In the end it says “fix it, not break it” btw

Taking about bond between countries. And also refering to the shoe indirectly.

In today's India this ad would face backlash lol

But why the French flags?

u/benjacob 7h ago

Compliance, Indian flag code prohibit the use of flag for commercial, trade purposes.

u/Frost_moss 6h ago

How does that work with shipping? As ships need to be flagged under a nation.

53

u/AGreatConspiracy 5h ago

It’s restricted for use in commercial branding or marketing specifically, it’s fine to fly on ships

They usually use the three colored strips similar to the actual with the word India underneath to identify from India.

flag of Niger was better option. Hungary, Ireland too

could have used a different orange - white - green flag, idk, diagonal stripes. but fair.

US needs that. They are way too obsessed with flags.

Bro I hope not. They'll end up using maple leaf.

BTW they are recreating the beating ceremony on the india pakistan border where soldiers march and complete who can lift their legs the highest

u/Thick-Ad-4168 8h ago

complete who can lift their legs the highest

yeah no , that not what they do. It's just a beating retreat ceremony in which one part of the act include stomping your foot

23

u/pratyd 7h ago

No. As an Indian, it is a leg lifting competition only. Also it is a competition of who can stomp the bigger hole in the ground.

u/neonmonkey97 7h ago

No as an Indian enichu po maire

If this advertisement were to come out today there would be so many riots against fevicol lol

Yep. I remember a professor of mine saying they used to support Pakistan's cricket team if India ever got eliminated out of a tournament, because we related with them the most. International relations and brotherhood have broken down beyond repair now.

u/Rapi64 5h ago

This seems to only be the sentiment in South Asia itself. If you go to the US or anywhere else Pakistanis and Indians get along very well. Even during the last conflict it was chill here

6

u/WarJaques 5h ago

Could Fevicol fix it?

9

u/Add-apt 9h ago

That's awesome haha

This brand has the most witty and brilliant ads ever. Just watch them on YouTube for some good time. Pidilite.

The leg-beating ceremony is already absurd enough without a brand trying to sell me tea in the middle of it

4

u/DragonKhan2000 5h ago

You use tea to fix shoe soles?

1

u/fairlykeenstorey 4h ago

No, that's the absurd part, they're beating a shoe sole and then cutting to a tea break like it's the natural next step.
