Today me and my classmate had booked a study room to work on upcoming assessment. When we were in the room there was a women in her maybe late 30s she could be a professor or student idk walking up and down giving us death stares a couple of times and then walking into the study room 5 min later and telling us “have u booked this room” i said yes but then she said “i need this room’ i said “no” since we booked it first she then rolls her eyes at us and slams the door hard. Wtf is this attitude i was so confused, just go fkn book another room its not hard.

I’m an international student who recently completed the Master of Engineering (Civil) at RMIT.
After completing all of my coursework, RMIT marked my program as complete and I received my completion statement. A few days later, my completion status was revoked, I lost access to my completion documents, and I was told that I could not graduate because I still needed to complete the Engineering Professional Practice (EPP) requirement (210 hours)

As an international student, I genuinely had no idea that this was a separate graduation requirement. I don’t remember it ever being clearly explained during my studies, so finding out only after completing my degree was a complete shock.

What makes this even more confusing is that I submitted my engineering work experience documents when I applied for admission to RMIT. If the EPP requirement is mandatory and engineering work experience completed within the past three years can be counted towards it, why wasn’t my work experience assessed earlier? If those documents could have been reviewed, this issue could have been identified and resolved before I completed my degree, instead of after my completion and graduation eligibility were revoked.

It’s been really upsetting and frustrating. I honestly don’t know what to do now. I’ve contacted the EPP coordinator and the STEM Student Lifecycle team, but I still don’t have a clear solution or know what will happen next.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Were you aware of the EPP requirement before finishing your degree?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through a similar situation or has any advice. Thank you.

I have a 50% exam in a couple of hours and I’m having problems with my password so i can’t get into canvas and it’s been disabled for a bit :(.

In 2023 I began the Bachelor of Engineering Honours BH126 this is a 1 year long course which requires you to choose your desired engineering specialisation after completion. I chose Bachelor of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering which I began in 2024. In the EPP Module Handbook it says students who commenced an undergraduate degree before semester 1 2024 are exempt from having to do EPP. Since the Bachelors of Engineering Honours is not a full degree and is meant for you to transfer into desired engineering course, am I exempt or do I still need to fulfill the EPP requirements? I've contacted RMIT connect regarding this, but they haven't responded yet, just wanted some answers.

THE COURSE IM DOING (medical radiation) REQUIRED 3 DOSES OF COVID BOOSTER TO BE ABLE TO GO ON PLACEMENT.

HOWEVER, I ONLY MANAGED TO GET THE 2ND ONE SO FAR, AND THE 3RD ONE IS SCHEDULED TO BE DONE ON AUGUST, SPECIFICALLY 5 DAYS AFTER PLACEMENT HAS ALREADY BEGIN. 😭 😭 😭 😭

SO I SUBMIT A DOCUMENT STATING CLEARLY THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET THE DEADLINE (DEADLINE WAS AT THE END OF JUNE), AND ASK IF THE WIL TEAM CAN GIVE ME AN EXTENSION.

The catch is, the WIL team SAW the document i submitted, and is FULLY AWARE that I can only get the 3rd vaccine in August and they approved of my document and gave me an extra 5 days after the deadline ended. 😭😭😭
HOWEVER AFTER THOSE 5 DAYS PASS, THEY JUST TOLD ME I FAILED TO MEET THE DEADLINE AND TOLD ME TO DROP THE COURSE??? HOW DOES THAT WORK?? I THOUGHT THEY APPROVED OF MY DOCUMENT??

Hello. I'm thinking of applying for RMIT’s Master of Translating & Interpreting with Malay as my LOTE. The handbook says it only runs if enough students enrol. Does Malay actually run often? Or do people usually end up in the non‑language‑specific stream? Any experiences appreciated! I contacted the uni about this about a week ago-ish but haven’t received a reply yet, so I’m hoping current or past students might have some/any info!

I did 3 subjects semester 1 rmit bcom, tried to transfer into uni Melb bcom and didn’t get in. Still at rmit bcom, I don’t know if I should do 3 or 4 subjects for semester 2 (first year). By doing 3 my ATAR will be considered with a bigger percentage at end of year - when I apply again to unimelb bcom, which Idm cuz my atar was 90+. And also I get to focus more on 3 subjects and possibly higher wam. If I do 4, less atar and could be harder to get a higher wam. It seems like a no brainer to do 3 but I need to know if I’m overlooking something or missing nuance to this decision. My long term goal is to do bcom at unimelb major in accounting. I’m very persistent and stuck on this goal.

Basically what the title says. I’m currently in my fourth semester and I’m honestly fed up with this. I’ve had a few lecturers like this before, but this semester it’s just too much.
The lecturer just walks into class and reads the same slides that are already on Canvas, barely explains anything, and doesn’t engage with students at all. The class ends up getting louder because people lose interest, and I honestly don’t blame them. This doesn’t happen in my other classes where the lecturers actually put effort into teaching.
If anyone wondering it is Big Data, and I’d drop it if it wasn’t a mandatory course. I’m paying 5k for this course, so expecting more than someone reading PowerPoint slides doesn’t seem unreasonable.
What I don’t understand is why students keep tolerating this and still give these courses high
ratings?

