Hire Benakal, in Karnataka's Koppal district, is one of India's largest and best-preserved megalithic sites. Famous for its 2,500–3,000-year-old stone dolmens, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the burial traditions of the Iron Age amidst a scenic rocky landscape.

Exploring Aihole
A few photographs from my recent visit to Aihole, often regarded as the Cradle of Indian Temple Architecture.
Aihole is home to over a hundred temples and monuments, reflecting the Early Chalukyas' remarkable experimentation with temple architecture. Walking through the site feels like witnessing the evolution of architectural ideas that later flourished across the Indian subcontinent.
I found it to be an extraordinary place for anyone interested in history, archaeology, or ancient Indian architecture.
I'd love to hear your observations, favourite monuments at Aihole, or any historical insights you'd like to share.
I've also created a documentary-style video on Aihole. Watch the complete Chalukya Heritage series—links to all three episodes are in the comments below.

A server error accidentally gave us the perfect day in Udupi
My friend is from Bangalore and I'm from Mysore. We both told our families that we were going to Udupi for passport verification which was actually true. We had our appointment, but due to a server error the verification couldn't be completed.
Since we were already there, we decided not to waste the trip. We rented a bike and just started exploring. Instead of only visiting the temple, we rode through the villages, crossed rivers and small streams, visited a dam, spent time at Malpe Beach, and just enjoyed the peaceful countryside. We even rode through arecanut (adike) plantations. It rained on and off throughout the day, but somehow that made the ride even better.
The people in Udupi were incredibly kind and helpful wherever we went. And the food... absolutely amazing! We had goli baje and Mangalore buns, and they were some of the best snacks I've ever eaten.
It wasn't a trip we had planned at all, but it ended up becoming one of the most memorable days I've had with my close friend. Sometimes the best trips are the ones that happen because things don't go according to plan.
Udupi, we'll definitely be back. ❤️

300-year-old Lingam-shaped stepwell revived in Karnataka: Buried under garbage for decades, historic well draws crowd in Belagavi
A 300-year-old stepwell in Karnataka's Belagavi district has been restored after being buried under garbage and debris for years. Revived by the Pyaas Foundation with support from NSS volunteers and local residents, the historic structure has once again emerged as a symbol of the region's rich heritage and water conservation legacy.

Do Non-IT Professionals Work More, Earn Less, and Feel Undervalued Compared to IT?
Are there others here who feel overlooked despite years of education, hard work, and dedication?
I'm thinking about creating a community for people who are not in the IT sector—especially those with Master's degrees, PhDs, or engineering backgrounds who work in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, manufacturing, quality control, R&D, production, academics, and research.
Many of us work long hours, rotating shifts, night shifts, and even weekends. Some have 4–10 years of experience, yet earn significantly less than professionals in certain other industries. The issue is not just salary—it's the constant comparison that affects motivation and job satisfaction.
I've seen highly qualified scientists, researchers, and engineers working 10–12 hour shifts, six days a week, while struggling to see financial growth that matches their qualifications and effort. As a result, many talented people are leaving their fields, losing interest in research, or trying to switch careers simply because they feel undervalued.
This is not about criticizing any profession. Every industry has its own challenges. But it's important to discuss the realities faced by professionals in science, manufacturing, research, and core engineering sectors.
The goal of this community is to:
• Share career experiences and challenges
• Discuss salary growth and industry realities
• Support each other professionally and mentally
• Explore opportunities for upskilling and career advancement
• Advocate for better recognition of scientists, researchers, and manufacturing professionals
If you're a scientist, researcher, engineer, production professional, academic, or anyone working outside the IT bubble, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Would you join such a community?
