What’s your major and how much are y’all getting paid at your internships and what state?

Last time i posted, this was just starting. As of now there are like 100 intern roles open and 66 are for summer 2027 - NVidia, palantir, anduril, scale ai, notion etc... and almost every quant firm is already hiring for summer intern!!!

One goated method for yall!!! Reach out to people from LinkedIn, mostly alumni from your school and ask them for ref (trust me it takes hits but it works, i got a ref for amex, 2 google, amazon, uber, apple) - try to send a message 2-3 people. (start rn so u have time)

I’m doing an internship in London with a big company for 7 weeks. I’m from the West Midlands and I just graduated h I and I have managed to find a family member to stay with on the weekdays whilst doing this internship. The thing I’m stressing over is the fact if I get a return offer, would it be the best thing to accept right now? I’m 22, and I have an option to move back to my uni city, Leeds, with my best friend. Rent is significantly cheaper and I’d have my own freedom- however if I get a return offer, it would mean me moving to London for this job. I would most definitely not be faced with the same amount of rent that Leeds would offer (probably 3x more) and would also probably have to sublet/ house share with many other people. Am I better off just having this experience from this prestigious internship and then move back up north with my friend, whilst saving money but struggle (or maybe I may perhaps flourish there tbf) in a different job market or do I thug it out in the city of dreams (London) with loads of opportunities and jobs- but end up spending most of my salary on rent and barely saving anything?

I'm just kinda confused on what I should be applying for. I know there are new grad programs and internships for those graduating in spring 2027. Those I apply as fast as I can.

But should I apply to full time roles as well? Or is that a waste of time?

I have secured an internship and have been going there for three days now but the problem is that my parents are really against it. The reason basically bc it’s a 40 minutes drive. I live away from companies so it’s impossible for me to get smth near. They keep nagging me everyday and brought it in every argument and saying stuff like “we know that u got an internship bc u want to tor/ture us” and “ only god knows what r u doin there”. I really don’t know what to do and please don’t tell me bc of gas and stuff I’m paying the gas from my savings.

Hi I'm 19(F) and a fresh grad in BS Accounting and Finance. Also an ACCA Finalist with 9/13 exams completed. Born and raised in pakistan, ive faced immense pressure to be somewhere early.

My entire life has been a series of complex study dynamics. I had gained international exposure, experience from USA where i participated at Harvard National mun in boston. Im also a member of united nation association of pakistan. My research is in finance tho. Im a complex mix of diplomacy and finance.

International relation and diplomacy has been my life long passion but i wasnt able to make it since these fields are highly competitive and cant make in without reference from someone high profile. so i feel like i have to let go of this dream. Job market in pakistan is so so saturated, i cant stand a chance. Ive tried to do everything at the same time. Acca, UN exposure, and bachelor all at the same time. Also an internhsip at assistant commisioners office in finance.

Now that ive graduated, i stand nowhere in the market. cant even get in unpaid internships. it has costed me my gpa since i tried to do everything during my bachelor years. Education is a test of memory here. no real exposure or any place to do so .ive been loyal and hell bent on the UN for years now but ive never even once had the opportunity to work for them directly. that feels like failure. that ive done nothing in my life, at that point everything looks useless and worthless. idk what im doing in my life.

what do i do now? no job, no financial independency, no stability. it consumes my mind day and night. I wanted to travel and see the world

Hi everyone! I have an interview next Monday/Tuesday for an OSCE internship with the Transnational Threats Department / Strategic Police Matters Unit (TNTD/SPMU) at the Secretariat in Vienna.

Has anyone gone through an OSCE internship interview (Secretariat or field operations)? I'd really appreciate any insights on:

• What questions did they ask you? (competency-based? motivation? technical/thematic questions on the unit's mandate?)
• How long was the interview and who was on the panel? (HR + unit staff?)
• Did they ask scenario questions (e.g. "how would you handle X")?
• Any thematic knowledge I should brush up on? (organized crime, SALW, cybercrime, democratic policing?)
• Any tips on what they're really looking for in interns?

