New Rules in Place
Hey all. If you haven't noticed there has been a huge spike in NSFW content making its way into the sub. I have no interest in that here and there is another sub dedicated to NSFW Minot content.
With that I am working on adding some new AutoMod rules and as I add them I will update this post with what has been done.
The first one added requires you to have a verified email or phone number with Reddit in order to post here. I hope this doesn't place an undue burden on people who want to participate but I think this is a good first step. If you have any comments or suggestions I am happy to listen.
Thanks

Random Looking for a roommate in Minot! (M24)
Hey everyone, I’m moving to Minot this August for grad school (starting an EdS program at Minot State) and coaching track and field there too. Looking for someone laid back to split a place with, ideally around move-in time.
Quick heads up, I’ve got two cats, so you’d need to be okay with that. I’m pretty easygoing and tidy, keep normal hours between classes and coaching.
Hit me up if you’re interested or know someone who might be.
Thanks!

Planning To Drive From Saskatoon to Minot Next Weekend. Why are Motel/Hotel SO Expensive?
I live in Saskatoon and planned to drive to Estevan then Minot because the city is close to the border.
But looking at the prices of motel/hotel, It seems like I'm better off driving to Bismarck because it's cheaper.
What's up with the prices in Minot, am I missing something? Can someone explain?

Question First-Time State Fair Goers
Hey all!
We’ll be visiting Minot for the State Fair but mainly for one of the grandstand shows.
Just wanted to ask since we’ve never been, how early should we lineup if we’re looking to get front row for the grandstand show?
We also couldn’t check in at our hotel until 2PM/3PM (they wouldn’t let us purchase early check in) and plan on heading to the grounds immediately after we check in. Would 2:30-3:30 be too late of an arrival for a parking spot? Any suggestions/tips on how you guys deal with the parking situation?

Question Thinking of Relocating
I'm currently going to college in Missoula, and I'm a retired veteran. My husband and I were thinking of relocating to Minot after I have my degree (be about 4 years, but we like being able to plan ahead now that I'm out of the Navy). What's it like living there? What are the schools like? Our kids will be in high school and Jr. high by then. What are your favorite restaurants?

Question How in your face is the military presence in Minot with the Air Force Base?
As a regular citizen, how bad is it? Are there a lot of people in uniforms in businesses? Military vehicles on the roads? Are the locals super patriotic?

Moving to Minot, ND with my partner + 2 dogs — what’s it really like?
My partner and I (plus our two dogs) are planning to move to Minot, North Dakota, and I’m trying to get a real feel for the area. Our main reasons are:
- It has a very low crime rate out of all the cities
- We actually want a place that gets snow
- It’s cheaper than where we live now
For locals or anyone who’s lived there:
• What’s the overall vibe
• Is it fun or more quiet
• How intense are the winters
• And how dog‑friendly is the area
Any insight helps!
Side note think Bismarck is better option any input ?!?!?

Apartments
Hey all, moving to town this August. I'm looking for a clean, safe apartment complex with good amenities and heated indoor parking. No specific budget constraints. Would love to hear your recommendations or places to avoid. Thanks!
