Discussion Am I the only one who hasn’t used the Camera Control button even once ?

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

I’ve had my iPhone for about six months now, and I genuinely haven’t used this button even once. I still automatically open the Camera app from the lock screen like before.
Does anyone actually use it regularly, or has it become a completely forgotten button for you too?

Support Why is my phone like this

So I recently bought a phone off my mate and it’s doing something I’ve not seen before. When I reset it it turns on with vibrant colours and whatnot but after like 5mins of use (not getting hot or anything) it loses all vibrancy and gets like a grey cast that makes it borderline unusable (see last pic) and it just gets worse the longer I use it. All of these pics were taken on the lowest brightness setting by the way.

What the heck is this? I have tried:
Reset phone
Hard reset phone
Reset all settings
Turn all display settings off
Turn auto brightness on/off quickly a bunch of times
It is up to date with iOS

Please help me out!

Discussion Back up my iPhone photos to a PC

Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone with 256 GB of storage, and it's now almost completely full (about 99%), mostly with photos and videos.

I'd like to transfer everything to my PC and then free up space on the phone. What's the best way to do this? Is a USB cable enough, or do I need a specific app or another method?

My main concern is preserving everything exactly as it is:

  • Original photo and video quality
  • Live Photos
  • Metadata (dates, locations, camera info, etc.)
  • Albums and organization

Ideally, if I ever decide to copy everything back to my iPhone in the future, I'd like the photos and videos to appear exactly like the originals, with all their information intact.

What would you recommend? I've never owned an iPhone before, so I'm not sure what the best approach is.

Discussion Turned an old iPhone 7 Plus into a privacy-focused burner phone. Did I miss anything?

I have an old iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 15.8.8. Since it’s losing app support and I don’t really care about recovering it if it gets lost, I decided to lock it down as much as possible.

My goal:

If someone gets the phone, I want the data to be basically inaccessible.
If something happens to it, I don't care about getting the device back.
I want as little personal information exposed as possible.

What I changed:

✅ Enabled Erase Data after 10 failed passcode attempts

✅ Set a long, strong alphanumeric passcode

✅ Disabled unnecessary Lock Screen access (Control Center, Siri, notifications, USB accessories, etc.)

✅ Turned off Find My iPhone because I don't want the device/location visible through my account

✅ Removed/plan to remove Medical ID from that device

✅ Reviewing privacy settings, app permissions, and stored data

I know turning off Find My removes Activation Lock and makes the phone easier to reuse if stolen, but since this is basically a disposable device, I care more about protecting the data than recovering the phone.

So here are a few questions...:

Is there anything else I should disable/remove to reduce links back to me?

Are there any hidden privacy settings on iOS 15 I should check?

Is keeping it signed into my Apple Account a bad idea if I want it less connected to me?

I know the iPhone 7 Plus is ancient by now, but it still works and I figured I might as well make it as secure as possible instead of letting it sit in a drawer, plus i use it as a burner phone for when I don't want to use any of my main devices

Discussion PARENTS! And previous Android users!

My kid (11) is about to get his first phone next week, he doesn't know a thing about it. iPhone 14.

15 years ago, I worked in the Apple store. And ironically, this is the last time I owned an iPhone! Moved to Samsung, then generic Android. Been using the Honor Magic7 Pro for the last 6 months. So I have little to no idea of what new stuff is out there to link iPhone to iPhone for controls etc.

Am I right in thinking, in order to keep track of my child's usage/control of his phone, I'd be better off going BACK to iPhone?

What are the parental controls like? Are there apps that can link both of our phones for me to be able to approve purchases/see what he's doing at a linear level? I know about Life360 and we use that as a family but does iPhone have their own thing? I plan on taking the phone from him each night, having a passcode known to both of us, having him allow me to check the phone at random intervals, etc.. etc. These will be hard and fixed rules but I obviously don't want to be looking over his shoulder ALL the time when he's using it or away from me during the day.

I think 11 is probably a bit too young to have carte blanche rule over a smartphone device, and believe me, if I had my way he'd be waiting a few years to get this phone - but he's about to start a new school and apparently ALL his new friends all have them, so I've caved to (peer) pressure and just decided to get him one also.

