I really love Shining Boy & Little Randy (星になった少年) and this performance is the best I like.

I’ve checked several sheet music versions and other performances, but this performance has some differences. (e.g. the ending part)

Does anyone know which sheet music this is based on, or have a similar arrangement?
I’d love to practice this version.

Hi. This is from "Bad Idea" from the musical "Waitress" printed by Hal Leonard. I tried asking how to enter this notation in Musescore, and everyone in that sub says they've never seen this notation before.

I can't find the music sheet on the internet. By any chance, does someone know where to find it?

I never understood why you can't just search up a piece of sheet music on the internet and find a pdf if you intend to use it for enjoyment, or even for learning independently, etc. Of course, making a profit off of copyrighted material that's unauthorized is illegal. But like every other crime, if you risk committing a crime, you risk the legal consequences. Same thing with performing copyrighted music. But outside of these situations, what harm arises when people in their own homes, or with friends, want to find a piece of music to play? In the event of needing authorization of a piece of music, you just purchase the sheet music.

Now if whatever music-owning entity wants to ensure they are receiving their full profit, I guess I can't argue as to why they only have their music behind a paywall. However, there are some pieces of music that don't exist on the internet entirely. Spontaneous and non-professional music accessibility is so limited, and pirated content is harder to access now than a few years ago (which again, I guess I can't argue). Instead, a music-owning entity, if they don't have a personal justification as to why not, would list their piece of music and you'd be able to view it in its entirety for free/cheap, while the option to purchase a license is also present. There would be no reason then to illegally redistribute it, because it's already there... from the owner. If I stumble upon a voice arrangement from a classical composer, it's not like I can exploit (make a profit off, perform and gain praise, pirate, etc.) the piece of music without facing legal action.

To extend the conversation, would there be any benefit to increasing accessibility to copyrighted material, while increasing penalties for copyright infringement? For those who want to enjoy can enjoy. For those who want to take advantage, there will be more at stake than just fines at minimum.

Is this crazy to say? If I'm forgetting an obvious reason, give it to me easy. I'm sure there is harm to giving access to copyrighted material to people who intend to use it personally, because it wouldn't be this scrutinized if not.

I think I'm just venting that I can't easily pull up a choral piece to sing out of enjoyment haha!
