Feeling lost
Friday, July 17. My Husband and I made the hard decision of letting go of Maggie. This wasn't an easy decision, it was very hard lots of going back and forth. Lots of questioning our decision and mostly lots of guilt .
5 or so months ago Maggie had surgery to remove lumps that were growing on her head, under her front leg and abdominal area. The lump on her head was tested and it came back stage 2 sarcoma cancer. We kept her very comfortable during her healing, however her lumps decided to grow back , not only that but a month ago she fully ruptured her ligament on her back right leg.
She was struggling alot and we could see she wasn't doing well. We didn't want the rest of her life being pain meds, surgery and just not being able to be herself.
We decided to do at home euthanasia, we made her as comfortable as possible .
Maggie was 10 years old, she would have been 11 In January . She was loved very deeply and she is very missed.
The house is so quiet and we are so broken inside.

My Lucy would have been 14 tomorrow
I lost my beautiful girl on May 25 and it has been lonely ever since. When I was 11 my dad took her from the yard of a man who bred dogs for fighting. He brought her back to the car and sat her in my lap. She peed on me immediately. In October I bought my first home and she came to live with me. We established a daily routine and I was immensely grateful to spend each and every day with her. I never took a moment for granted and would spend as much time with her as I possibly could. I work from home so this meant all day everyday. She would sleep beside me every night and we had this night time routine where she would be sassy when I would take too long to get to bed. She loved to sleep in so usually I would wake her up and we’d snuggle but on the times where she’d wake up first she’d lay right on me and we’d cuddle. She would’ve been 14 tomorrow. I thought I had more time… I thought she would’ve made it through the summer. I am grateful she made it through my birthday. That night was the last night we ever slept in the bed together and it was the greatest gift of all. Leading up to her passing she was struggling to walk and get around, but I truly believe she struck it out for as long as she did for me. Some days are harder than others, but honestly I don’t want it to get easier because that would mean I’m getting acclimating to my life without her. I am so grateful I got to know her and the life we shared. I really hope heaven is real and I will be reunited with her. I love you forever my Lucy Goosie

Chichi and Jericho, you left this world free💔🌈🪽
galleryMy heart is so broken today. 💔
Chichi and Jericho suddenly passed away today. They were sharing the same room at the shelter. Chichi passed peacefully in her sleep, and then Jericho suddenly started having a nosebleed and passed away shortly after.
The shelter owner and caretakers told us that neither of them had shown any symptoms before today. They had good energy, healthy appetites, were eating well, and taking their vitamins. Everything happened so fast.
I honestly don't even know what to say.
This hurts so much.
The shelter they were staying at was actually such a wonderful place. It was always clean, they were well cared for, they had room to move around, good food, and people who genuinely loved them. I know they were safe there.
But I can't erase the damage that years of neglect did to your little bodies. I can't undo the years you spent abandoned, crammed into a tiny cage, or everything your previous owner put you through. Maybe the damage had already been done long before we found you. I don't know. I really don't know anymore.
I was finally starting to feel hopeful. We had just started receiving adoption applications for some of our other rescued dogs, and for the first time in a while, it felt like things were looking up. Then today happened, and it just broke me all over again.
..
Even through all this pain, I find comfort in knowing that your last chapter was nothing like your first. You weren't forgotten anymore. You got to experience kindness, full meals, new playmates, and the freedom you were denied for so many years.
Run free now, Chichi and Jericho. I'm so sorry I couldn't give you more time. Thank you for letting me be part of your journey. You were loved so deeply, and you always will be. 🤍🌈
💔
P.S.
We will get MaeMae checked by the vet.

I lost my baby
My baby was only about 4 weeks old when I adopted him 3 days ago and we don't know why he passed away. It was cruel, his face got twisted in a weird angle and he was spasming and even screamed in pain. My poor angel. He was so loving and playful and I pray no rabbit owner ever witnessed what I witnessed. Just wanted to share my little bundle of joy before he passed.

