I guess you won't be "working from home" then. Just happens to stay home during work hours.

"Im unemployed my dad sends me money for rent"

u/JeebusChristBalls 1h ago

I don't think telling a landlord you are unemployed is going to get you an apartment.

"Independently wealthy"

u/skyware 1m ago

Wealth tax, +400/mo

-5

u/JeebusChristBalls 1h ago

Then you would have proof of funds... and you probably wouldn't be renting.

u/esem86 1h ago

This is....so wrong lol. Just because people can afford to settle down and own doesn't mean it makes sense for them.

Tons of working professionals rent bc they are constantly on the move. Your worldviews are really really wrong my guy.

u/Local9396 39m ago

I love that this is the new talking point now that home ownership is dying

u/South-Bass-9536 37m ago

Or some people just want to rent. Not everyone wants to deal with a house.

u/JeebusChristBalls 55m ago

Working professionals does not equal independently wealthy. Independently weathy was the excuse for not having a job or being home during the day in the thread that you responded to me in. Working professionals are not unemployed by definition and if they were independently wealthy, why would they be working professionals? But thanks for the "akshooaly" reply.

u/-Cthaeh 39m ago

If i was 'independently wealthy' I wouldn't mind living in SF for a year or two. Its good to travel.

If you have proof of funds, it should be fine honestly.

Incredibly out of touch comment. Anyone who has navigated the hell scape of apartment hunting in the modern era knows how fucked it is.

24

u/mystyle__tg 1h ago

People get co-signers all the time?

u/Billy_Da_Frog 9m ago

I recently got my first apartment. It was so easy and smooth. What is the hell scape you’re experiencing?

Stick to topics you know about, like your fancy cheeses and tiki bars.

9

u/Outrageous_Sleep4339 1h ago

And you stick to getting mad about people talking about lease requirements on the internet...

u/NanoscaleHeadache 54m ago

Oooh he’s obsessed with you! Enough to stalk your profile lmao

u/buttchuck 17m ago

Genuinely, why would you speak confidently on a topic you don't know about? What's the logic behind it?

u/Outrageous_Sleep4339 13m ago

What don't I know about? I've used proof of assets to get leases before. It's not really that weird.

If your daddy is paying your rent, you likely don't have proof of funds or else you wouldn't need your parents to pay your rent. If you want to use your daddy for tent, they are likely going to want them on the lease somehow.

u/violetslush 1h ago

it’s called co-signing

-3

u/JeebusChristBalls 1h ago

Yes, that is one option.

3

u/Single-Hovercraft-33 1h ago

I've never needed a guarantor, but I've been one for others. It's common.

3

u/esem86 1h ago

Called a co-signer. Still fairly common. Do people not know this exists or something?

1

u/JeebusChristBalls 1h ago

Yes, I know what a co-sign is. That is a way or just being on the lease is another.

4

u/facw00 1h ago

I rented my current apartment while unemployed, and was open about that. Wasn't a problem, they didn't even make me have a cosigner. I did show them proof of assets, and they were happy with that.

u/FantasyFI 54m ago

You don't tell them until after you sign the lease!

u/oldsecondhand 33m ago

"passive income"

u/peelen 18m ago

Yeah, but "my dad sends me money every month" should fix the problem.

11

u/ConflictWaste411 1h ago

If only proof of income was a part of the rent process

11

u/Kind-Apricot22 1h ago

People get apartments all the time while being unemployed.

-2

u/ConflictWaste411 1h ago

Not an apartment complex with the luxury of charging $75 for an application fee

u/Kind-Apricot22 59m ago

You absolutely can. My apartment that I just moved out of charged an app fee and I was not employed for the majority of my time living there.

u/ConflictWaste411 33m ago

Unemployed while there ≠ unemployed during application. The fact that you didn’t just say that implies that you were being intentionally deceptive and now when you say “well ahckshually I was unemployed then too” we will all know you’re lying because you would have just said that initially.

u/Kind-Apricot22 24m ago

I was unemployed while applying. But sure go off, I know I was

u/ConflictWaste411 19m ago

lol, lmao even

u/Kind-Apricot22 11m ago

“Ah hah, I have said the most probable reason why you would be correct before you so therefore it can’t be true!” Dude get over yourself.

u/FantasyFI 53m ago

Shoot...got fired one day after signing the lease! Who would have thought it! Mmk I am going to go back into my apartment and "play a game on my computer" wink.

u/ConflictWaste411 41m ago

Alright cool, they’ll just charge your account and take it off the security deposit

u/FantasyFI 36m ago

Based off of what? What evidence do they have that you are working? Living in an apartment 8-5 doesn't constitute proof of working.

This image is unenforceable is my only point. It's an honor system where you choose to be over charged.

1

u/One-Cardiologist4780 1h ago

Then they would have your dad co-sign.

u/Jaggs0 25m ago

i just like to put my headphones on, stare at a computer screen, and use random office buzz words from time to time.

u/justafang 19m ago

Or, I work nights

u/SEAtoPAR 14m ago

"Hi, my name is George, I'm unemployed and live with my parents." -Costanza

24

u/Efficient-Train2430 1h ago

"night shift"

u/WolfDaddy48 25m ago

Only the poors would work night shift. There's definitly no night time jobs that can actually pay the bills. /s

16

u/JeebusChristBalls 1h ago

"I work nights and that's why I'm always home during the day"

-1

u/micktorious this is black if you are color blind 1h ago

And at night I work remotely?

This is as dumb as the NDA gigantic brain memes.

u/BirdlessLongdeal 44m ago

"i work odd hours"

u/Regular_Government94 41m ago

My neighbors probably think I'm unemployed because of the way I dress when I sit in my backyard during work breaks. I could fool this landlord haha

u/Budderfingerbandit 36m ago

Just get a lot of PTO. Really incredible amounts.

u/yrogerg123 35m ago

So..."working from home" then