I would miss an Android handset, but I think I need to put my child's safety online above my joy of being able to multitask apps on my Honor!

Any/all opinion and advice appreciated, thanks folks.

Support Seeing passwords for apps I didn't register for on the passwords app

I checked the 'passwords' app and it has passwords for apps i didn't interact with at all. For context, my account is in a family with my mom and the apps were 'WISE', 'DOWN', and 'TINDER'. Idk if it's my mom or not but it's scary both ways considering what kind of apps they are. Pls help if you know what's going on and feel free to ask for more details!

Support Help with IPhone 5 stuck in DFU mode

Context: Dug up mum's old IPhone 5 which has been dead for over 10+ years now. Plugging it into my mac, Finder shows the phone is stuck in DFU mode.

Question: I want to know whether the phone being in DFU mode has already erased her old data, as I would like to recover old pictures on it for her.

If it is still recoverable, I would appreciate the help.

Discussion Has anyone had a phone repaired locally that actually held up over time?

Got my phone repaired at a local shop in San Antonio, TX, a while back. Curious if others have had good or bad experiences with local repairs actually lasting.

Did it hold up, or did you end up having issues again?

Support Some apps block incoming calls, how to solve this problem???

I have an iphone 13 mini, I know it's old but all the updates are installed, everything is working... kinda. Except the apps like Strava or a timer or Documents or maybe some others that are working in the background, they block the incoming calls and messages. Maybe not directly but now, every time when I run such an app, I found no incoming calls are accepted. iMessage is working though but no calls, no SMS.

Any ideas why and how to fix it?

Discussion Turn off phrase autocomplete (iphone 17 pro max)

How do i stop my phone from changing words after i have FINISHED typing sentences???? I know iphone now has phrase prediction, how do i turn it off because it is changing the meaning of my sentences and I am not catching it every time it does it!

Just to highlight how insane and extreme this issue is: I am shopping for a house and my fucking phone decided to tell the agent that I want to put in an offer when I said I did NOT want to. I was actually looking at the text when it changed the words. I could not believe it. Imagine if I sent that without noticing the change.

It is changing meaning in very serious ways.

There has to be a way to disable this without removing autocomplete entirely.

Support iPhone 12 mini boot loop issue

Hi everyone. Last night my phone was being a little glitchy and weird (some keys were not working properly, and messages weren't sending after clicking 'send') so I decided to turn it off and on again. Soon after, I realised the phone had been stuck on the white apple logo for a while. As far as I can make out this is a boot loop. I've got an Apple charging cable and I've tried updating via Finder, but I don't think the phone has any space (I'm getting a 1110 message). I've downloaded 3uTools but for some reason the device is not registering, as 3uTools only says 'Please connect device to computer via USB cable'. Does anyone have any advice?

Support Iphone 16 missed calls

I'll preface this by saying it is likely the carrier being dogwater, but anyone experienced, since the last IOS update, that their phone doesn't even ring on missed calls, nor show as a call, nor show a new VM and calling out can take 30 seconds to hear it dial out. Trying to run a business and missing client calls is costing.

Hardware solves before carrier solves because i hate being flowcharted.

Support iPhone 13 silence button not working

It’s an iPhone 13, iOS 26.5.2. I went to bed the other night and it was fine. When I woke up the silence mode turned off and no matter how many time I move the switch it refuses to turn on. I tried fully powering it off and on again. I also tried to look around my settings to see if there was a way to turn it back on that way, but no use. Is there anyway I can fix this or is this just how it is now?

Support Find my iPhone not updated on stolen phone

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey all. My phone was unfortunately stolen yesterday and turned off immediately. I was able to mark it lost on Find my iPhone and was able to see where it was going all day yesterday (although it only really updated every 20/30min?) it tracked this morning but it hasn’t updated since. Any reason why?

Also - can I play a sound while the phone is off?

What steps can I take to get my phone back?

Discussion Grey dot

Mini 12 iOS 26.5.2
There’s a small 2 to 3 mm grey dot that shows up randomly on the face of my iPhone. Usually it’s in the lower third dead center. But occasionally it does show up in other spots. Anyone else have this?
