why,
Currently im using find photos where album is x then save photos to Files, after that it does find photos where album is x, save photos to album y, remove photos from x. Is the issue the find photos, if so what should I be using instead?

Tip/Guide Focus mode finally fixed after

https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/s/s9CQlgQH93

About 3 years ago I posted about how the focus mode name couldn’t be stored as a variable to later be invoked by that variable name, it now seems to work, not sure which version this was fixed in.

And at this point I can even remember what the purpose of me needing it was all those years ago, but, it’s now working!

Help Shortcuts in iPhone Mac e iPad

I have 3 devices.

I create a simple shottet that opens a folder of the notes app. Well, it doesn’t work well for me. It only works on 1 device. If it works well on my MacBook, I open the iPhone and that same short button does not work, it does not open the specific folder but the last one that has been opened. If from the iPhone I get into that shortcut and run that shortcut from the shortcut itself, it does work well for me from the iPhone, but it stops working on the MacBook. What is the reason for this malfunction of shortcuts in different devices? I don’t know if you have understood me and someone can help me please.

It’s something as simple as opening a notes folder but that it works for me on the three devices I have, I don’t know why this happens.

Shortcut Sharing Siri AI Chatbot Replacement

If your country doesn’t support the Siri AI yet but you want to have chats with Apple’s AI models I made a shortcut to effectively act mostly like a chatbot. You can start a chat and continue it with as many messages as you want and then when you’re done it saves the chat in a note for later. You can also upload images to the chat for the ai to look at do whatever you want them to do with it. You can continue a previous conversation from where you left off using the shortcut using the old Chatlog from notes and adding it to a new chat for the conversation to continue. If you want you could retrofit it to add dictation as well.

Discussion If a hardware device could physically control your phone like a human, what would you use it for?

Given the debate around hardware wrappers vs. software agents, what if someone built a physical USB device that reads your phone screen and sends touch inputs directly? By mimicking human eyes and fingers, it would bypass app API limits and OS restrictions entirely.

What are the killer use cases for an agent with full, native hardware control over a smartphone?

A few possibilities:

  • Defeating Dark Patterns: Handing off annoying tasks like "cancel my gym membership in-app" or declining tracking cookies across every app automatically.
  • Gig Work Automation: Instantly evaluating and accepting high-pay DoorDash or Uber offers faster than humanly possible without needing restricted APIs.
  • Customer Service & Hold Times: Waiting out 2-hour airline hold queues, negotiating refunds, and pinging you only when a real human answers.
  • Ticket & Deal Sniping: Executing native app checkouts for limited drops and solving CAPTCHAs directly on-device.
  • Life Admin: Auto-triaging notifications, clearing unread group chats, and auto-filling clunky mobile forms.

Setting aside spam and botting risks, what legitimate workflows would you program it to tackle first?

Help Automation Settings

Is there a way to add or change some of the automation settings? The one I need help with is Time of Day. I can choose any time for the automation to run, but I can only choose it to run daily, weekly, or monthly. I’d like to have some that run every other week or every 3 weeks. Is that possible?

Shortcut Sharing My iOS Audio File Trimmer (built with Shortcuts + A-Shell)

Hey yall.

This other shortcut that I made is surprisingly useful for me, so I figured I’d share it.

Shortcut Link: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/93a2b1f7d7604c768913bcba57eeb811

It's really helpful for those who want to quickly trim an audio file without using another music editing app. I needed it in particular for DJ edits I would do on my phone where I would often make mistakes in the beginning of the audio lol.

And by all means, if there is an easier way of doing this (or just a music editing app thats free and easy to use), please let me know!

I call the shortcut it iOS Audio File Trimmer

Requirement for Shortcut:

- A-Shell (or any app that can execute terminal commands with FFmpeg available).

The Breakdown:

I designed this shortcut to precisely trim the beginning of an audio file.

It uses FFmpeg through A-Shell

The workflow is simple:

  1. Select an audio file.
  2. The shortcut trims the beginning of the file.
  3. Listen to the result.
  4. If it isn’t quite right, choose:
    • ➖ Move the trim point earlier (-0.25 seconds)
    • ➕ Move the trim point later (+0.25 seconds)
    • ✏️ Enter a custom trim amount
  5. Repeat until it sounds perfect.
  6. Save the finished audio.

I included a custom trim option in case I ever need a more precise adjustment (even tho the ±0.25-second trims have handled pretty much everything for me so far)

This currently works on iPhone/iOS only. I haven’t tested it on my mac yet.

Visual of the Function
Part 1 of Screenshot of IOS Audio File Trimmer
Part 2 of Screenshot of IOS Audio File Trimmer

I’ve attached screenshots of the workflow and a visual of how it's intended to function.

I’d also love feedback if anyone has ideas for improving the workflow.

Solved Can you make a shortcut which only triggers when you've selected text?

I want to replace the normal copy with action button copy, however my action button does something else when other triggers are available(like current app, focus etc). Can I make it so the the first thing my action button/shortcut does is to check where or not Ive selected text? This will also give bonuses like easier to make automatic clipboard, misclicking and then needing to selecct and so on
