I wasn't involved in Scientology for long due to a lack of money. I only met one person who was "Clear," and I was struck by their charisma and ease in connecting with others.

On the other hand, I know of several famous "Clears" who committed suicide. If you reached the state of Clear: what does it feel like to be in that state? Or is it all just suggestion?

I would like to receive some information regarding the way Narconon works. A relative of mine just got admitted to Narconon Italy, I am worried and I would like to understand better based on personal experiences, but also experiences that you might have had with relatives of you that were admitted to it!

We do not know a lot about, but we are very worried due to the fact that he seems to have sometimes a good time, but most time he seems to be manipulated by the people working there.

I am an exmormon and study scientology because it helps me understand my own experiences I had as a mormon.

I have been listening to speeches from David Miscavige on Youtube, and find it very strange how the audience seems to know the exact moment when to start laughing and when to stop laughing.

Even giving Miscavige a fair chance (which he doesn't deserve), often what he is saying is not really funny, or only mildy funny, but the audience will respond in unison with enthusiastic laughter.

To me, it seems like there is a a light or signal that prompts the audience to laugh.

Or maybe the audience is so well trained that Miscavige gives subtle signals in his mode of speech that let the audience know he expects them to laugh?

Any insight is appreciated.

Many, many things in Scientology have equal explanations elsewhere, and quite a few of them are expressed better.

But despite its terrible misuse in the CofS by the "ethics" people who want others to comply with their rules, I have always found the concept of "missed withhold" useful. Not in the sense of "this explains everything," but by golly it sometimes explains some things.

For instance, I found this quote in a news story today in regard to a politician who was accused of being gay and staying in the closet. (It has a political context, but I don't care about that at the moment.)

"I believe that internal conflict creates so much vitriol inside a person, that they take it out on the rest of the world and they do," he said. "So what they do is their whole lives they've been closeted. And so you have this like black ball inside yourself, this blackened heart by the fact that you can't be who you want to be. And so you take it out on everybody else."

I think of it as a good description of a missed withhold.

But I know my own past leads me to adopt that term. What would an ordinary psychologist call this?

In the Sea Org, masturbation is basically one of the worst things you can do. It's a huge deal. And to avoid restimulating the reactive bank, you're not allowed to read or watch anything sexual. No porn. No romance novels. Nothing.

I remember hearing about a girl who got in trouble for ordering Cosmopolitan magazines. Not for the articles — she read the sex advice. That was enough to land her in hot water.

So imagine my surprise when I decided to read L. Ron Hubbard's Mission Earth series. Massive books. Sci-fi. Written by the founder himself.

And it's full of graphic sex scenes. Detailed. Explicit.

The same guy who says sex is a trap and masturbation is a crime — wrote 10 books full of dirty stuff.

This is from an email I got (I have no idea why they're spamming me with this) five days ago from Bridge Publications:

Why in the world would those networks approve that? And why is Sirius XM promoting it on their Sports channels?

This seems underdiscussed; the alien lord Xenu is clearly him penning sci-fi and such.

But add on the thetans and reincarnation, and you could see a bizarre Hinduism and Buddhist layer too.

You could also claim UFO cults inspired LRH, and they likely had some effect, but his theology seems more systematic than theirs.

And the shift from LRH's more optimistic take on former lives to what he later came up with is interesting too.

And that is not getting into just how late it appears compared to the founding of Scientology.

A colleague of mine worked at Johnson and Johnson years ago in Hamburg. On route to his working place he had to pass the bulding on Domstreet every morning with a colleague of his. And every morning both of them were harassed by the same Scientology guy (barker?) who tried to invite them in for a free auditing. After a short while they were so eroded by his everyday bugging, that his colleague threatend to beat the shit out of him, if he ever sees him again, asking to come in (Both big guys over 1,85m).

The next morning as they were approaching the entrance on their way to work, they saw him scuttling inside after he must have spotted them from a little distance. Standing behind the closed door, holding it shut, looking timidly, waiting for them to pass. He never bothered them again, neither did other Scientology "Koberer".

