The best investment I ever made wasnt in a business It was in people

Over the last few weeks Ive jumped on Discord calls with strangers from all over the world.

Some wanted to start their first business.
Some wanted their first job.
Some already had businesses and just needed someone to challenge their thinking.

Something surprised me.

Almost nobody needed some secret strategy.

Most people already knew what they had to do.

They just needed someone to tell them the truth hold them accountable and remind them not to quit when things got hard.

Twenty years ago I wish I had someone like that.

Someone who could save me from a few expensive mistakes.

Now I get to be that person for someone else.

Its a funny feeling because Ive learnt just as much from my mentees as theyve learnt from me.

If youre a few steps ahead dont underestimate how much value you can add to someone thats just starting.

Sometimes a 30 minute conversation can save someone six months of going in the wrong direction.

Looking to connect with someone who can help me get into coding & automation testing

Upvotes

I'm currently working as a Manual Tester with around 4 years of experience, and I've reached a point where I really want to grow my career by learning coding and Automation Testing.

The only problem is... I have almost zero coding knowledge.

Every time I try to start, I get overwhelmed by Java, Python, Selenium, Git, APIs, SQL, Playwright, CI/CD... and I end up not knowing what to focus on first.

I'm based in Chennai, and I'm hoping to connect with someone—whether you're a developer, automation tester, SDET, or anyone experienced in coding—who wouldn't mind guiding me in the right direction.

I'm not expecting anyone to teach me everything or spend hours every day. I'd just love to have someone I can learn from, ask doubts occasionally, stay accountable with, or even become friends with while learning. If you're also in Chennai and interested, we could even study together whenever our schedules match.

I'm a sincere learner, willing to put in the effort and practice consistently. I just believe that having the right person to guide or encourage me can make a huge difference.

If you've ever helped someone learn, or you've been in my shoes before, I'd genuinely love to hear from you.

Feel free to comment or send me a DM. I'd be happy to connect.

Thank you! 😊

Offering Exploring Mentorship

Edit: I am a 29 year old male

Hello all,

My recent studies have reignited my interest in mentorship. Though I don’t think I’m entirely qualified for such a lofty title as “mentor,” I do believe I can provide significant value within the scope of my abilities.

To ensure I provide the highest quality experience, and due to my limited time, I’m only interested in accepting one person for mentorship.

My background:

  1. Extensively credentialed personal trainer.
  2. Retired Emergency Medical Technician, Field Training Officer
  3. Software Developer / Entrepreneur

Specific certifications, references, testimonials are available upon request.

My time on the ambulance taught me many great life skills, and introduced me to mentorship/leadership opportunities by virtue of my field training responsibilities. Further augmented by my relationships with long-standing personal training clients and entrepreneurial endeavors, my skill set is both broad enough to provide general utility, and specific enough for occasional novelty.

My strengths, and the skills I believe I have to offer as a mentor, include: study skills, communication, leadership, and domain specific knowledge.

One of my personal heroes is Cus D’Amato, Mike Tyson’s coach, mentor, and adoptive father.

If any of this resonates with you, please leave a comment, or DM me directly. Let me know if you have any heroes. I look forward to meeting you.

Looking for a mentor who could actually guide me in career and business

I'm working in a fading field, I'm in my late 20s.. I'm in a hurry to learn.. With the help of AI I even built a simple extension in chrome and made a website too for a friend.. Like, I don't really know, but I have a visualizations of a bigger firm like SaaS enterprise or something, but don't know coding or anything.. also I have so many ideas in mind, but for now I just have to focus on this career transition thing which is closing up on me since this work is going to fade in few months.

Could someone please guide me. I'm from TN, India basically.

filmmaker/writer transitioning into sales, need guidance ASAP

Hey everyone,

I'm in a tight spot financially. I can't cover rent this month, and I'm hoping to find a mentor who can help me navigate a career pivot while I stabilize things.

