Unfortunately there was a bunch of russian influence in Ukraine creating that corruption problem. Part of the reason why Russia invaded was because the newly elected government in '22 was working hard on weeding it out.

That's an oversimplification, they were weeding out Russian corruption as a competitor to their corruption, but it's still just as corrupt

Do expand please. The corruption still happening is just now from Zelensky's side of the aisle instead of from Russian loyalists.
