What is the judge call if a player breaks a "Can't" ruling and the game has progressed in some sort of way before its brought up?

Lets say we're playing commander.

Player A has a [[grafdigger's cage]] out on turn 1 and the game has progressed for like 6 turns

Player B then breaks (unknowingly or not) the ruling of Grafdiggers by casting [[reanimate]] on a creature

It is not sure if Player A knows the stax rule has been broken, but a turn after, Player B tries to win the game and Player A then reminds that said game winning creature should not be in play due to the Grafdiggers

What would a judge rule in this situation?

Am I wrong

Upvotes

So I was playing [[Zurgo Stormrender]] and I had 6 creature tokens on the battlefield and somebody played destroy each creature and I said okay I ping all of y'all for 6 and they said no because Zurgo leaves at the same time and we argued for like 15-20 minutes before I said whatever this is stupid and I lost the game and my opponents were at 2 and 3 so was I wrong and the triggered ability doesn't deal damage to them or should I have won that game.

What happens when I make a treasure from Magda, the Hoardmaster while Xorn is there and Mirrormind Crown is equipped on a creature ?

Upvotes

Xorn, Magda and Mirrormind Crown

They both are replacement effects, so what do I do ? Are layers involved ?

If the Mirror is equipped onto a Dragon token from Magda, my guess is that I make two tapped Dragons while committing a crime.

Also, what happens when Xorn itself is equipped with Mirrormind Crown ?

I have one Xorn equipped with Mirror, crime happens, I now have 1 + 2 Xorns tokens.
I now have 3 Xorns on board, crime happens, I make 4 Xorns ?
I now have 7 Xorns on board, crime happens, I make 8 Xorns ?

Scientist Supreme, Gilded Drake & Liquimetal Torque Query

If I cast [[gilded drake]] and it enters, putting it's ETB onto the stack, then I make gilded drake into an artifact using [[liquimetal Torque]], can I now copy the ability using [[scientist Supreme of a.i.m.]]?

Relevant rules appear to be 608.2h and 113.7a but me and my playgroup are split on the answer.

Paying teamwork costs that result in an illegal effect

Upvotes

Namely thinking about [[Agent Maria Hill]] and [[Murdochs Crusade]] / [[Go nuts]]

My understanding of casting spells is to declare targets then determine and pay costs. So you would then be able to tap Mariah (assuming she’s pumped etc) to pay the additional cost which would then make the spell illegal as you would have to choose both modes, I can see how 601.2c ties into this

My question mainly stems from judges tower ‘may=must’ and I’m just try to work out what stops you declaring the targets as if you haven’t paid the teamwork and then using teamwork anyway?

Cheers

Replicate and reduced cost?

I have hatchery Sliver on the field.

I reduce the casting cost of the creature. Is the replicate cost the original manna cost or is it reduced?

Power Pack + DualCards

Hi,

if I ve hit someone with [[Power Pack]], and have Shock and [[Hustle / Bustle]] in my grave.

How d their effect play out? Is hustle/Bustle one card and if I hit it I can cast either? Or are there basically 3 cards in my grave now that the random effect could hit? And a card with fuse, how d that behave, could I cast both?

THX

P.S. If I hit [[Demand Answers]], I d still have to discard, right?

The Legend of Yangchen

After the saga transforms, she becomes a creature with no mana cost. If I were to airbend Avatar Yanchen, would she become exiled permanently? Would I be able to pay the 2, and if so would she return as the saga or as the creature?

Did Jandor's Ring ever get fixed?

Upvotes

[[Jandor's Ring]]

The card wants you to discard the last card you drew, After drawing, you can just shuffle your hand and lie, discarding another card instead. It's a terrible card, but I still think it's funny.

Boss’s Chauffeur, Copies, and ETB triggers

Just trying to make sure I played this sequence out correctly… I was playing my Zinnia pre-con, with [[Agate Instigator]] and its offspring copy on the board. I cast [[Boss’s Chauffeur]] and paid the 2 to cast an offspring 1/1 token copy of it. Both entered with +7/+7 based on the number of creatures on the board / both entering simultaneously. My opponent cast a spell to destroy all creatures with power greater than target creature’s power (2). My Agate Instigators remain, but it kills the Boss’s Chauffeur and its token copy, which results in the trigger to create a 1/1 green citizen token for each +1/+1 counter on Boss’s Chauffeur. I create 14 1/1 tokens, and this triggers agate instigator to deal 1 damage to my opponent for each creature entering… but I have two, so it doubles to deal 28 damage to my opponent. Effectively it would also result in Zinnia getting an additional +14/+0, but the damage dealt was enough to kill my opponent lol.

My question is making sure that the token creation does in fact count as a creature ETB to properly trigger the agate instigator? Only been playing commander casually for a few months and slowly getting better and playing this deck in particular!

Muddle, the Ever-Changing interaction with Coercive Recruiter

Hello! I am building a [[Muddle, the Ever-Changing]] deck and found someone that says if I use Muddle to copy [[Coercive Recruiter]] then I get 12 steal triggers as the myriad tokens enter. Is that correct?

Norman Osborn // Green Goblin Deck - Madness and Mayhem interaction

Hey guys and ladies,

I am brewing on my new Norman Osborn // Green Goblin and came across a tricky question that was not answered in other threads in a clear final manner for me, hope someone smarter than me can help :-)

Green Goblin is on the BF, I discard a card with madness (to whatever outlet), there are two options:

1) I discard it into exile and cast it from exile for its madness cost: it resolves (or gets countered) and lands in the graveyard as a new entity of the card and does not count as a discarded card in the graveyard and does not get Mayhem from Green Goblins ability. It counts as a discard for discard triggers/discard costs though. Correct?