A bit about me: I'm a writer-director and entrepreneur with a solid track record across creative and business ventures. I previously founded and ran an influencer marketing company, so I've got real experience on the business side too, sourcing deals, managing client relationships, and running a company day to day. On the creative side, I've raised financing for a TV pilot, written 8+ screenplays, and completed a full 8-episode TV series. I'm also in the final stretch of my first novel. So I know how to execute long-form projects, build things from scratch, and get them across the finish line. Skills that don't always show up neatly on a resume, but that I think matter a lot in practice: persuasion, pitching, closing collaborators and clients, managing ambiguity, and sticking with something difficult until it's done.

Right now I'm trying to pivot into something more immediately viable, specifically SDR/BDR type sales roles, as a way to build stable income while I keep my creative work going on the side. I've been doing the prep (LinkedIn, cold outreach, practicing pitch frameworks) but I'm looking for someone who's actually worked in sales or made a similar career transition who can give me real guidance: how to position my background, what companies are actually looking for, how to shortcut the learning curve, or just brutal honesty about what I'm missing.

Not looking for handouts, just direction from someone who's been there. Happy to share more specifics in DMs.

Thanks for reading.

Seeking 25F - I need to exponentially grow

Hi

25F, UK

I am in need of a mentor, I feel as though I have reached a block in life that I can’t cross over.

I would like to say that I am doing well for myself thankfully and I have aspirations to continue growing, probably quicker than what is realistic. Despite this I have some pull backs which are easier said than done to eliminate or keep at bay.

I need to do better on a financial level and spiritual level. I’m not looking for basic advice like get a better job, do something for yourself blah blah. Not to sound difficult but that is not what I need. I need the truth about what I absolutely have to do to make it where I want to be to live comfortably. To a point where I don’t have to worry anymore.

I value my privacy and I am not looking for pointless conversations, please don’t dm me for this thank you.

Other than that, happy to hear any guidance or advice :)

Thank you all 🫶🏼

Seeking I need mentorship

This is for the first time in my life. I have no excitement towards this future. I have no motivation. I have no idea what I’m doing. I am completely lost. I have always been a very enthusiastic excited kid who is full of life who has so much ambition and drive in them to achieve the biggest of goals. During my grade 10 holidays, I wanted a MacBook since I don’t come from a very affluent family. My parents told me that is not something they are willing to provide for me so I decided to start a business during Covid and made 1 lakh rupees in the next two months and bought my MacBook myself. While in college, I did four internships worked after college, helped my father with his business did all that then landed an internship in Zerodha. I remember one year ago. I was full of life full of excitement full of drive to achieve my goals. Today, I have no goals. I have no purpose. I have no motivation. There’s nothing driving me. I feel like a person who is rusting away as of today, I don’t have a job. I had a sweet girlfriend. I broke up with her, even though she tried to stop me multiple times, I broke up with her. I’m not sure what I want in life. I don’t know where everything went wrong. I want changes, but I’m not sure what kind of changes I need to get myself back. I have a lot of ambition, but I’m not able to even force myself to get things out of me. I have become sensitive, but also numb. I think that’s the right word numb. I don’t know why I am posting this here, this is my last resort of someone helping me getting me out of this hole because I am not able to do it alone. I feel like I am rusting like some old performance car catching dust in a dark garage. I used to believe in God very strongly six months ago. Now I don’t even care to pray to God daily. I don’t know what is wrong if anybody has been here or can help me out or offer me any mentorship, please do so. It may just be my Northstar.

Finance MBA Grad Looking For a Mentor (Willing To Work Hard)

DROPSHIPPING: Hey everyone, I’m from the US, I’ve got a Masters in Finance and solid business fundamentals (P&L, marketing math, unit economics), but I’m brand new to dropshipping specifically. I understand the game, I’m just missing the hands-on experience.

Looking for someone experienced to point me in the right direction on:
- Picking a product/niche to scale
- Building out a store/theme that converts
- The actual process end-to-end (sourcing, testing, scaling, marketing)

Not looking for a free ride and I’m happy to trade value, pay for your time, or just be a low-maintenance mentee who does the work and doesn’t waste yours. If you’re open to it, drop a comment or DM me.

