"What's on?" Wednesday

I have noticed there is an increase in the number of homeless people in the city centre. They were fine before but I notice that they have become very aggressive. They fight amongst themselves all the time and perch on doorsteps of residential buildings. Its a pain to get in and out because they aren't kind about being "disturbed" there.

I also notice that they dont take kindly to a no when you dont have cash to spare for them and yell angrily ..... Especially if I am alone or with another girlfriend, less so if I am with another guy.

Its not just with words only. They try and glare to intimidate you and muttered constantly. Its very clear that most of them are under the influence. I have seen them with needs etc and have reported them to the police but they do not seem to do anything about it .

What can we do to make it safer? Carry on reporting to the police or is there an organisation that can help them sober up and stay off the street ?

For the last month or so, I have been in the pre-development stage of a game I have had nesting in my mind for a decade now.

It's an early PS2 era semi-opened world game inspired by the first Mafia and GTAIII set in a fictional Leeds. I have laid the ground work for this project and am very close to beginning asset creation and then coding for the first vertical slice EVER of this project. Something I never even considered however, is if there'd even be an audience for such a thing. There aren't many games that are set in the North of England. Most of the media in this country focuses heavily on the South of England. I had always thought, due to my personal experience growing up on estates across Leeds, that there are many stories you could tell in this city. Even more importantly, I always imagined how fun it would be to muck around in a virtual Leeds.

So I guess my question is: Does anyone even want this? Would it be successful (in relative terms) it could take me years to deliver my vision, even with a team. I have considered that, if it is something worth making due to demand, I would make a Kickstarter and recruit a team and actually realise this idea beyond a glorified demo.

So let me know. I will continue development regardless just for fun, but I can't help but to think it could be bigger.

A riverside park is a nice idea but it's in a weird location and clearly very neglected. Is there a story behind it? Was it originally meant to be part of a larger development then forgotten about? Will it be cared for again as part of the new development next door? Just a bit odd!

Cannot sing enough praises for the great minds that decided travel alerts and the journey planner should not be integrated. What kind of fool uses public transport anyways. Waiting 20mins for a bus that isn't coming thinking "it's a good thing I scheduled to arrive 30mins before my train", serves that poor bastard right.

Hey guys! My name is Patrik and I am currently trying to understand peoples experience with bike theft in Leeds, particularly what happens after somebody discovers that their bike has been stolen.

If you have experienced it, I would be interested to hear:

• How and when the bike was stolen.
• What you did afterwards
• Whether you contacted the Police
• Whether anything helped you recover it.
• What the most frustrating part of the experience was.

I am doing this research to discover whether there is a better way to help people after bike theft than is currently being done.

So I tried the Wawin satay sauce for the first time over the weekend and needless to say I'm completely addicted.

Moving up from London to Leeds this autumn with my partner (both professionals) and we’re looking for local estate agents who come recommended.

Is there any cafe for pets in Leeds (specifically cats)? I miss having a cat to pet since leaving home in 2023.

Is there any cat cafe or cat shelter where one can be around cats and pet them for a bit, in Leeds? The Mr Galaxy in me needs to recharge a bit 😊

Most male barber shops I found are around £15. Any for £10 or so? Within cycling distance of uni.

I’ve read several “where to live in Leeds” threads, but Chapel Allerton, Meanwood and Far Headingley often seem to be recommended for similar reasons: cafés, green space, good access to town and a strong neighbourhood feel.

What are the real differences between them in day-to-day life? What are the local stereotypes of each area, and what kind of person or lifestyle does each suit best?

I’m in my 20s and considering buying or renting a one-bed flat. I’d like nice cafés (doesn't need to be overly trendy or £6-a-coffee fancy), restaurants, local shops, green space and some community life, but not somewhere dominated by nightlife. Safety and easy access to the city centre also matter.

Which would you choose, and why and what's the difference between them?

The Home clearance shop opposite sports direct has been 'closing down' for over a week. 5 days to go, 4 days to go etc. The audio has now been blasting out 'last day of closing down sale' for 3 days.

Go inside and they are shouting half price, yet nothing is half price. They also open all day long on Sundays in breach of Sunday trading rules.

Good luck getting a refund if you decide to purchase anything from them. Trading Standards would have a field day.

Headed home in this direction a couple of times after work now and have seen a congregation of these wheeled servants parked just outside by the railings. I've never seen them anywhere else in Leeds and I can't think of any time i've ever seen a robot delivering food at all come to think of it.
