I’m Jaylyn and I’m restarting my baking business after a little break — giving it a nice revamp! I’m looking for a commercial kitchen I can rent in St. Catharines on a flexible basis (hourly or daily to start).

Ideally, I’d love to find a spot where I can build a longer-term relationship and rent regularly as the business grows.

I’m especially hoping for a kitchen that has:

• Commercial-grade stand mixers
• Good ovens
• Plenty of counter space

If you own or know of any restaurants, bakeries, catering companies, or shared/commercial kitchens that offer rental time, I’d really appreciate hearing from you!

I’m a Niagara high-school student building a free initiative called Ambition Labs because I kept noticing how difficult it is to find genuinely useful opportunities for teens around the region compared to areas like Toronto. We’re planning sessions around subjects like financial literacy, careers and building real-world skills. I’m currently trying to find local high-school students who would actually be interested. What would make something like this worth attending?

My kid and friends are going to a concert next week and I’ve seen previous posts about using the GO train out of Burlington. I’m assuming they will be leaving late from the concert and I’m having a hard time with the website. It looks like there is a train at 11:47 and it has a red 2 on it. I can’t figure out what that means. There also seem to be two buses that depart later but there is a spot that says transfers with a direct trip number beside it. Both numbers are different. I have tried to figure this out for an hour and it just doesn’t have a code legend. Can anyone assist me please. I looked at previous posts but they weren’t any help. Thanks in advance!

I’m visiting family here for the second time this year, but don’t have a passport to go across the border since I don’t travel and let it expire. That said, I’ve been ‘dying’ to find more Rockstar Lime Freeze and other American energy drinks.

I can get most of them near home, but haven’t seen Lime Freeze since 2019, and it was my favourite. It was discontinued, but has returned twice in the US. There were rumours it would return here this summer, but I can’t find it and the import stores I go to don’t have it.

Any ideas as to where I can get it?

I’m staying in Ridgeway, but can travel a bit. Just not to the US. Ideally, I’d like to buy cases of it.

This week's question is one we get every summer:

"Why are my tree leaves turning yellow?"

A yellow canopy doesn't always mean your tree is dying.

In fact, some of the most common causes are completely fixable.

The trick is figuring out why it's happening.

Drought stress

After a stretch of hot, dry weather, trees often start showing stress.( Like we currently have, heavy short rainfalls aren't very helpful)

Leaves may:

- Turn yellow

- Curl

- Drop early

Sometimes this is the tree's way of reducing how much water it needs to survive.

Too much water can cause problems too

It sounds backwards, but overwatering can look a lot like underwatering.

Roots need oxygen just as much as they need water.

If the soil stays saturated for too long, the roots can struggle, and the canopy starts showing it.

Nutrient deficiencies

Some trees simply aren't getting the nutrients they need.

Iron deficiency is a common one.

Often you'll notice the leaf turning yellow while the veins stay green.

Different deficiencies create different patterns, which can help point us in the right direction.

Root damage

Sometimes the problem isn't in the canopy at all.

Construction.

Excavation.

Driving over the root zone.

Even changing the soil grade around a tree.

All of these can damage roots, and the canopy often shows the symptoms weeks or even months later

Insects and disease

Not every yellow leaf is caused by drought.

Certain insects and diseases can also cause leaves to discolor.

That's why it's important to look at the whole tree instead of jumping to one conclusion.

Don't panic after seeing a few yellow leaves

Trees naturally shed some older leaves every year.

A handful of yellow leaves is normal.

What concerns us more is when:

- Most of the canopy starts changing colour

- The tree is thinning quickly

- Branches begin dying back

- The problem gets worse instead of better

The reality

Yellow leaves are a symptom.

They're your tree's way of telling you something isn't quite right.

The cause could be as simple as drought stress... or it could be something that needs a closer look.

That's why we always try to diagnose the problem before recommending a solution.

If your tree has yellow leaves, post a photo below.

If you know the species, include that too, along with roughly when you first noticed the colour change.

A photo usually tells us a lot. We'll let you know whether it looks like something to monitor, something to address, or something that's perfectly normal.

I wonder if Big Bees would carry it.

I'm aware of giant crowds that appear in both the Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake, especially in August, but I wasn't sure how to best split an itinerary between weekend(s) and 3 weekdays between these areas, especially as a family of 4.

I'm interested in doing all of the touristy things in the Falls, and willing to get Fallside hotels for at least a couple of nights to see the illumination and fireworks. But I also don't want to be too bogged down by crowds to not enjoy them. So at first glance I think saving all 3 weekdays for Falls makes most sense.

But is Niagara-on-the-Lake still enjoyable during weekends, assuming I'm primarily interested in walking around the neighborhood to see the scenery there? I'm not really as interested in the wineries, so hopefully that bypasses where a lot of crowds might go, but then I trade off the crowds encountered in restaurants instead?

In fact, is it even worth spending 2 weekends in either, or not worth the hassle beyond the first weekend? Or is Niagara-on-the-Lake low-key enough, so that slow paced visits during 2 weekends would offset the major crowds that appear here? I don't think I'm underestimating how bad summer crowds are in Niagara Falls, but if I'm looking at this the wrong way please correct me

My niece is coming to visit me in Buffalo from out of town, and she and a friend are planning a day trip to Toronto.

They're renting a car in Buffalo and were originally thinking of driving all the way into downtown Toronto, but I suggested driving to Burlington and taking the GO Train instead to avoid traffic and the hassle of downtown parking.

A few questions:

• Is Burlington GO the best station, or would you recommend Aldershot or another station?
• How is parking at the GO station on a weekday? Is it easy to find a spot if they arrive around 9–10 a.m.?
• Is parking free for GO riders?
• They'll spend the day in Toronto and head back after dinner (probably around 8–9 p.m.). Any concerns with that plan?

I'd appreciate any tips or suggestions from people who do this regularly. Thanks!
