I think I'm lactose intolerant, any advice?

I have had a thought about this for a little while but tonight made me strongly consider being lactose intolerant. Every morning for breakfast I make myself a bowl of readybrek (instant porridge) and by the time I get to work (a couple hours later) I need to go to the toilet and my stomach is rumbling so much. Well tonight we had Mac and cheese for dinner and I've been farting so much and they smell really bad, my stomach has been rumbling and in so much pain it's been hard to get comfortable, and it felt like my insides just exploded when I went to the toilet.

I'm going to try cutting out dairy for the rest of the week to see how I feel. Should I also go to the GP if I think I'm lactose intolerant? I'm from the UK so anyone who has gone to the doctor about it would be really helpful if I should do so.

Good lactose free ice cream

I recently found out Kawartha Dairy makes lactose free vanilla and chocolate ice cream!! Thought I’d share, since I’m happy I’m no longer stuck with off-tasting or weird-textured dairy-substitute ice creams

If anyone has other good lactose free ice cream recommendations, please share

It’s miraculous how immediate the change is

I haven’t drunk any milk since Friday and I’ve had no issues with running off to the loo in a major emergency. And that has been a problem for me for several years. I thought it was the coffee, I thought it was alcohol. Nup! Just a good ole dash of milk in my coffee or a horrendous bowl of cereal. Now this begs the question, am I lactose intolerant or allergic to milk? Is that a thing? I’m really interested to know

Does is count as lactose intolerance if the only trigger is moderate amounts of condensed milk?

I don't know if tolerance is a spectrum, and if there is a point where it just enters normal variation. I've noticed consistent, if very mild symptons with condensed milk specifically, but since it doesn't happen to me with literally any other dairy product, I was wondering if it's a very mild form, or just that even tolerance has its limits.

lactose free cream cheese

has anyone else seen a 50% price hike in green valley lactose free cream cheese? i have been purchasing this product religiously for a few years now and suddenly its gone from $4 to $6 per tub in three of the grocery stores near me. insane.

does anyone have any alternative brands they like?

i am located in the US in the boston area. every single vegan "cream cheese" i have ever tried has been like putting straight up coconut oil in my mouth. i dont know how these brands have the gall to release such awful products to the market as if they are food.

Can LI cause fatigue & brain fog without serious GI issues?

Hello all, I’ve been experiencing fatigue and brain fog. I am half Asian (most Asians are lactose intolerant) but I don’t seem to get the more common symptoms of diarrhea, gas, etc. However, I’m wondering if dairy might be causing or at least contributing towards my chronic fatigue.

I’d love to hear any of your thoughts, experiences, or opinions. Thanks!

Pray for me my brothers and sisters for I haven fallen to temptation

In the fridge there's 2% chocolate milk. It called to me like a siren calls a sailor into the rocks. I've taken 3 of my lactaid as a precaution because the last time I've fallen to the folly of curiosity and desire I had the worst farts and probably a traumatic shit I cannot remember.

I'm drinking it for whom the bell tolls rings in my head. Pray for me

Cream vs ice cream

glass of milk will destroy my stomach (diarrhea) but cheese yogurt Ice cream all fine.
Im experimenting with drinking pure cream, going slow and my stomach is making some concerned noises but nothing terrible has happened yet…

im wondering if there’s a reason I would be able to handle ice cream fine but have a harder time with liquid cream?

Am I lactose intolerant?

Hi! I’m just trying to figure it out, and after I ate a soft serve yesterday and got my usual stomach ache and linked it to also having that stomach pain when I eat cheese like mozzarella it was like something clicked.

Now I don’t know for sure because of the symptoms that seem common don’t present in me the same way.
I get nauseous and bloated, then the pain (in my stomach, not my intestines) gets worse and worse until it’s up to about a seven/eight and I can’t lay still anymore. This pain is so intense and also goes to my upper back. This while I’m constipated and nauseous and gassy.

Then the next day I will be on the toilet for a while.

My question is if it can be LI despite only feeling pain in my stomach and not in my intestines!

Thank you in advance for helping me!!

I knew I shouldn't have trusted it!!!

I decided to make Hot Italian Sausage Mac & Cheese and used this supposed "Lactose-Free" Carnation evaporated milk. I even took 3 Lacto-Joy tablets before eating. 30 minutes later my guts were rumbling and I hardly made it to the toilet. When will I learn never to trust stuff that says "lactose-free"? Anyone else have this happen?

In my last post I asked if I’m intolerant.
I haven’t drank any milk today. My night shifts are shocking digestion wise, fart, inflammation, going yo the toilet in a hurry because I think I’m gonna you know what. Tonight I’ve only drunk black coffee and I haven’t so much as had a belly rumble!! This whole time I thought it was the coffee, it’s the damn milk!! I have suffered like this for frickin years. Wow what a relief. Not to mention my body feels clear and nice

My demons

My demons may haunt me so, follow me wherever I run. Yet, I shan't give in, I shan't let them take a hold of me no matter the situation! I shall always persevere never letting them win.

(My demons is my lactose intolerance simultaneously giving me constipation and diarhea)

Lactose free dairy products vs lactase enzyme

Hello,

I can digest well the lactose free dairy products.

What if I buy normal dairy products and I take a lactase enzyme pill before my meal?

Could I digest well?

Ways to stop being lactose intolerant

Everyday I always consume milk and at the end of the day I end up doing the yk in the toilet. I really hate lactose intolerance because me as a person I LOVE drinking or eating anything that has milk like until it’s an addiction. Every week I consume milk like 6/7 days (no joke intended). Is their like a medicine or something to stop being lactose once and for all so I can continue drinking/eating milk stuff without having stomach issues.

am i lactose intolerant or just overreacting?

my whole life, milk and milkshakes have always made my stomach hurt really badly. recently it’s gotten worse and made me think that i may be lactose intolerant. is this normal? because it doesn’t make me need to poo or anything—it just makes me nauseous. i’m not one to self-diagnose, so i need y’all’s opinion.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I am lactose intolerant. But I love yogurt – especially Greek yogurt. Help. Is there anything I can do or take so I can keep eating yogurt?

did yall lose weight?

about 2 months ago, I got tested for lactose intolerance. I went to my doctor and she told me im extremely skinny and I should get tested for gluten and go to the nutritionist. I looked at her crazy bc I didn't realize that I actually lost weight, I was 52kg for literally years, im 160cm tall (F) and now im around 48-49kg. I never went to get checked for gluten and never went to the nutritionist and now im thinking maybe she was right about it.

I'm eating all the time, about the same amount of food, I lost 5cm in my hips which is crazy I literally feel flat 😅

where does the food go?? im actually worried, like what if its something serious?