My background is in IR and disarmament, currently based in Geneva. The interview is in just a few days, so any recent experience would be gold. Thanks so much!

I’ve noticed many students struggle to get shortlisted for cybersecurity internships because they don’t have practical projects on their resumes.
From what I’ve seen, recruiters usually value:
Hands-on projects
Security audit reports
Practical exposure to industry tools
Certificates that demonstrate consistent learning
What projects helped you land your first internship?

Will I just waste the rest of my younger years away working shitty jobs and amounting to nothing?

I work at a pretty big company and they have a program where students in school, can do the internship/co-op. The schedule is flexible and it’s supposed to be accommodating to classes. In the summer, they give the option to stay a co-op or work full time.

Now, when I got hired I was hired on as a remote worker. It was super unorganized and I would get like one easy task every 2 days - like putting in data to an excel. That’s it.

Then after 4 months they moved me to a different team where I took over someone’s spot (since 2 people left that team in a month). So I’ve been doing that role and I’ve been learning it pretty well so far.

But as time goes on I’m realizing I’m overworked like hell. For starters I’m taking two asynchronous summer classes but they want me to take the exams AT work. I was supposed to be hybrid for the summer but the company got RTO so I come in and drive 2 hours every day. I often have to stay overtime.

Next, they want me to build a powerBI - I told them that it’s still fairly new to me but I’d be interested in learning it and they were just forcing a whole project on me that’s due in a month… like what? They told me to watch YouTube videos to learn it. Not only that, when I reached out to a team member who specializes in power BI I set up a learning session so he could teach me a bit of the basics, and my manager frowned upon that.

Now they want me to do more stuff like presentations in front of the department head, another powerBI, making another dashboard, coding some data they are having trouble with, training this new guy on our team, and processing a couple hundred checks every week. I haven’t been able to go to ANY of the intern events at all which has been so sad because I’ve been wanting to connect with the other interns for months and I haven’t been able to because I’m so busy with this work.

I don’t know anymore. Tomorrow I’m expected to take my exam at work, I had to skip a really really cool event they were having for the interns today. It just sucks and I’m sad. They put so much pressure on me and I only have so many hours in a day. It’s to the point where I come home and I literally work more on things too and it’s not enough.

I know posting anonymous on reddit will seem lazy to some people. Thats not the case with me, am basically losing hope here, after trying reaching out to people and endless applications, am so devastated.

I have finished year 3 of engineering from Western university, and my grades are pretty alright and have worked on multiple projects as well. I just cant even bring myself to type much honestly am losing all hope. School starts in september and idek if i can land a long term internship before that. I had hope that this doesnt define my career and all that but now I'm drowning in fear of even after graduation. Any help or connections or even just advice appreciated guys. Thanks

I’m looking for some perspective from people who’ve been through internships or graduate roles.
I’m a 31-year-old master’s student currently doing a UX internship at a well-known AI company.

The internship started really positively. I asked lots of questions, occasionally interrupted people without meaning to, apologised, and everyone was very reassuring. I felt like I was settling in well.

A few weeks later, I had my mid-term review. The feedback was constructive: improve my communication, collaborate more effectively, leave more space for others in meetings, and develop my critical thinking. I accepted the feedback and genuinely tried to change my approach rather than defend myself.

Since then, I’ve consciously spoken less in meetings, hosted a team catch-up without dominating the conversation, and tried to apply the feedback. The problem is that I now feel like I’m analysing every interaction afterwards.

Part of what I’m struggling with is comparing my work to another intern’s. My project has felt quite constrained. I proposed a direction that wasn’t the one the team wanted, so I was shown the preferred approach and redesigned around that. It often feels like my role is to execute within an existing direction rather than explore ideas. The work gets done, but I don’t feel like I’m creating much impact through critical thinking.

Meanwhile, the other intern seems to have more freedom because the direction of his work has been well received. Seeing that naturally makes me question whether I’m progressing in the same way.

