Hello, this is gonna be a short question:

in the future are there gonna be non invasive procedures to reverse myopia or slow it down like a ton so basically it's like just set to that for your entire life.

Ik right now there are no "natural" ways to reverse it.

But in the future just maybe, just maybe there will be a way?

I want to live long enough for this to actually happen.

Hey everyone! Wanted to just get some feedback if anyone’s been in a similar spot. Had some floaters come on two months ago and occasional flashes and some holes were found.

My retina specialist said that they are tiny with no fluid and encouraged monitoring vs. laser but laser wouldn’t be bad idea. I’m leaning towards laser just to get it out the way since I travel a lot for work, also to rural areas for a decent duration. Im 26. -0.25 in that eye. No trauma or anything, little random tbh!

Just curious to hear anyone’s experience or regrets. Appreciate it a ton!!

So, lately, I’ve been worrying about my eyesight. I’m 15, and I’ve had glasses since I was around 9/10 if I remember. My eyesight has gotten quite bad lately, at a quicker rate, and I’m not sure what the measurements actually are, but it’s pretty bad. I can just barely see what I’m typing when extending my arms at full length. Lately, it’s been hurting my eyes to read stuff on my phone, and gives me this weird feeling in the back of my eyes. My screen time has definitely been around doubled since the summer holidays have began, and it’s reallyy bad. (10hrs average right now, previously about 5hrs average on school days). I don’t have a phone addiction or anything, about 1/4 of the time I spend in my phone is using references to draw. I can tell I’ll probably be pretty much blind by the time I’m like 21, so I was wondering if I could naturally improve my eyesight? For the last few days, I’ve been walking outside without a phone for about 40 minutes, but idk if that actually does anything. Any advice to improve eyesight naturally? ( if that’s even possible )

I have had a Scleral Buckle surgery in my right eye because I was diagnosed with retinal detachment due to a retinal hole which caused vitreous liquid to slip up under the retina and cause it to de-attach. (This was 3 months after I had lasik surgery which corrected my vision in both eyes from -6.75)

It has been 3 months since the Scleral Buckle surgery and all the pain and swelling are gone now.

However, the vision in my right eye is still very bad, I can still see the world wavy due to the vitreous liquid. In low light, it is technically blind because I see 70% darkness and can't distinguish anything. I can see so many flashes of light all the time.

I have seen my doctor 3-4 times after the surgery and he said everything is going great.

Any advices on what I should do?

I’m trying to make a final decision before cataract surgery and would really appreciate opinions from people who have been in a similar situation or from eye professionals.
I’m 45 years old and have a very dense cataract in my left eye. My right eye already had cataract surgery a few years ago and has a monofocal lens.
My current vision with the right eye:
Distance is good.
Computer/intermediate vision is good.
I need reading glasses for small print.
The surgeon is recommending an Alcon Vivity EDOF lens in my left eye with mild mini-monovision to improve near vision.
They told me that if they target more near vision, my distance vision in the left eye won’t be as sharp as my right eye.
My priorities are:
If possible, I’d love to read at about 16 inches without glasses.
If that’s unrealistic, then I want the best overall vision with the least dependence on glasses.
Here’s what worries me:
I’m a locksmith. My job often requires reading tiny instructions, tiny serial numbers, looking at lock pins and wafers, and reading ingredient labels or medication bottles. These are much more demanding than just reading a restaurant menu or using a phone.
From everything I’ve researched, it sounds like even with Vivity mini-monovision I will probably still need reading glasses for those tasks.
If that’s true, I’m wondering whether I’m giving up some distance sharpness without actually eliminating my need for readers.
So I’m trying to decide between:
Option 1:
Vivity with mild mini-monovision, hoping to reduce my dependence on glasses for everyday activities while accepting that I may still need readers for fine work.
Option 2:
Target the left eye for distance to better match my right eye, accept that I’ll need readers for close work, but maximize binocular distance vision.
For those with a similar setup (one monofocal eye and one Vivity), I’d really appreciate hearing:
Do you still need readers for tiny print?
Can you read nutrition labels or medication bottles without glasses?
Can you do precision work?
If you had to do it again, would you still choose Vivity, or would you target distance instead?
I’m looking for honest real-world experiences more than optimistic expectations.

