I just got my scores back and I didn’t do as well as I expected :(.

Could I even apply to any schools with these scores? I am aware that I do have to retake but is it even worth it to apply to any schools?

As the title says I just got an interview invite to Roseman as a low stat applicant (3.4 cum gpa 3.0 sgpa 430 DAT). Does anyone have any advice or tips about how to do well on the interview process? Or just any advice for Roseman In general?

This is my first time reapplying and while I was reviewing my application I saw there is another question now for when you reapply about what’s new about my new application and what I’ve been doing but honestly other than I retook the DAT last October everything is the same and I haven’t done any new shadowing or work dental related so like what do I even put in there😭 all I’ve been doing is working really and is not even dental related what does everyone recommend I put?

Title says it all. I know it’s hard to find upper-level bio courses offered online, but if anyone knows of any school that does I’d love to heard about it. It’d be impossible for me to get in-person credits without entirely changing my field of work

I hate RC! Are my chances cooked for this cycle :,)? To add to my misery, i am an international applicant. Is it worth it to even apply bc 360 be screened right out?! Is there any schools i should defo defo avoid

Hey yall, I just received a provisional hold from une an hour ago. It the email states:
“The preliminary review of your application is now complete, and all required components have been received. Your application has been placed on provisional hold and will be reviewed again as the cycle progresses.”
So does this mean I got rejected?? I applied July 4th and I didn’t receive any secondary from them.

Disclaimer: Cost is not a concern and never will be a concern. I also understand that students can realistically specialize out of any school. However, some schools do make it easier than others/push that more among their students (ex. Columbia).

If it helps, my IS school is UMKC, but I wanted to know whether I'll have as equal a chance of specializing out of there as I will at these other schools. Again, debt is not a concern at all for me (even for residency).

For those who got the KIRA email on Monday, have y'all received the link yet? I still haven't received the link after getting the invitation email. Have others received it? Has the "reasonable period of time" passed, and is it appropriate to contact the school?

I did all of my pre reqs in person, but one of the schools I’m applying to requires extra courses and accepts online classes (Roseman). If I take an online class to fill their requirements will other schools look down on seeing that on my transcript?

In other words, not all schools accept online classes, and most look down on them, but if the online classes aren’t needed to fill pre reqs will those schools still dislike seeing them?

Obviously it’s better to do in person classes, but it’s not possible for me due to work obligations. I really want to apply to roseman and will take this class just to apply there, but I’m hesitant to do it if it’ll lower my chances at other schools.

I work as a dental assistant part-time and the doctor I work with is super nice and she’s been like a mentor, answering questions I ask her and supporting me. But she’s Polish and English is not her first language, so her speaking can be a little broken at times.

I also shadowed an OMFS dentist and was very attentive and had a good couple days of shadowing, and he showed me business/realistic sides of dentistry and offered to write me a recommendation letter.

I also am shadowing a general dentist that I am very attentive with as well, and have been with him for 90+ hours. He teaches me about nondentistry related things too, like finances and how to spend “dentist money” in a smart way.

So my question is who should I ask to write me a recommendation letter? With the first dentist, I worry that she won’t be able to fully articulate what I hope she would, just because English isn’t her first language. The second one is a competitive specialty and the dentist is so lively and has such a bubbly personality, and offered to write me one. The third I feel like I’ve stuck with the longest and learned from the most, and he also has a good personality.

I’d like to know if I personally have enough or at least average.

Hi everyone, I’ve seen many of these cycle breakdown posts and thought I would share my own, especially since there’s less for Canadian applicants. I applied during the Fall semester of my third year (my first cycle). This cycle was stressful for me as I wrote my DAT in 2024 and my score would expire for a ton of schools if I had not gotten in this cycle, and I really didn't want to retake the test lol. I applied to 6 Canadian schools, with stats as follows:

cGPA of 3.99/4.00

DAT AA 25, PAT 26

3rd quartile Casper

~1800 hours of work 

~800 hours of volunteering experience 

A word of advice is to write your personal statements and essays EARLY. Ask your peers to read them over for you, take the time to reflect on why you truly want to pursue dentistry, and treat feedback as an opportunity to grow. The same goes for interviews; I found that practicing with others really helped ease the nerves before the real deal. During the interview, some interviewers may purposefully try to intimidate you (e.g., frowning or squinting their eyes at you lol), to see if you can remain calm in high-pressure situations. Don’t let that affect your flow!! They’re only there to know you better as a person. The process is definitely draining and stressful, but just try your hardest and remain optimistic 🤗

For the other 2 required Bio courses, I have a few possible courses that I have taken that could fulfill the requirement:

I'm just wondering bc I am debating on if its even worth taking Cell bio, since it may be redundent, if anyone knows pls lmk I would rlly appreciate it :)

I’m seeing a bunch of ppl get interviews and ppl say apply early, but I am still studying for the DAT. I plan to submit my application in a few weeks… like in a week or two (also still working on essays). Am I really at a disadvantage? I’m also taking a class in my SMP rn

To the people who attend USC, or any other school that has some absurd debt tied to it. How? What are your repayment plans like, how much debt are you in, how do you plan to pay off 700k in debt as a new grad? Im currently applying, only to CA schools (I dont want to move), and i want to know if it’s doable. Obviously yes anyone can put their head down work their ass off and pay it off, but how reasonable is it to go under that much debt. Is it worth it at the end of the day? And what if you want to specialize, those interest rates going to absolutely burry you. Just want to know your stories and your plans of repayment.

Sorry I've been posting here a lot, but I shadowed at a dental office for 200 hours, and I ended it today on pretty bad terms. I left because I was being taken advantage of by the clinic and had enough of it.

I'm scared that the clinic might deny my hours when dental schools potentially call/email them to confirm my hours. Should I do something about it, such as printing out an hour confirmation and asking them to sign, or email them and ask for a paper to verify my hours?

recently graduated from undergrad but I need to retake ochem 1 at a cc becuz i got a C- in the lab portion at my university's equivalent ochem. but i was also thinking maybe I should retake Bio 1 as well? becuz at my school i got a C+ which ik is passing for dental school's standards, but doing the math if i could get an A it could help my science gpa up.

Although I have heard that schools will look at that negatively as seeing it as taking it just to boost the gpa up. but is this true? thank you

with the new federal loan limits is it even worth to fill out the disadvantaged consideration? what if more expensive schools reject you just because you don’t come from a particularly wealthy background?

How the hell do I force myself to study for interviews. Besides studying the school and its mission statement and such, how the hell do I prep for interview questions. I’m quite the opposite of the pick me type so I cringe over talking about myself, or I give humble responses but like how do I break from that. How do people talk about themselves for hours. What are some interview questions that threw you off and how did you respond?

When looking at the calculated GPA on my application, which one is just the typical science GPA because I see a lot of different types of gpas listed.