Our first pet crossed the Rainbow Bridge tonight 🌈. How do you ever come to terms with it?
Today we had to make the hardest decision of our lives and say goodbye to our baby girl, Burberry.
She was diagnosed with Stage C heart disease, and when her condition suddenly deteriorated, we rushed her to the emergency vet. There wasn't anything more that could be done, and the kindest thing we could do was let her go peacefully. Even though I know it was the right decision, it feels unbearable.
Burberry was a dwarf Persian that we rescued from a dumpster about 2-3 years ago. When we first found her, the vets thought she was only around 8–10 months old, but later believed she was likely between 5 and 8 years old. We never knew her exact age, but to us she was always just our tiny baby.
She had the sweetest temperament I've ever known. She never hissed, scratched, or bit anyone. She adored attention, chin scratches, being hand-fed, and she had the softest, sweetest little meows. She would happily let us clip her claws or clean the little eye boogers from her face without ever complaining.
She had so many funny little quirks. Despite having a luxurious bed, she'd rather sleep on the floor or on her favorite cardboard scratcher. She loved playing with crumpled tin foil and lollipop sticks more than any expensive toy. She'd sit and watch my mom cook as if she was supervising dinner, and she always had to be involved in whatever we were doing. If we were watching TV or on our phones, she wanted to watch too. She'd make her little rounds through the house just to check on everyone.
Her name was Burberry, but most of the time we just called her "Baby," and she always responded.
I can't stop thinking about the moment after she passed. I kissed her little head goodbye, and she was still warm. That moment keeps replaying in my mind. It doesn't feel real. It feels like she's supposed to come around the corner any minute asking for scratches or following us into another room.
We haven't even been able to move her half-eaten food yet because everything happened so suddenly. Just hours earlier we thought we were taking her to get help, not to say goodbye forever.
She was our first pet, and we loved her with everything we had. We spoiled her endlessly because she deserved it. I keep asking myself why something so gentle, innocent, and loving had to suffer from such a cruel disease. It just doesn't feel fair.
For those of you who've lost your first soul pet... how did you cope? How did you accept that they were really gone?
Thank you for reading about our sweet little Baby. I hope, wherever she is now, she's healthy, pain-free, getting endless chin scratches, and surrounded by all the crumpled tin foil balls and cardboard scratchers she could ever want.
We miss her so much already.

Goodbye Riley
Today was the day I knew would eventually come, the day I had to say goodbye to Riley.
Making new memories with Riley end today but I have ENDLESS amounts of them to hold on to till the day I die. The most I'll miss about her is when I would get home from work she would act like she hasn't seen me in weeks, I was the joy in her life and she was mine.
Riley was the only dog I have ever owned and its hitting me pretty hard right now. I've had to put my cat down many years ago but a dog just hit different.
I just wanted to vent a little bit and just let everyone know to give your pup a hug and love them hard!
RIP Riley 2014-2026

RIP Kizzy.
Yesterday I lost my bestie. She was 14 and past away in my arms. I am absolutely devastated. She has been there for me through some of the most horrible times in my life. She was there for me when my mum died, my marriage failed and was there for my 3 redundancies and my health scares. She was always a smiling happy face. When I was in a shit mood she always made me feel better.
I am really really going to miss that smelly, big eyed girl who just knew how to make me happy. RIP Kizzy, you will be so missed and always in my heart and thoughts.