Met a woman on a dating app. It was good at first. Family seemed normal on the surface. After 3 months the intimacy dropped, she didn’t seem to show any emotional availability. I remember her telling me her mom was away “auditing.” I asked what that was, and she said it’s where they hook you up to a machine. (I didn’t know what Scientology was). As the relationship progressed she seemed to display narcissistic traits. Pulling away. Everything she told me about herself originally was a lie. Continued to lie and was dating other men through dating apps. She started to degrade my self esteem, and manipulate me. I ended up breaking up with her peacefully because the relationship dynamic was draining me and was unfaithful. Her and her father seemed to drink a lot but always dodged being judged an alcoholic. I blocked her on everything. But out of nowhere I got a message from her iCloud e-mail that just said “visible.” I didn’t respond to it. A few days later I see her name etched in chalk on the sidewalk where I typically go hiking. Because I knew she was cheating on me I got an std test that came up positive. She told me she had brain cancer years ago but I think it’s actually neurosyphillis. Her family lived together in communal housing in San Francisco of about 7 people back in the 90s. They seem to own nice real estate and have lots of money. Her father was in the tech/movie industry. Her mother was married twice. Still married but dating other men (Body routing) herself. Ever since I broke up with her I feel like I’m being followed. 3 weeks later I joined a meetup group on relationship trauma where I was pitched a book on dianetics and self help from Hubbard. And was asked to take a personality test. I thought this was too coincidental. Originally I thought she was just a narcissistic dismissive avoidant but now I’m realizing her family are probably Scientologists or ex members. It just feels like someone behind the scenes was forcing her to distance herself from me and that they were trying to degrade me to eventually recruit me. I remember them telling me they take vacations to Florida often. I think she might have asked me to take a personality test once but I can’t remember. The whole experience feels like a horror movie. Her and her families social media seem to have almost no activity on it at all.

"I have high hopes of smashing my name into history so violently that it will take a legendary form even if all the books are destroyed. That goal is the real goal as far I am concerned.... It's a pretty big job. In a hundred years Roosevelt will have been forgotten - which gives some idea of the magnitude of my attempt..."

L. Ron Hubbard wrote these words in a letter to his first wife in 1938.

In 1950 he wrote the bestseller 'Dianetics, the Modern Science of Mental Health'. This inspired a layman oriented mental health movement which, ultimately, developed into Scientology...

Hubbard early Dianetic and Scientology writings borrow freely from Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and the founder of General Semantics, Alfred Korzybski.

And P.T. Barnum appears to have been an inspiration.

Hubbard also took much from the writings of Aleister Crowley - self proclaimed 'Beast 666'. This is a major source of embarrassment...

In the 1960s Hubbard Incorporated brainwashing into the subject. He.established the Fair Game policy...

THE POWER OF LOCATIONALS

For those independent Scientologist that are not current members, you can begin increasing your own awareness by using solo induced locationals.

Take a daily walk outside and mentally and silently command yourself (since this is usually done with an auditor) PERCEIVE IT/ DUPLICATE IT when communicating between two object (let's say a leaf and a wooden branch). Take note of any mental internal monologue, facsimile, imagination (they usually feel as heavy energy) an identify it with the objective of As-Issing it. You want pure zero energy attention in applying the drill because trying to analyze, explain or distract is Alter-Issing --- which is a flunk.

In perceiving you are examining through perception (touching, viewing, smelling, etc. but not analytically). You are perceiving the object and noticing it a new, in a fresh way of lookingness with zero energy input. No Verbal thoughts, No analysis, No internal monologues. If they pop up use your TR-0 Bullbait posture don't feed it more energy. Just notice it, identify it and let it As-Is with no counter-force or effort. Some people may feel at this point exteriorized. Experience the object's full Is-ness without distortion. You are in present moment communicating with the object.

In duplicating you draw back a little to notice the gestalt of the entire instance of the perception, a copy of it if you will (don't take a snapshot of it by closing your eyes and visualizing, that only creates a facsimile, i.e. an Alter-Is)

Duplicate it! ends the command to start a new to the next objects.

Eventually, done daily, you will notice that you become aware of being aware in between the command and objects, which the characteristic of operating exteriorized. That awareness begins to strengthen and you will begin to notice the difference between MEST and your awareness level as an observing and detached Thetan.

Caveat: You have to learn to differentiate when your are imagining (mocking-up), observing a facsimile (memory) and internal monologue (adding strings and strings of considerations). They have different energy "weight." That's called Spot-Differentiation. It will allow you to release yourself from the mental automaticity.