Well recently, ive been approached by a group of id say students?
They started off asking "where's K mart?" Which i found it weird especially there's only one K mart in the city, even im an international student and knows where the kmart is. They went on and started making small chats about my day and what im doing. Then they asked if id like to hang, which i found it weird as well cuz they barely know who i am then asked if i had any socials which i didnt give, i mean who just gives out their socials to a random person. Ive been approached 3 times in the past year and ive been seeing them around the city multiple times talking to strangers.
Am i right to be concerned or are aussies too friendly?

Having all of my classes in Bundoora this semester. A pretty drastic shift from the city life in the city campus and one of the differences are the lack of food and cafes or places to go after classes. Do you guys have any recommendations to go near Bundoora aside from their cafeteria or do you just go home after classes? Any advice would be great to make my classes there less depressing.

I need help with selecting a pathway. so my end goal is to be a crime scene investigator / criminologist/ forensics officer / detective . I want to go to crime scenes, work on cases start to finish, investigate, you get it. so i’ve been looking into VE courses at RMIT for 2027 and the careeers team at my school has found me a pathway that they think will be great for my future. First, i’ll begin with the Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques in february, once that is completed they said I can move forward with a Bachelor of Science.

I’ve been pretty happy about this information until last night i really thought about it and realised that doesn’t really seem right since Laboratory Techniques has nothing to do with crime and I don’t want to waste a year on a course if it’s going to be useless anyways. So I went on the RMIT website and put in that i want to be a criminologist and it came up with a WHOLE new pathway. First it says start with a Cert IV in Marketing and Communication for 6 months, move onto an Associate Degree in Legal Practice (Paralgeal) for 2 years, then a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice.

If anybody has studied these courses or has wanted to be a criminologist and is/has studied at RMIT, advice and information would be very much appreciated as applications open in 2 weeks and i don’t know what to do.

Hello everyone, I was going to join UniMelb for the February intake but after talking to a current UniMelb student, I really need advice.

I will be pursuing BsC with data science as my major. The student told me that RMIT offers a more practical and job ready approach whereas UniMelb is very theoretical. However they added that UniMelb gets you better placements at companies due to their reputation and connections.

I was thinking about doing my masters in data science or any other subject after working for about a year or two. So what do you think I should do? Please HELP ME AHHHH!!!1

how likely is it that the heart in the timetable is accepted. i want to swap around 3 classes but they’re all full and im scared to heart on all of them because if on or two dont get accepted it would result in a clash and a very weird and messy timetable. isnt it based on someone dropping that class? it would make my timetable way better than it is now. i’m in year 2 so wouldn’t that mean people are less likely to drop their classes?

Is their any way I can find the marksheet for semester result not like the individual prints of each course but uk all together for the sem ???

Hey everyone! I'm a journalism student at RMIT and recently came across several posts on this subreddit discussing students being approached by religious groups around Building 80 and the city campus.

For an article I'm writing on campus safety and the experiences of students at RMIT, I'm looking to speak with students who have interacted with these recruiters or groups. In particular, I'm interested in hearing about how people were approached, whether they felt pressured to engage, and any concerns they may have had about the experience.

I'm also interested in reports that some groups may disproportionately approach students from particular cultural or ethnic backgrounds, and I'd like to better understand whether this has been the case.

If you require guidance for the 420 EPP hours (e.g info on Band 1/2/3, OENG1299 Professional Engineering Experience, internships, seminars and workshops), please join RMIT Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (REECE).

Note that the 420 hours concerns all students who commenced their studies after Semester 1, 2024.

They are an excellent club with such exceptional leadership - they provide so much for members and have immense industry and academic support. A very friendly and helpful community as a whole.

Rest assured the new executive team recently reinstated has been doing a wonderful job so far.

P.S I was not asked to do this - this is purely just for all students not already in the club to please join, as they will support you with your EPP hours as well as any plans for your internships, graduate programs, entry level roles as well as overall RMIT activities!

I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

i know this RMIT purposes only but i seriously need help

I recently had to drop my Cert IV DIisablity because I was struggling to balance my work roster with classes. I was getting shifts that clashed with my study schedule, and it became too difficult to manage as I had to swap shifts constantly, which they were getting upset

I originally went back to McDonald’s because I couldn’t find any other work at the time. I had worked there before for around 2–3 years, so I thought going back would be easy and familiar.

Since returning, I honestly feel like I’m slower than I used to be. I know the basics, but after being away for a while, I’m not as fast as I was before. A license admin told me it was “quite concerning” that I was working slowly because I had previous McDonald’s experience. I understand they have expectations because I’ve worked there before, but I feel like after being away for years you wouldn’t instantly be back to your old speed.

I’ve now found another retail job, which I’m interested in, but I don’t know my regular hours yet. McDonald’s wants me to keep morning availability to continue getting shifts, but I’m pretty sure the retail job is weekend friday-sunday

At this point, I’m unsure whether I should keep McDonald’s as a backup until I know my retail hours, or move on and focus on the new job and hopefully return to studying later.

Has anyone else had to choose between work and study? How did you manage it?

Currently in week 1 of the semester (posting this on the monday) and i added my preferences on the timetable with the heart feature, did i heart the classes to late to be able to swap my classes? Im terrified that i wont be moved to my hearted/preferred classes at all and would like to know if anyone else has expereinced the same thanks!