How do I procces grief?
I recently lost my puppy and don't know how to feel. Just for a little background, I was in a very toxic friendship for more than half my life and was not allowed to socialize (because of my toxic friend) for most of my developmental years growing up. When she left me, I finally cut all connections to her
As a college entrance present my parents got me a puppy, barely a week old, was gonna be sent to a breeder and my parents saved him.
He was told to be a Pekingese but had a longer nose and was white, but I wasn't complaining because I was happy that he could breath easily compared to other Pekingese dogs.
My puppy grew up with me, he was raised with me (a very quiet person) an elderly dog (who didn't bark unless it was necessary) and two cats so he was very quiet too. Didnt bark and loved sleeping like a human (cuddling, head on the pillow, tucked in).
After my friend left me I only had this dog for around five years. I could not make any friends and it came to the point I had started to view and act like my puppy was an actual human being. Kind of a parasocial relationship I guess? Is that what it's called?
Beginning of this year I finally made human friends after five years of only having my puppy and cat, but mostly my puppy.
After February where we had to put down my elderly dog (he was a 15 year old sharpei and could not hear, his legs couldnt support him and had Alzheimer's) my puppy was diagnosed with Addison's disease. I genuinely thought it was supposed to be me and my puppy against the world but it was not, we couldn't afford the needle since it wasn't available in my country and the pills didn't work.
In his last week he would spend his days sitting in the middle of the road in front of my house watching the sunset or following me to the end of the street when I walked out to a cafe nearby
I did not realize he was dead. I sat there I ate my lunch and watched YouTube like any other day and he was dead under the couch. According to the vet he died peacefully in his sleep, no attacks or pain but we realized he was dead as my mum came home to take him to the vet to take his shot as we were able to afford it. The visit was supposed to be one day earlier but the vet had an emergency and couldn't take us in.
That day I also learned my grandmother got taken to the hospital because of cancer and had to visit her and
It has been two months since that day. My dad says I ended up cradling my puppy's corpse for around 2/3 hours until animal control came and took him. I sent him off with his favorite blanket
I was supposed be having a great summer but my sleep schedule is completely fucked. I sleep at 8 am wake up at 10 pm get out of my bed at around 7pm to eat something, I lost 3 kilos (7 pounds), constantly live off distractions like my phone or video games, I have not met up with someone, talked to anyone or got out my house even once for two months, I put the phone down and start crying I'm tired of crying it just makes my head hurt
The worst part is my uncle is off somewhere because of work and left is Pekingese with me. I see him and throw up at least once every two days. Not even the same colour and way too energetic to be my boy but every time I look I feel like my puppy is there. I'm tired of living like this please someone help

A whole month without our Mako 💔
I’ve never experienced such gut wrenching grief. It hurts unbearably for so many reasons. I shared a post previously, to sum things up; my husband and I lost our precious 2.5 year old baby to a rattlesnake bite. I still can’t process that he’s gone…He was everywhere we went. There is this overwhelming emptiness in the house and in my heart. His kitty brother misses him so much, constantly crying out especially at night time. My heart breaks for him, he never got along with my mom’s cat and when I moved out and we got Mako, they became the bestest of friends. I’ve never seen such a bond, i’d never seen my cat be so loving. They were always next to each other and now he is all alone ):
How do you ever truly move forward? Loved ones say they are here for us and that they understand, but none of them understands the pain of losing a dog so suddenly and unexpectedly. Can anyone else here relate? How do you cope with the years and years you dreamed of spending together, that were stolen? This is the hardest part for me. We are having a baby due next month and dreamed of them growing up together. Mako was going to be the best, most gentle, silly, loving companion ever. It’s so unfair. We love dogs and will undoubtedly get another one down the road, but it almost feels wrong to even say that or think of it. They will never ever be him. I just want our bubby back. Just one more kiss, one more cuddle, one more moment to feel his fluffiness.
I’ve never had a dog before. He was my first dog and I was so attached to him. I suffer from anxiety and he soothed me. I joked that he was my emotional support dog but he really was…I find myself trembling and shaking more recently, my chest gets heavy, and I wake up to panic attacks when the image of him after he was attacked pops into my mind. It’s unbearable. I reach out, and he’s not there in bed. I just want to hug him. The weight of yearning to be near him again is just horrible.
I find comfort in the fact that he smiled the whole time. Our boy was so strong and brave we thought nothing was wrong…He just wanted to cuddle. We didn’t even know it was a rattlesnake bite until it was too late and the vet told us 😭 I wish we could have saved you. It feels so stupid, so irresponsible. We have gone to therapy and she told me we cannot beat ourselves up over fate. That we couldn’t have known this was going to happen, and there’s nothing we could have done to prevent it. I just wish I could build a time machine…I wish we were outside and could have scared the snake away. He loved being outside and we put him out often by himself because our yard is fenced. I wish we realized what happened sooner and maybe we could have saved you. We never saw this coming it just hit us like a truck…
I can’t wait until I see you again one day Mako ❤️🩹

Lost the house goat today
Lost our favorite little doofus Finn today. Last week I lost my grandmother. I was not ready to compound the grief. My wife is inconsolable and I am out of words of comfort. This is our seventh rescue English bulldog and it never gets easier. His sister Olive is still trying to figure out where her brother went and so are we. Mangy, a belly full of rocks, cleft palette and wandering the streets of Miami is how we found this little guy and my word how he blossomed into an amazing member of our family. He will leave a difficult to fill hole in our lives.