Seeking Looking for a Mentor as I Break into Tech

Hey, I'm 22 and a recent Computer Science grad but I feel like I know nothing and I have no skills. So I am looking for a mentor to keep me accountable and provide some guidance as I self-teach my way into a real tech role.

I am teaching myself to become a Data Engineer. We can get into specifics as we chat but my biggest issue is trusting the plans I make and following through.

If you think you can help, and have the time to mentor a sad, but ambitious, little soul, please reach out!

Seeking Looking For A Mentor

I am looking for a mentor. 28m married working as an accountant. I know there is way more out there in this world for myself. While I am looking to create a path that allows me to be financially free, being able to wake up every morning excited and being able to help people around me is my main focus when I think about changing my life. Sitting at a desk for 9 hours a day staring at spreadsheets cannot be what life is about.

Showing up, being consistent, and working hard are things that come naturally to me. I am also extremely creative.

My passions are sports, hats, gardening, animals and photography(commercial photographer for 4 years).

I bought my first home in December this year and thought the whole process was exhilarating. The house buying process makes me want to get into flipping houses or real estate investing in whole.

Being 28 I understand I have time to figure things out, but at the same time I also know that you cannot push things out or they will never happen.

Would love to connect with someone that has been in my shoes before and created a life they are proud about.

Seeking 23M Seeking a driven mentor with experience in investment properties

To get right to the point here,

I (23M) have goals and am dedicated to becoming my highest self. I currently work at a Top bank in Talent Acquisition and while that is a stable career I am looking to spend my spare time being more hands on and creative.

Ive always been interested in real estate, but less of the flashy avenues. I want to buy foreclosure properties, fix them (by myself, or with a team), and then rent them for steady cashflow.

Not sure if anyone is in the space but I am happy to get on the phone to connect more to explain more about me and learn a bit more about you.

Seeking Looking for a fine art mentor

If you’re a fine artist who’s been able to consistently make over $100k a year (in the past 5 years), I would love to speak with you.

For context I’ve looked up various online courses and creative communities already via Patreon, Mastrius, Sentient, ect. Im looking for someone who makes the build of their income selling and exhibiting their paintings/drawings. I’ve seen videos of fine artists who make a decent living teaching and making online content which I would like to do secondary to selling and exhibiting my paintings/drawings.

I’ve been a practicing visual artist for over a decade and within the past year, I’ve been focused on making it as a fine artist. I’m multidisciplinary (in both digital and traditional mediums), coachable, and hard working. I understand a lot of this industry requires making strong connections and having a recognizable style (which has been my main focus at the moment). You can check out some samples of my work @artofsol on Instagram. Please feel free to DM me with a brief intro and link to your work as well.

Thanks 🫟

hi everyone, recent mba graduate here. honestly im a very confused man right now

i want to become someone like kunal shah, nikhil kamath, elon musk.. but only having ambition is not enough na. every single day i stop myself from actually working on one thing

i have plenty of startup ideas. but when i choose one and complete the initial work, my mind starts thinking.. what if i lose all my little savings? and i just stop there

one more problem. i want to read books like warren buffett, bill gates recommend. but never finished even one. tried 5-6 different types of books, dropped all

im 24 now. seeing everyone on social media earning 1 cr at my same age depresses me more

i just need some advice.. where do i even start? i want to build a million dollar empire and a strong mindset. anyone who was in same situation, please share how you came out of it 🙏

Looking for a Mentor for Business Growth

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a mentor who can help me grow professionally and think more strategically.

I currently work in a company and, while I genuinely enjoy what I do, I've been feeling a bit stuck lately. I often find myself struggling to come up with fresh ideas, figure out the best way to execute them, and organize my thoughts into a clear plan. I feel like I need guidance from someone with more experience who can help me develop a better approach to problem-solving and business growth.

I'm eager to learn, open to feedback, and willing to put in the work. If you've mentored someone before or would be open to sharing your knowledge I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thank you 🌸