I got myopia and I really want improve my vision my degree is currently -2.00 on both eyes but it improved to -1.75 after hopping on fishing as my hobby but I feel like it got worse after I stopped any advice?

{ What i figured = after reading books about improving eyesight is , making these things a habit is the ultimate way to improve eyesight cause its not possible to always do this consiously , so making them habit one thing at a time is the way to go

- For myoia
Breathing is most important : always breath from belly and dont do sallow breathing ,
Relax : always relax when you feel something relax , relax is the way to go ,
Palming : palm to relax ,
Stop staring
try to look at distance time to time
swing , sway ,
Stop tunnel vision and looking at one place for long time
Make sure your eyes moves and dosent stays rigid : having eyees move is the way to rest , eyes rest by moving not by staying still .
Walk : take a walk stay outdoor just for a while , i figured when walking always walk and dont stare on ground have a imaginary ring like a saturn around your arms length where you wont see try to see beyond that so you dont stare near while walking , it helps when you are outdoor to use Peripheral vision

I'm 21 and currently am at -6.5 in my left eye and -9 in my right eye. My right eye was stable for a decade after getting special contacts, before going up from -8 to -9 this year (boo). I'm pretty worried about my myopia continuing to progress because my mom and most of her relatives have worse myopia than I do (highest specific number I'm aware of is an uncle with -13).

From when I first started to wear glasses, my mom has always told me that if I let my myopia get worse, eventually I'll go blind. I now know that you can't go blind from myopia alone, but you have to understand that 4-year-old me had no reason not to believe her, and its had the effect where although I know it's not true, I still believe it on some level lol.

Recently my mom and I were chatting and I told her that myopia doesn't causing blindness directly. She said that what she meant was that once myopia reaches some level of severity, glasses or lenses can't fully correct vision back to 20/20. Is this true? I would be very upset if my eyes worsened to the point where I couldn't read, because my passion is reading academic texts on history and these are not available in audiobook format. I would really appreciate hearing from people with severe myopia who read or used to read a lot and how/whether their myopia has affected this at all.

My 11 y/o is complaining of severe eye strain & discomfort during day 1 of wearing these new lenses. Optometrist advised of a 7-10 day adjustment period during which his eyes may seem more tired and his vision may be slightly blurry. He has only been wearing them for a few hours and is experiencing what seems to be symptoms on the more severe end of the spectrum. Anyone have a similar experience with these lenses? Any suggestions to help ease discomfort?

I normally have a medium myopic prescription of -5.25 and -5 D in both eyes with -05 cyl astogmatism. My sister who is just 3 years younger to me never wore glasses and now at age of 39 has been given a Rx of -5 and -5 in both eyes and she still goes around her day in supermarkets wearing her glasses at the top of her head and able to squint and see stuff like finding stuff. I cant even see anything when I try. I am a bit confused as to how a similar prescription can cause such a difference? Is it because she got glasses just 3 months ago and her eyes are still used to her old way of blurred vision, which she is used to? making her manage stuff? She does drive with them on as she finds that they sharpen her vision. But at her 1 bed apartment which is small she doesn't wear them at all, so as soon as she comes home, the glasses are off and she can manage everything by some kind of visial memory she says. Sometime she has to wear them just to find stuff and for TV she says it sharpens the picture. Has anyone experienced this where people with mild myopic prescriptions get away most of the time without glasses? I remeber when I was -2.00 the optician told me to wear them full time.

I think i have chronic pseudomyopia i had a test done last year and i've been havinf numerous not myopia-like visual situations,i just wanna know if anyone who had pseudomyopia or thinks they have it if sometimes their vision increases variably and most importantly spontaneously especially outside or when zoned out,sometimes it increases a lot sometimes it's just a simple upgrade and sometiems it's also accompanied with some stinging in either eye,and a blink can wipe off that temporary upgrade or sometimes it cuts it in half,does anyone else get these clarity boosts???

Hey everyone, looking for some insight on myopia management for my 8yo son. His vision has been progressing pretty rapidly. We saw an ophthalmologist last year who basically told us nothing could be done, we were not aware of Essilor, atropine etc treatment, then spoke with optometrist in Canada and found out about the Stellest and got it prescribed, we are from the USA and this is out of network

We ended up getting him Essilor Stellest lenses while in Canada for about $450 CAD (roughly $320 USD) completely out of pocket.

I have a few questions:
Is the out-of-pocket price for Stellest usually the same in the US?

