I watched American Murder: Laci Peterson on Netflix for the first time this week and was really struck by Scott Peterson. I wasn’t alive for when the case actually happened so this was my first time seeing him and his conduct

I know there are some people who maintain his innocence but I believe he is guilty, and I say I was struck by him because he reminds me so much of certain serial killers who maintained innocence or didn’t admit to their crimes for a very long time

And I was wondering, if Scott wasn’t caught, if he was never even tried, would he have kept on killing? It was so shockingly easy for him to do. And so easy for him to lie about.

It kind of made me think of Ed Kemper too. He committed a double murder of his grandparents as a young teenager, they were people he knew, his family, and maybe his psychologists thought that it was just a one off. One crime of rage or passion. Maybe people think that of Scott too

But Ed eventually got released, and got older, and started killing again. Do you think people like Scott Peterson, Chris watts, have that same potential/desire to kill again but can’t because of their capture?

This may sound odd but when BTK would dress up at his victims so he actully wanted to feel the fear his victim felt. He also probably wanted be his own victim

The Portland John Doe was identified in 2025 as Larry Eugene Parks, a 30 year old Vietnam Veteran. He had lost contact with his family the year prior and was sort of a drifter. With him last being seen alive in Pensacola, Florida. He was found strangled to death in the early mornings of July 18th, 1980, in Marion County, Oregon. An area with which he had no ties to, and due to the nature of him being estranged from his family, and a drifter, he wouldn't be unidentified for 45 years.

In 2024, an Orange County Sheriff's Department investigator reached out to the Oregon Police and offered to help identify the remains using forensic investigative genetic genealogy. With a genetic profile being developed from a blood sample and Parks' identity being confirmed after possible family members submitted DNA profiles for comparison in 2025.

Larry Parks was born 1950, had he not been killed, he would've been 76 years old today.

Anyone else believe that William Heirens was most likely innocent? I remember learning about him and the crimes as a child from the hotspots in the original Watch Dogs game. It was so tragic and upsetting to my 12 year old self that I just had to research it and learn more about it. I won’t say I’m 100% certain on my belief, but the evidence does make it very arguable. Near two out of three of the crime scenes, eye witnesses claimed to have seen a man in his 30-40s both of similar heights. One heard a gunshot in the middle of the night right by the crime scene. I think shit just does not add up when considering the fact William was only 17 at the time and maintained for the rest of his life that he was innocent and was coerced into confession through torture and starvation. It’s already an EXTREMELY sad story regardless of if he was actually innocent or not, but him possibly being innocent just adds an entirely new layer of sadness and tragedy to the story. For a man to spend 65 years in prison and literally die there for something he didn’t even do, shit’s just horrible to think about. Ever since I learned about all this years ago, the story always comes back to my mind at some point and it just makes me extremely sad.

A man hauling beans to a cannery found the body on the northbound Talbot onramp of the Interstate 5 highway, about ten miles south of Salem, at approximately 4:15 A.M. on July 17, 1980. He stopped because he thought he saw a stuffed animal in the middle of the road.

But it was the naked body of a boy whose hands had been bound behind his back with shoelaces. His ankles were also tied, pulled up behind his thighs and secured to the same laces that secured his hands. A separate cord was tied around his scrotum and secured to the ties which bound his hands and feet.

At seventeen, Michael Sean O'Fallon became Marion County murder case 772007. He had been strangled to death.

'He graduated from high school and wanted to see some of the country before he went to college in the fall,' his mother told the Oregon homicide investigators who came to visit after she buried her son in Mount Olivet Cemetery. 'He took a backpack and a sleeping bag and a tent. He didn't want to take a car, so he hitchhiked. His intention was to go to Canada.'

He did make it as far as Canada and was on his way down the Pacific Coast, heading toward California, when he picked the wrong person to ride with. Somewhere in northern Oregon, he met a driver who gave him a drink or two along with a near-toxic dose of Valium and Tylenol, according to the autopsy lab report. Everything he had with him when he first thumbed his way out of Colorado disappeared: his hiking boots, his backpack, his identification, the camera that his mother had bought during a trip to Mazatlán the previous year. All Mary Jo had left to help remember her first-born son's final days was a picture postcard from the Canadian Rockies that arrived in the mailbox one ironic week too late to match the breathless exuberance of his words. Michael Sean O'Fallon was born September 8th, 1962. His body was sadly found discarded off Interstate 5 in Marion County, Oregon on July 17, 1980. He would have been 63 years old had he not been killed.

