Hi all. Im planning a trip to Old Quebec to propose to my girlfriend. I have booked a room at the Frontenac for the weekend and figured i would get a carriage ride.

I reached out to Caleches Quebec via their website and was responded to by a couple of different people via email. The one person I responded to was very polite and helpful and suggested their proposal package which sounded great. However, when I went to book it on the site there was no option for that. Only the romance package. When I emailed him about it, he said he would have to send me a link to book as this was a special service. The link he sent me looked like the exact same interface as the website so I paid.

Then I sent an email back asking when we should start the planning process. I received no reply until yesterday, about a week after my email. This spooked me a little so I called the number at 10am this morning and was instructed to leave a voicemail. I left a message explaining my concern and just wanted to confirm I have a reservation. I have yet to get a call back from them and that was 8 hours ago. Should I be concerned? Does anyone have any experience with this company? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

My wife and I are visiting Quebec City for 3 nights and staying in Old Quebec. We are looking for recommendations for lunch and dinner.

We are looking for cozy, relaxed, and comfortable restaurants rather than formal fine dining. We enjoy places with a nice atmosphere where we can take our time and enjoy the meal.

We are especially interested in meat-focused dishes (steak, beef, grilled meats, French/Quebec cuisine, etc.), but we are open to other local favourites as well.

Any recommendations for must-try restaurants or hidden gems in Old Quebec or nearby?

PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM LOOKING FOR PLACES WHICH ARE COZY AND RELAX AND LESS FORMAL.

Staying in Quebec city for 3 days (July end). Any suggestions for places to see nearby Quebec city. Heard about Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier for stargazing.. is it worth it?

Hello (Bonjour!) Everybody,

Fiancee and I are planning to visit for 3 nights during Christmas week for the first time and are excited to simply walk around and soak in the atmosphere. Currently have hotels and restaurant reservations for 12/24 - 12/27 in Old Town. Unfortunately, just found out that the German Christmas Markets close on 12/23 per their website (it seems the last day of operation is 12/22?)

Ideally, we'd be open to adding one day to the trip and arriving 12/23 to be able to experience the Christmas Markets, but I'm hesitant since it seems like 12/22 will be the actual last day.

We are also open to shifting our visit to 12/19-12/22. But I would love to hear from anyone here - would we be losing out on a lot of the Christmas spirit by sticking with our current dates and totally missing the Markets? Any other factors we should consider when it comes to our trip timing?

At the end of the day, we're visiting to walk around, ice skate in front of the castle, see some sights, enjoy the vibes, eat good food (extremely excited for Taniere!) Any feedback is appreciated :)

Looking for recommendations near 3rd Ave in Limoilou and old Quebec. Doesn't have to be veggie only, just have some good options on the menu. Most places I've looked at have cheese and that's about it.

Hey everyone! My family and I (3 kids ages 12,10 and 8, and hubby) will be coming from southern Ontario to Quebec City July 25-30. We are super excited! We don’t speak a lick of french, and some of the research iv done has been either confusing or lacks details… but what are some food recommendations and things to do!
We are staying at the palace royal, we plan to spend Sunday exploring old Quebec, Monday we are planning to do whale watching and exploring more of Quebec when we return , Tuesday we would like to do the national park to see the beautiful mountains and rivers, and do the aquarium. And Wednesday we are gunna do the falls and the island (I hear it’s amazing! Full of shops, food and beautiful views). Thursday we are headed to Granby to do the zoo, then we are headed home Friday. Looking for kid friendly places, excellent poutine place (can’t go to Quebec and not try a REAL poutine!), best pastry/dessert places and of course some of your must see places and things to do. We are really looking forward to this trip, and experiencing the culture and seeing the beautiful sights we don’t get to see in Ontario.

Bonjour! My partner and I are looking to visit from Burlington, VT. We love hiking and camping, but he wants to be in an air bnb for part of the time. We wanted to go somewhere north of QC City.

I was looking at Parc Jaques Cartier, and Hautes Gorges, and Charlevoix Parks. I am also super open to other things. I do not need a village or town or anything. Looking for a beautiful region to explore where we can find a place to stay (air bnb + camping),. We will be in QC City for a night or two so no need for too much access to civilization while we are in our wilderness section of the trip! We were thinking of parc Jaques cartier but it seemed a little too touristy. Not sure if that is an accurate assessment.

What is the least touristy? What has the most beautiful hikes? We have a week away, total. No back country camping, but we would love to do something like Gaspesie-esque (not super duper touristy, pretty remote) but closer to us. Campgrounds, also would love to do a hut - overnight at some point.

Another question….

If we do go to parc jaques cartier (it is so close to QC City so could be good for camping), which sepaq site there is the best? There is de la valee, espaece vr. Des Alluvions. Grand-Duc. L’Escarpement. La Betulaie. Le Heron. Le Morillon. Les Hirondelles.

Current plan is to stay 3 nights with 2 full days in the city, and we're planning to stay in Old Quebec.

I'm currently deciding between Hôtel Château Laurier and Clarendon Hotel. For those who have stayed at either, which would you recommend? Is the breakfast package worth adding?

I'd also love recommendations for:

- Nice dinner/launch restaurants (local favourites, French cuisine, or must-try places)

- Best things to do and see during a 2-day visit

So far, we're thinking about exploring Old Quebec, Château Frontenac, Petit-Champlain, and the city walls, but I'd love to hear what locals or frequent visitors would prioritize.

Bonjour, I am visiting next month and am on a bit of a budget so I can only treat myself to one nice dinner. I prefer something that will feel like an experience since I am not a classical foodie but do enjoy unique experiences.

Thinking about taking a family trip (2 adults and 2 teens) for a week in August. I have a bunch of questions!

It's too expensive to stay downtown so we are looking at 3rd Ave in Limoilou - good idea? Bad? We like local but also want to be near touristy things

Is old Quebec walkable from Limoilou? What else is there to do in that area?

How many days should we expect to explore Old Quebec? Do we need to plan destinations or can we just wander around and find things to do? Do we need to book stuff like museum tickets in advance?

Is it worth going to Ile d'Orléans? What is there to do there? Would it be a day trip or like 2 hrs and you are done? Same with Montmorency Falls?

Should we leave the car at our ABNB or is there parking? Other ways to get around - Bus, Uber, Taxi?

I want to have a general plan of what we are doing so I don't spend the whole time googling locations and things to do but I don't need a full itinerary unless there are must see recommendations. The kids requested the mall, ferry, petit champlain district and the falls.

I was told to book dinner reservations because places fill up. Do we need to book lunch too? Open to ideas for that. Casual, but I want to try local food, not things I can get back home. And we love coffee shops and book stores.

I am in Quebec City for 5 days in early August and was hoping to get out for a whitewater paddle near Quebec City. I am coming over from Vancouver Island and would love to explore your rivers.

Any recommendations for a guided, one day, class 2/3 whitewater canoe trip?

I am flying and won't have my gear or boat with me, so I would have to rent or pay extra for it to be supplied.
