Attempted more hatching, just wanted to get as much going even if its wrong. Low angles are a struggle, any of you guys got any tips for how to arrange features from below/above? Also any tips for judging how to place center lines for loomis method or just a case of grinding it out and getting good?

i've been drawing everyday for the past week and i feel huge improvement mainly because i finally get the hang of how to do digital art. now i'm trying to do a full piece that i've always dreamed and never dared to do, but i cant seem to get the correct way to what i've envisioned. please tell me what's wrong and maybe some advice too. by the way, for this piece i was trying to imitate someone workflow (how i paint by neg, also the reason for blue and red outline), i tried to use gradient map and it doesn't seem to work as i expected. the character i'm drawing is named chen and hoshiguma.

if you look at my past work, and give advice on what i'm lacking is also apreciated. especially my last piece(the one i posted) which i feel was really perfect except it's dull and not as vibrant as i expected (it doesn't have that sunny mid day feel).

I did a pretty quick skull study (30min, should spend longer next time but its late here and I want to sleep), and I'm open to suggestions on where you think I did well & where I should pay attention to. Furthermore, I'm also welcoming any advice on how I should progress with my facial anatomy study (like a timeline or something would help) as well as any resources that you'd think would help.

Recently I’ve been feeling like I hit a plateau in my art journey. I don’t hate my art, but there are some things I want to improve that I’m really struggling on. I know I could just watch different tutorials on YouTube, but I learn best with a structured plan and guidance. I’ve really been wanting to take an online art course for this reason, but I’m struggling to find one that’s good for me. I’ve looked into Mark Brunets art school but it’s way out of my budget. Prokos course looks good, but it seems to be focused on realism whereas I’m more interested in anime/cartoon styles. I’ve also looked into Skillshare and Coloso, but those have so many options that I’m not even sure where to start. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Hi everyone. I’m 30 year olds and would eventually want to become a tattoo artist so I’m learning how to draw as I come from a strict immigrant background so tattooing was never an option for me so I never gave drawing that much through until know. I know I need to draw every day so I want to get advice, critique as this is pretty much from first drawing. I did use a reference I found online which seems to be an unofficial fan made Haland Lego that I will also attach. I would like to know if there’s anything I did well and any thing I can did bad and should work on. Please note this is pretty much my first drawing. Off the start I’m sure the torso should be longer and the hands were difficult as well as the hair.

I feel like shes leaning her neck forward a bit but im not 100%. All advice and critiques welcome :)

I taught myself how to draw. If I wasn't sure how to light a character's face or how to shape their mouth or something, I'd usually find an art piece with a similarly angled character and study it. Eventually I stopped doing that (mainly because I didn't quite understand what I was looking at most of the time lol), and figured I'd learn better by actually watching process videos/tutorials. And that worked for me... up until a point.

Anyway, once AI took off, I quit entirely. I had no motivation. I didn't like my art and felt it was too plain. That was in like 2024?

Fast-forward 2026. I drew something for the first time in years for a contest. But, obviously, there isn't really a magical difference in my art even after taking such a long break (I'm not sure why I was hoping there would be).

My motivation is quickly tanking again. The basics of sketching and rendering came back quickly, but I'm still struggling with the same issue as before. It feels flat. The lighting might be off? I don't know how to add the... texture, for lack of a better word, that more experienced artists have.

I feel like the curls are just blending into one block of hair, how can I extenuate the curls more?? Im using coloured pencil and oil pastels, i have pencils and most colours, how can I use these.

okay so i’ve been drawing for years now and i recently came up with this cute idea for some wall art in my house. now i’ve been most comfortable working with pen, pencil, and charcoal but i have limited experience with paint and markers as well. i know some color theory but i normally work in black and white so i don’t have as much experience with it as id like. normally i go in with a micron, outline the sketch, and then erase the pencil before i start working on any shading or adding color. i’ve spent a long time working on the sketch and will probably add a couple more things before moving on to that step, but i am terrified of messing it up. i attached some pictures of the sort of style i’m going for, i want it to have a cozy storybook feel. this is on watercolor paper because i wasn’t sure if i wanted to paint it or not so i have lots of options for how i can potentially add color. what do you guys think i should do? how can i get all of my colors to look cohesive when i pick a scheme and add them? what should i focus on when inking the sketch to achieve the style I’m going for? i could also use tips for using watercolor in this scenario. please help!

I have been drawing for years and I managed to get into to a fine arts school next year and I’m afraid out of my mind because my art style is too anime like and the school mainly does semi realistic and still drawings there.

I was wondering what could I do to switch into semi realistic or on how to start because I’m afraid that my art work might not be good enough for this school. 😢

How exactly do I set up a dry gouache palette?

I've already put the gousche in the palette and put it in the fridge for now, do I just leave them on my table without the lid or with the lid idk and and not sure if I have to add any alcohol or whatever ??

Also I'd like to know some tips for gouache, like how to prevent mold and stuff