Recently stumbled across the toolbox killers and went down that rabbit hole. Read the wiki and listened to the courtroom screams that got recorded and read the transcript of Shirley Ledford. Stuff of nightmares.

One thing that stuck out was how different the Ledford murder seamed to be compared to all rest of them. She seemed to get it far worse than any of the other victims. Obviously none of the victims got off well but they just seemed to be on another level of evil with Ledford.

Was this just the classic escalation of serial killers? or was something different with her? I read somewhere that they knew her from where she worked. I also read somewhere that one of the killers had asked her out at one point and she rejected them. not sure if thats confirmed?

The first victims seemed to be mostly about rape followed by killing them just to not leave witnesses. With Ledford it seemed to be sadistic torture primarily.

Also is it possible that they lied about the others and they were just as brutal with them? Ledford was the only recorded evidence that was found so they couldn’t lie about that as much.

Ellen Jane Hover was born in 1953 in Los Angeles, California and grew up inside a prominent Hollywood social circle; her father, Herman Hover, was widely known as the former operator of Ciro’s Nightclub on the Sunset Strip (Alcala, 2014; Marie Claire, 2010). Hover moved to New York to pursue her deep dual passions for both classical music and medicine (Marie Claire, 2010).

She completed her undergraduate studies at Beaver College—now known as Arcadia University—where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree as a biology major (Arcadia University, 2019). Historical archives indicate she spent her time carefully balancing her scientific education with the arts; she was an accomplished, trained classical pianist who actively aspired to work as an orchestral conductor (Arcadia University, 2019; The New York Times, 1977). At the time of her disappearance in 1977, she was living independently in a Midtown Manhattan apartment and preparing to apply to medical school (The New York Times, 1977).

On July 15, 1977, Hover went missing from her walk-up residence located at 686 Third Avenue (The New York Times, 1977). The primary breakthrough in the timeline came from a calendar square found inside her apartment; on the date of July 15, she had handwritten the name "John Berger"—a recurring alias utilized by serial killer Rodney James Alcala to solicit photography clients (The New York Times, 1978). Witnesses subsequently reported seeing her interacting with a man matching Alcala's exact physical description earlier that month (The New York Times, 1977).

Her skeletal remains were discovered 11 months later, on June 14, 1978, hidden under heavy rocks on a wooded hillside within the Rockefeller Estate grounds in North Tarrytown, New York (The New York Times, 1978). Because of the extreme state of biological decomposition at the time of recovery, forensic pathologists could not scientifically verify the exact cause of death, though police investigators ruled the case a homicide consistent with Alcala's patterns of strangulation (The New York Times, 1978).

The investigation faced jurisdictional friction and a lack of usable physical evidence, remaining a cold case for over three decades (Orange County Register, 2011). In 2011, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office officially indicted Alcala after synthesizing travel registries, witnesses, and evidence compiled from his prior California capital trials (Orange County Register, 2011). On December 14, 2012, Alcala formally entered a guilty plea in New York State Supreme Court for the first-degree murders of both Ellen Jane Hover and flight attendant Cornelia Crilley (New York Magazine, 2012). He was sentenced to 25 years to life for the New York crimes and remained incarcerated until he died of natural causes on July 24, 2021 (Alcala, 2014).

TL;DR: On July 15, 1977, 23-year-old classical pianist and biology graduate Ellen Jane Hover vanished from her Midtown Manhattan apartment after writing the alias of serial killer Rodney Alcala ("John Berger") in her calendar. Obviously there's serial killers who were described as charming and nice (Bundy, Gacy, etc), but were there any that were described as genuinely sweet? I'm asking because the psychology is so fascinating to me.