You may also excite a COGNITION, which is a subtle, sudden and sparking energy followed by physical sense of relief since it it As-Issing a past unresolved problem or modifying a current thinkigness anew.

Naturally, all of this is done best with an auditor, or coach if you will.

I know they are infamous for keeping in contact with people for years but I've heard from a few people that they just emailed the CoS and politely asked to be removed from their lists and they actually stopped.

Martin Gardner's "Fads and Fallacies....." book is a must read, to see how L. Ron Hubbard was correctly pegged when Hubbard came out with the Dianetics quackery (fetal trauma pseudo-therapy).

And MOST IMPORTANT of the book, to try remember, are the characteristics of cranks and crackpots which Gardner lays out in Chapter 1.

It's Scientology/L. Ron Hubbard must read foundational criticism aimed at Hubbard, which has never been untrue. Hubbard fits the crank crackpot bill.

I have two questions not related to one another

1) Does Staff that works for scientology but is not in SO actually get a proper salary or is it also mostly unpaid work

2) What level does a scientologist require to go to flag? Can anyone go or only scientologists who already attained a certain leven?

I'm just kinda confused about its purpose. The woman working the machine had it dialled in to the calibrated position, or whatever it's called. She had me hold the cans and asked me to think of something stressful. I wanted to do the test properly so I thought of events from my teenage years that cause me a lot of stress when I think about them. My heart was pounding during the chat, and my partner pointed out how red/flushed my neck was after.

While she was setting up the calibration, I realised that the tighter I held the cans the further to the right the needle would tick. So, while talking about and bringing up stressful events, I just made sure to keep my hands relaxed and the dial went to the left.

I'm not sure what the e-reader is trying to look for. It seemed like as long as you can feel the emotion of stress but don't allow your hands to tense then the machine won't indicate that you're stressed.

I'm asking this in good faith, I'm genuinely curious about it and if my experience was unique or if this is how most people use the e-reader?

How is it handled within the church when a member grossly fails to uphold a tenet of the religion or commits a direct action that violates Scientology’s moral code? Particularly when the member is a prominent figure and massive donor?

I’m curious about what reporting misconduct (not criminal, to be clear) would look like if you’re an outsider from the religion.

Out of curiosity I have been reading l Ron Hubbards books. Not just dianetics and Scientology but also the fiction stories. I have about 20 books. I have been looking into what it would mean to try and read things from the start. Like from the first book, but it is almost impossible to find everything he has written.

Obviously the fiction books are not super hard to come by, and a few random ones pop up here and there. The Scientology ones have been random and in no order. And I know there are more secretive writing that go with some of this and I’m just wondering if there would be any way to make a complete library of his books/writings. And how would you put it in order?

I know there is close to 600 stories, books and writings but how would you even go about collecting that amount or where would you even get them? I know most are available online but I’m a physical material person and if my only option is pay astronomical amounts of money I will need more links to some documents because my printer will be busy!

Not idolizing him, I am intrigued where he went crazy, if he ever made sense. Does his fiction leak into Scientology in tiny bits? I have so many questions

I am looking for a Free Zone or Ron's Org Letter that I read like 15 years ago, that I think is from the 80s.

It was from Ron, but he reveals his Thetan name or something. He talks about 16 or 40 OT levels that he finished outside of the main Scientology church. And that he had to set up a side group or something because the main Church was taken over by the government or aliens or something. I think it was a sort of open letter to Scientologists as a whole to come over to the new group or something. Like I said, I read it nearly 15 years ago and don't fully remember what it said. I really wanted to find it again. Any help with be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

EDIT: I know all about Rons Org, and Free Zone. I am not a follower of either. Im just looking for this letter and nothing else. I already know all the viewpoints about the different groups and people. I just need to find this exact letter. Im not even fully sure it was connected to Rons Org or Free Zone. It might have been fanfiction for all I know. But because of the contents of the letter, and the similarities to Rons Org, I assume there is a connection.

When I see people posting here about the positive experiences they have had with Scientology, it seems to be concentrated in either the introductory services like study tech and the communications course or the auditing that happens at the earlier levels (hence you will get people talking about the kind of benefits a preclear would expect to get).

I do understand that fewer people ever reach those levels, but I don't want to just assume that the benefits aren't there at the upper levels.

So if you have had benefits I would be interested in hearing about it.