I also wonder whether I’m confusing professionalism with poor performance. At the beginning, everyone seemed more relaxed and encouraging. Since the review, everything feels much more task-focused. Maybe that’s just how workplaces are once expectations become clearer, but it’s left me feeling like I’m not doing very well, even though I’m still delivering the work I’m asked to do.
I suppose my main question is this:

Has anyone else had an internship where you genuinely felt like you weren’t doing that well or that the atmosphere had changed, but still ended up receiving a return offer or positive outcome?

I’m not looking for false reassurance. I’m genuinely interested in how people distinguished between actual performance issues and the anxiety that can come from receiving developmental feedback for the first time.

I’m the team’s 2nd-ever intern, and they’re treating me like a full-timer who’s been here for years. The amount of responsibility is INSANE.

I genuinely have no life, and no matter how long I spend on things, my mentor just shreds it apart.

He just chewed me tf out today. I’ve been on a day-to-day project for a month, and have coordinated a million things.

He’s pointed out a few things that r missing, and a deadline for this is coming up — so he’s quite frustrated. Gave me some shit.

Side-note: I think they take my housing stipend tho (have to pay all of it back in full)…. So maybe I need to rough it out… maybe hope I get fired.

I’ve had 4 internships before this, got ROs at each one. Great performance reviews as well. They’re still making me doubt my confidence. I feel like an utter idiot.

I have today received an OA for CTC for SE intern role for next summer (S27). I am on my current internship at telecom company and have about three more weeks left. I felt like I was late for the job and was expecting auto-reject cuz my profile is state everything. Nothing flashy in my opinion.

So, basically i would appreciate if anyone who got OA or completed and moved to next stage before can give any tips and share their experience would be really appreciated.

FYI: I fumbled tech fellowship at JP Morgan for HireVue and felt like i was not good enough and was really felt heartbroken.

Honestly just came back from a networking event that I wish I would have done more at. I gave there recruiters in my face but get so nervous understanding how I should go about a conversation. How direct can you be with them? Is it inappropriate to ask them to review your resume? If they don’t recruit for your position could you ask them to refer you to someone who DOES recruit for your position/role? How direct could you go about situations like that?

Can anyone give me advice on what or how to speak to these recruiters what could I possibly say? Especially if it’s after an event where I already have learned about the company and culture…

Hi everyone! I’m looking for any advice you have.
I’m a rising junior majoring in International Business and Economics, and I’ve had a really difficult time landing an internship. I have a high GPA, I’m involved in several campus organizations, I work during the school year, and I volunteer, so I feel like I have a solid resume, but I’m clearly missing something.

Last application cycle, I applied to 60+ internships for Summer 2026 and 2027. I only received two interviews, and through those experiences I realized I wasn’t as interested in those particular fields as I originally thought.

At this point, I think I’m most interested in consulting or another client-facing business role where I can work directly with people.

For those of you who have successfully landed internships:
How did you network effectively?
What types of roles or companies should I be targeting?
Is there anything you wish you had done earlier in college that helped you get an internship?

I started my internship about three weeks ago, I work in the tech department at a well known bank.

Now, in the past three weeks I’ve been given next to no work to do. In my first week I was supposed to be issued a company laptop but every-time Id ask for an update, I’m told that there was some issue leading to a delay in giving me a laptop. When I asked if I could bring my own laptop, I was told no as it’s a very secure facility and they don’t even give WiFi to anyone.

Due to this, my first week was spent just watching my
Supervisor doing work and just chatting with the employees. I did learn abt the work but there’s only
So much I can learn by just watching.

I was finally given a laptop over a week later but even then there were issues as the LAN stopped working and I needed it to be able to download VScode on the laptop. Then, the only work I was given was just some basic excel work. They wouldn’t even let me run queries on sql myself despite me telling them I know how. All I was tasked to do was copy in for from one table and format it in excel and then just send the work over.

It’s week 3 now and this is all I’ve been doing. I’ve consistently asked for more work and expressed that I want to do more but it doenst seem that anyone’s interested in giving me more.

So at this point what do I even out on my CV since I don’t have anything valuable to add?