Hey guys, I’m gonna make this extremely quick but effective I’ve been doing research with a I 70 killer for a couple months between April to May 1992, he murdered six people five brunettes young petite and one man that he mistaken for a woman now the guy I use for these murders is extremely unique gun Erma Werke ET-22 it was only created between 1967 to 1969 it was only used in small combat scenarios. It was created in West Germany and it was mostly used never gone is mostly used in civilian. The name does come from Navy though, but it was never used in any of the war. It’s an extremely rare gun. It’s only 6000 of it oversees now I think whoever did these horrific murders most likely had experience of these guns because he most likely came from the gun was created Germany not to mention the police report for the person to be as since since early twenties to forties now he’s also not a sadists because there was no signs of torture or sexual assault one gunshot wound to the back of the head execution style, which tells us his main goal is to just kill. He also does Rob, but that’s just the second item. I think he did that just to throw the police off. .

So I’ve been looking for a while now and I’m failing to find the “interview” of Robert Maudsley from back in the 80s. I have found some clips but never the whole thing and always blurry. I’ve assumed that the whole thing is gone but then I’ve seen the interview of his nephew saying that you can still find it if you dig deep enough…?

1. The fragment of skull found in the boatshed has got to belong to the young boy described by David Brooks, right? Possibly Albright, the grocer's son? Henley supposedly swore there were 19 victims in the boat shed. 17 were identified at the time, and then Sharon Derrick identified Donald Falcon's arm bones, and then there's this skull fragment. Does it even exist? What does Sharon Derrick have to say about it?
2. I read a Houston police report here https://archive.org/details/DeanCorll_HoustonPD/D-01054/mode/1up that indicated the stripped stolen Chevrolet Camaro in the boat shed was used for parts for David Brooks' Corvette, rather than resale on the black market. Not really a question, but it seems relevant to the Brooks-Corll relationship
3. There has to be something to the idea that Swimsuit Boy is Rusty Branch, right? And someone else is buried in Rusty Branch's grave? The composite photo looks like him. Does Sharon Derrick have anything to say about it?
4. Are we convinced Corll was killing people before Jeffrey Konen in 1970? Apparently there are people who saw him digging suspicious holes before 1970, but I have no idea where this testimony comes from. He strikes me as the kind of sicko who needs to tell people about his crimes, and there isn't any real evidence linking him to anything before Jeffrey Konen

Alton Coleman and Debra Brown were a pair of American serial killers who killed 8 people in the Great Lakes region of the U.S. They attacked or killed men, women, and children.

Victims

Vernita Wheat: On June 19th, 1984, the badly decomposed body of nine year old Vernita Wheat was found in Waukegan, Wisconsin. As it turns out, Coleman had befriended Vernita's mother, Juanita, and had taken Vernita to Waukegan, before raping and strangling her.

Tamika Turks: At some point in June 1984, the couple encountered two young girls in Gary, Indiana. The young girls were nine year old Annie, and her sister, seven year old Tamika. The couple sexually assaulted the girls, and killed Tamika. Tamika's body was found on June 19th.

Donna Williams: the same day as the discovery of Vernita and Tamika's bodies, Donna Williams, a 25 year old woman from Gary, disappeared. Her body was found on July 11th.

Virginia and Rachelle Temple: after arriving in Toledo, Ohio, on July 5th, the couple met Virginia Temple. When her relatives began not hearing from her, they told the police, and they visited her house and found her and her eldest daughter, nine year old Rachelle, strangled to death and left in a crawlspace, while her other children were left alone and afraid.

Tonnie Storey: on July 20th, the body of 15 year old Tonnie Storey was found in Cincinnati, Ohio. She had disappeared eight days earlier.

Marlene Walters: on July 13th, Coleman and Brown beat a couple, Harry and Marlene Walters. Marlene did not survive the attack. Harry later testified that Coleman and Brown had talked to them about purchasing a camper before the attack. The Walters's car was stolen, and so were a couple more items.

Eugene Scott: in Indianapolis, the couple stole a car and murdered its owner, Eugene Scott, by shooting him repeatedly. His body was later found in a ditch.

Capture, trial and sentencing

Coleman and Brown's crime spree finally came to an end in Evanston, Illinois. A motorist who had seen Coleman and Brown walking across an intersection recognized Coleman and notified the police. They were arrested and taken into custody without incident. The death penalty was sought for both of them, but it was only given to Coleman, who was executed on April 26th, 2002. His last meal consisted of a well done filet mignon smothered with mushrooms, fried chicken breast, a salad with French dressing, sweet potato pie topped with whipped cream, French fries, collard greens, onion rings, cornbread, broccoli with melted cheese, biscuits and gravy, and a cherry coke. He was executed via lethal injection. Instead of the death penalty, Brown was given life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, as well as 140 years. She is still alive and serving her time in prison.