2) I discard it into exile and do NOT cast it, it is being put into my graveyard from exile. Here I am not sure if 2a) it counts as discarded in the graveyard and gains Mayhem from Green Goblin or 2b) it does NOT count as discarded in the graveyard as it changed zones and still is a new entity of that card that was NOT discarded this turn. In any case, it counts as a discard for discard triggers/discard costs though. Correct?

In other threads I read complicated rules overlapping here, that’s why I want to make sure I play it correctly.

please feel free to point out other possible mistakes/problems I might have forgotten to think through here.

Thanks a lot in advance!

What Happens First / Who Won this Game?

My opponent had an [[Eshki, Temur's Roar]] with a bunch of counters on it and then cast [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]].

My life total was low enough that the Eshki ability was going to kill me.

In response to the Ghalta cast, I activated my [[Altar of Dementia]] with a bunch of big creatures I had laying around to mill his entire library.

We were the last two players left. The draw from Eshki would have killed him and the damage from Eshki would've killed me at the same time.

The table (and table over from us agreed too) that I would've won due to my opponent not having cards to draw since it happens first in the text box. Should I have won? Should it have been a draw? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Raph & Leo, Sibling Rivals. I cannot find an answer to this question anywhere :/

If Raph and Leo are blocked and die during the first combat, does the ability still happen??

"Whenever Raph & Leo attack, if it's the first combat phase of the turn, untap one or two target attacking creatures. After this phase, there is an additional combat phase"

I play this in my Kaalia of the Vast deck in an attempt to get another creature onto the battlefield, but when Raph and Leo die during combat, the table is always split on whether this works. Searching online also results in decisive opinions, if anyone could help me find the correct answer to this I would really appreciate it :)

Animation of Weeping Angel

[[Weeping Angel]] states that when an opponent casts a creature spell, it stops being a creature. Very straight forward and in-character.

I now wish to animate Weeping Angel so it never stops being a creature. There are varies cards to do this with but for the sake of the example let's say I'm trying to animate it with [[Ensoul Artifact]].

Ensoul Artifact is an enchantment that can be enchanted onto an artifact. I thereby logically enchant the Weeping Angel. My opponent now casts a creature spell. Does the Weeping Angel at any point stop being a creature? Or is it always a creature because the enchantment dictates it so?

(Bit of side info, I'm trying to create a deck that makes lots and lots and lots of Weeping Angels).

My reason for asking is that I intend to put some enchantments on my Weeping Angel, but almost all enchantments that can create copies of the creature it is enchanted onto, all contain "enchant creature". I am trying to find a way of my Weeping Angel never not being a creature.

My expected outcome is that yes, Weeping Angel never stops being a creature, as the enchantment on it is continuously dictating it so rather than it being a single state change.

The same would be true if I had [[March of the Machines]] on the field expectedly.

Kindly point it out, and why, should it not be the case :)

Update: For anyone wondering as to the janky ass mess that I've made of my deck, here it is.

Ant Man

If I have Ant Man Elusive Avenger in play as well as Vesuvan Duplimancy in play. And after the attack but before damage I cast Titan strength. I create a copy of Ant man. 4 damage resolves. Do I make 4 treasures or do I make 8. Ant man says when Ant man deals Damage. and it’s non legendary so both would be on the battle field. I feel like it’s no but I’m hoping it’s 8 :)

Karn, Silver Golem and Alicia Masters, Skilled Sculptor interaction

In a scenario where an opponent controls an artifact I own, for example, [[Bucknard's Everfull Purse]]. If I turn it into a creature with [[Karn, Silver Golem]] will [[Alicia Masters, Skilled Sculptor]] return it to the battlefield under my control at the end of my turn before it stops being a creature again?

Chains of Mephistopheles + Dr Doom + multiple card draw. How many discard triggers?

Let's say that I have [[Chains of Mephistopheles]] on the field, along [[Doctor Doom, King of Latveria]]. And then I play something like [[Faithless looting]].

Chains of Mephistopheles reads: "If a player would draw a card except the first one they draw in each of their draw steps, that player discards a card instead. If the player discards a card this way, they draw a card". So when I play Faithless Looting I should read it "Discard two cards, then draw two cards, then discard two cards.

I understand that the last two discards are "one or more cards discarded" so Doctor Doom will only trigger once if I discard two lands. But what abour the first two discards? Since they are a replacement effect caused by Chains of Mephistopheles, should I treat them as two different discard triggers since they are replacing a 2 card draw, taking into account that multiple card draw in this game is considered to be different instances of drawing 1 card?

In other words, if I discard two lands with the first "discard 2 cards" caused by Chains of Mephistopheles will I trigger Doctor Doom twice?

Homeward Path & Tergrid

Out of curiosity does the Homeward Path counteract Tergrid?

I have a buddy who has an utterly filthy Xyris deck. I'm just curious. I can't seem to find an article or ruling on this.

EDIT: Thanks for the quick responses while I was in the shower.

Attack triggers that cast sorceries from GY

Am I right in thinking that an attack trigger that lets me cast a sorcery from the graveyard ACTUALLY casts the sorcery at instant speed - as in being able to put it on the stack as if it was an instant and respond to my own cast trigger?

For example [[Dawning Archaic]] attacks and I cast [[Will of the Sultai]] from the grave to give him X +1 counters? In this example I did't respond to the trigger but you get what I mean.

Do damage triggers fizzle if the damaged player dies?

Basically, I had Edric, Spymaster of trest (Whenever a creature deals combat damage to one of your opponents, its controller may draw a card) on the battlefield. One player attacked another, killing them and supposedly triggering my ability, right?

Well, according to the dead player, since they're no longer in the game, my ability has nothing to trigger off of.

Is this true?
