"I watched him practice during the summer and play -- and I just went, 'Wow. This guy is a lot better than I thought.' It caught me by surprise. He really has the team in the palm of his hand. They all like him, they all know he's really good, and he just has a way about him."

Articles Giant Insider Podcast loses Biz

Many of us on here are avid followers of the Giant Insider podcast with Chris Bisignano and his cohost (editor Jerry Foley). They very quietly just posted a podcast with Sy from our lads instead of Chris and in two sentences said the bank broke up- Chris is done.

Just an FYI for giants nation, Chris was the backbone of that pod, any film analysis or football takes he was the one bringing it, he had the press credentials and was on site for all camp, practices and podium stuff. As a fan, I’m devastated, Chris along with a few guys (Bobby skinner, schmelk, Nick falato) bring this fanbase together with giants specific actual football takes. Think we just suffered a huge content loss. Anyone hearing where he lands please share with the sub, I know many here enjoy Chris.

How ridiculous.... Why is this team paying Slayton and Hyatt? Why did they let Wandale walk? He's a great option for the slot. Slayton has maybe the worst hands in football

Team Updates [Myers] John Harbaugh embraces opening @Giants training camp in West Virginia for a couple of weeks. It's great for team bonding and great for a first-year coach. But it was not his idea. He was told during the interview process in January that because of the massive renovation being done...

Discussion Scheduling quirks, do they matter???

Post image
23 Upvotes

I just wrote this in a recent daily discussion with one of our top posting Giants fans on here, but I decided ti share it with everyone to see what people think about quirks in he schedule..

Do these quirks matter??

IMO, there is one thing that is solidly in the Giants favor is the schedule layout.

We can argue about players and rookies and coaches, but the schedule is the schedule. That does not change.

We had to play the teams on this schedule, but do you believe the layout and order matters???

I think it does (but I am unsure how much).

...I also believe the Giant could not have a better layout. I analyzed it and there are plenty of quirks that go in the Giants favor, and very few, if any go against them.

Here is a quick schedule analysis:

Week 1 vs Dallas. Big home game primetime. No schedule quirk but Giants should be extra motivated to get Harbs a win week 1. This is the Giants biggest game of the year. This is not Dallas's biggest game.

Verdict: no schedule quirk advantage, but Giants have an incentive advantage

Week 2 @LAR: Rams played week 1 overseas vs SF. How much does international travel matter? Potential chance to catch them unfocused?

Verdict: prob a loss regrlardless, but slight schedule quirk in NYs favor.

Week 3, 4, 5, 6: Ten, Was, Ari, NO. Three of those games are home. Can a team ask for a better stretch early on?

Verdict: The NFL did NY Giants a solid there. Very likely they are 3-3 after 6 games. They should build confidence and momentum, which we know is a huge deal. Now back to hard games:

Week 7 @Hou: Houston just played overseas vs division rival Jacksonville.

Verdict: Probable loss, the scheduke quirk helps, but this has upset potential. (I don't think Houston's shaky O-line or Stroud wants anything to do with Burns and Carter).

Week 8: bye 🏖

Week 9: @ Phi: Look at Philly's schedule for the prior 6 weeks: @Chi, LAR, JAX, CAR, DAL, @WAS. That team has to run a gauntlet of good teams early on. They also will be looking forward to a bye directly after the Giants game.

Verdict: Big schedule advantage. A bunch of hard games prior, and then a bye afterwards that the players will be looking forward to. It is very possible Philly does not come out with the energy needed to win that game.

Week 10: vs Was. That should be a win. Was also just finished playing vs Eagles & Rams.

Verdict: probably no hidden schedule advantage, just a basic home game that the Giants should be favored in.

Week 11: vs Jax. While we have back to back home games, Jax is playing their THIRD ROAD GAME in a row!

Verdict: Clear scheduling advantage to NY.

Week 12: @Indy: Well, Indy just played @Hou, and then they have a bye right after us. Could they be limping into their bye week unfocused again?

Verdict: Minimal schedule quirk in NYs favor, but nothing major. Indy could be looking forward to their bye, but this quirk might be enough to cancel out home field advantage at best.

Week 13 vs SF: The 49ers played the Seahawks the prior week, and the Rams right after us. Classic trap game scenario!

Verdict: How important is a trap game? If they are important, this definitely counts.

Week 14 @Seattle: Probably a loss, but we catch Seattle on a short week, they play the prior Monday night vs Dallas. We also get them mid gauntlet of tough opponents. Seattle goes @SF, Dal, NYG, @Phi, LAR.

Verdict: See week 13. Maybe Seattle overlooks NY.... But I doubt it is enough to make a difference.

Week 15: vs Cle (this is our trap game haha).

Verdict: something tells me that if these little quirky things matter, this one might screw us up. The bigger story is Harbaugh vs Monken. This game might be close because of that. Def not putting this in the win column ahead of time. Advantage Cleveland when it comes to weird quirky intangible stuff, but Giants should still win.

Week 16 @Det: We are sandwiched in betwen Detriot playing their NFCN rivals. @Min, NYG, @Chi, @GB.

Verdict: The scheduling intangibles once again work in NYs favor with a classic trap game scenario. Giamts probably lose, but it heightens the chance of an upset.

Week 17 @Dallas: No potential schedule quirk here, but it is now week 17, if this late in the season game have any meaning, the season was already a success.

Week 18: Phi no schedule quirk, but it doesn't matter at this point. If the Giants are playing a meaningful game week 18, we all will be happy.

So two big points:

Giants have a 4 week easy stretch to build momentum.

Then from weeks 7 through 16, every matchup other than home vs Cle and Home vs Wash has a decent scheduling quirk in their favor.

... so can the Giants steal a few games from unfocused or tired teams??

Discussion Which are you looking forward to more this season: the offense, or the defense?

I wanted to create a poll, but it seems like that isn't an option, so I'm curious where fans stand on which side of the ball.

Historically, we are a defense-first franchise and it seems like this year there's a bit to be excited about. Of course, it's been a while since we've had this amount of dynamic offensive players who are poised to take steps forward. Obviously, a lot of this boils down to Harbaugh, Dennard and Nagy, but I'd like to hear from other fans what they think.

Discussion Qb Coach Callahan

Just watched HBO Quarterback episode with Cam Ward and Callahan. Seemed fairly awkward to me and Ward seemed to dislike him. I’m not terribly concerned but did find it interesting.I am simply curious at this point if Dart has developed a positive relationship with him.

Discussion New York Giants All-Time 53-Man Roster

Obviously, the players from today are better athletes than the part-time milkmen of the Halas era, but If I were to create a list based on who would be the best team played today, there would hardly be anyone prior to 2000 on this list. For this reason, to truly appreciate the greats, this list has been created primarily based on dominance over their peers, not who would play better in a game today.

Peak was considered along with longevity, and I tried to consider the right balance of both.

Only a player’s contributions with the Giants are considered. Players are listed with the years they played for the team

Feel free to pick this apart, let me know of any glaring omissions, it can be hard to find every player to research.