Was it ever explained why Holmes was able to have the children with him?

And what happened to Mrs. Pietzel in the end? She knew about Holmes' scheme. Was she charged at all?

There was a case I read on here (and then on Wikipedia) where a black serial killer in the 1970s-1980s killed a woman with another black serial killer and then they went their separate ways before getting caught for separate killing sprees. It isn’t known how exactly they met or how their meeting led to a murder but it’s still an extremely unique case. I’m not referring to Lucas and Toole or any other well known killers.

Randy Steven Kraft, one of the most (if not THE most) sadistic serial killers in history has had a very illusory public life.

Some of you may be familiar with, “Angel of Darkness”, by Dennis McDougal, a very well written and researched biography of Kraft and his crimes. Ever since I read this book a decade ago, Kraft has been the one criminal I have never been able to get out of my head, the depravity and banality he displayed in equal measure are truly baffling and a testament to the darkest corners of the human underbelly. That all being said, any statements he himself has made are very seldom. Contemporarily there were a handful of quotes in the news coverage from Kraft, and one interview that McDougal references in his book. On top of that, Kraft sent a letter to the author disparaging his work which is also included in the text. More recently, Kraft had an interview with the Bay Area Reporter in 2016, which I will link to here: https://www.ebar.com/story/246748.

The one thing that has been consistently missing is any form of audio/visual capture of this monster, until now. In March of last year, Kraft recorded an interview with a “Bugsy Siegal” (alias of course) for Street Knowledge Soldiers Redemption podcast. This is the only episode of the show. Go figure. At first I dismissed this as being an impersonator capitalizing on a notorious serial killer, but then I saw one of the photos attached to the show. Try as I might, I cannot find this photo with reference to Kraft on any platform, which leads me to believe it is really him.

The episode does not include even a single reference to his crimes, rather it focuses on a discussion of his transition off of Death row in San Quentin during the Pandemic (he is still a death row inmate they merely moved him and many others off of the actual physical row). So yeah, obviously fuck this guy, but if you’re curious like I am you might be interested in hearing this guys voice. Personally, he sounded nothing like I thought he would.

. Dean Corll - Used the help of teenagers David Owen Brooks and Elmer Wayne Henley to lure a minimum of 29 boys for Corll to murder from 1970 to 1973.

. Mark Martin - A British drifter who murdered three women in 2004 and 2005. Martin used accomplices John Ashley and Dean Carr for two of the murders.

. Henry Lee Lucas - A serial killer who confessed to murdering as many as 600 people around the US with Otis Toole and abuse victim Becky Powell although Lucas only been confirmed in nine cases.

Born in New Hampshire, Holmes was highly intelligent and graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1884. He was a con artist from the start, running life insurance scams by taking out policies on fake people and using dead bodies to collect the payouts In the 1880s, Holmes moved to Chicago and opened a drugstore. He used the profits to buy a large, mixed-use building nearby. Over the next several years, he continuously modified the building, confusing his contractors.While legend says he lured hundreds of tourists visiting the 1893 World's Fair into his hotel, much of this has been debunked by modern historians. In reality, his hidden rooms were largely used to hide stolen furniture from creditors.His victims were almost always people he knew well, such as employees, lovers, and their children. He targeted them to steal their life savings and to collect on their life insurance policies. After murdering them, he would dispose of their bodies and sometimes sell their skeletons to medical schools Holmes's downfall came when he tried to fake his assistant's death for a (10,000) insurance payout. Instead of faking the death, Holmes actually murdered his assistant (Benjamin Pitezel) and three of the man's children. A clever insurance investigator tracked Holmes across the country, leading to his arrest in Boston in 1894. Police then inspected his Chicago property and found the human remains. Holmes was convicted of the Pitezel murders and hanged in Philadelphia on May 7, 1896. Before his death, he offered a chilling summary of his mind: "I was born with the devil in me.