I have VSP Choice insurance—I've heard they barely cover these lenses at all. Has anyone had luck getting them to pay for any of it?

He was prescribed Stellest 2.0, but I keep seeing Hoya MiYOSMART mentioned online too. Is there any real difference in how well they actually work to slow down progression?

Appreciate any advice or experiences you can share!

• Diagnosed with lattice degeneration in May 2025

- I was told they were just going to monitor it. I go back May 2026 and my right eye progressed and was at the earliest stages of a detachment. I had laser surgery to fix it as well as in my left eye as a preventative measure

• Floaters since May 2024

My dilemma: About 2 years ago I noticed that In the very corner of my peripheral vision I have this black kinda opaque spot. I see it when I turn my eyes all the way to the side and don't see it when I'm looking straight on. It's been there for 2 years all the time but it does not move. I feel like it is slightly bigger than it originally was but that could also be my anxiety thinking that I'm not really sure.

I have had numerous dilated eye exams and OCT scans for my Retina. All of my doctors kinda wave it off when I bring it up as they are more concerned about the lattice.

- Optometrist: said it could be pigment in my eye (like a freckle) || but it's in the same place on the other side so how do I have a freckle in the exact same place?

- Opthalmologist and Retina specialist: said it was probably just a floater. But I have floaters and this does not move ever. It also feels darker than my other floaters

Note: it has been here for 2 years in the same place. Relatively unchanged.

Here's an image kinda how I see out of my peripheral. I have no idea what this could be and it causes me immense anxiety.

Does anyone else have this? Any ideas to calm my anxiety? If it was something serious, my doctors definitely would've caught it in my exams and scans, right?

I'm 22 years old, with high myopia of spherical around -15 and -15.50 ( Right and left respectively) and both eye cylindrical -5.50... I've taken opinion from 3-4 various docs, they're suggesting clear lens extraction rather than icl or ipcl .. even though my chamber is suitable and healthy retina, they're suggesting CLE for prevention of future cataract... I'm planning for surgery, I've vision of 6/36 and I use contact lens so correct vision is 6/24... Sometimes contacts axis moves causing little distortion etc .. how much vision will i get after surgery whats chance.. and yeah how it will differ from contacts? Will i be able to read small letters from books and boards in college etc ? Help me y'all

Hi, I had LASIK at TLC Center 4 days ago. Everything looks fine, but the only side effect I have is my right eye seeing rainbow glare when I stare at a light bulb, and both eyes seeing halos. Is this temporary?

I have high myopia, lattice degeneration, and previous barrage laser. My retina specialist dilated my eyes and examined them only at the slit lamp while asking me to look up, down, left, and right. He did not use an indirect ophthalmoscope (head-mounted light) or any handheld lens that I noticed. He said I have lattice degeneration but don’t need laser. Is a dilated slit-lamp examination alone enough to thoroughly examine the peripheral retina, or should indirect ophthalmoscopy also be done in cases like mine?

I'm a student trying to become a doctor so I have high screen time for studying and watching videos and reading books. I do try to read books outside and do cardio and I wear contacts. Other than that, I'm scared because I read an article that screen time directly correlates with myopia progression but I'll need to have high screen time inevitably. What to do? my optometrist couldn’t correct my vision to 20/20. It’s not too bad but i struggle to read the 20/20 line. i had ALL of the scans/tests done and she can’t figure it out. My eyes are also slow at focusing for my age snd I have BVD too apparently. What could this be?

My Optometrist asked me if I have a connective tissue disorder and yes, my doctors suspect I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The optometrist is trying to find a specialist in this condition.

I tested my blood sugar just incase i somehow have diabetes but it was normal.

hi everyone! im a 26yo w pretty bad eyesight (-6.5 and -2 astigmatism in one eye and -4.25 + -1.75 astigmatism in the other). the good thing is my vision has been pretty stable for the past 2-3yrs and I’ve been getting eye exams w dilation for those years too.

however, last yr I was diagnosed w lattice degeneration in both eyes and a small retinal hole in one eye. both eyes were lasered out of caution. I never experienced floaters or any vison changes before or after the treatment.

but knowing I have a weak retina in both eyes and could develop more retinal holes throughout my life really scares me. the anxiety has been a bit tough to deal with.

any expert opinions or personal experiences would b greatly appreciated!
