Why is everyone joking about this? This isn't some wacky one-off item from some antique shop. This is a full fledged American business corp that sells this item online. So each time someone places a $750 order do they go kill a raccoon and stuff it? All for a tacky showpiece that some rich fuck can laugh at?
This is so tasteless, disgusting, and totally needless cruelty. If any other country had something like this, reddit would be frothing at the mouth over animal cruelty.

Because we literally have hunting seasons for these animals. They are a nuisance most of the time but either way if you get your state license for game and have a registered firearm (and property) it’s fair game.
→ More replies (15)13
u/Dathouen 8d ago
You don't even need a license to kill them in my state, any more so than you'd need one to kill a rat. Granted, it's kinda our fault they're a nuisance. They're omnivores and opportunistic scavengers, so they went from hunting and gathering out in the wild to having tons of food they don't really have to compete for in places where their natural predators aren't willing to tread.
Also, it's legal to keep them as pets as well so long as you get them their shots and have them neutered.
17
u/Sea-Machine-8989 8d ago
I'm Norwegian, I grew up with a taxidermied lynx in my grandparents living room. My grandfather didn't kill it for fun, he ran it over while working as a train conductor. Every time I saw that lynx I only got respect for life and how easily it can get snuffed.
It's a racoon, if you eat meat, drink milk or wear leather you're already murdering more animals than any hunter giving a racoon for taxidermy.
12
u/Juiced_Rasputin_ 8d ago
Listen I think they’re overreacting as well but I think it’s perfectly reasonable to be put off by someone walking around with a taxidermied raccoon that legitimately looks like it was killed 12 hours ago.
That last bit is hyperbole, but to act as if it’s some grand offense to kind of frown at this/ thinking that eating a hamburger is the same approximation of visibly carrying taxidermy is crazy
It’s nothing to clutch pearls for but it’s dismissive to pretend as if it’s not needlessly tacky.
→ More replies (2)4
u/JupiterTVrobot 8d ago edited 8d ago
So you're saying that each time someone orders this $750 item, the kind shop owners go scouting the highways and train tracks and bushes looking for roadkill and raccoon corpses? Are those roadkill raccoons, probably squished completely, even candidates for taxidermy? You and I both know that these animals are sought out and killed. Just to make a mockery of their corpse so some rich fuck can have a laugh. I can't believe the usually holier-than-thou redditors who love to preach, justify this disgusting, tasteless and needlessly cruel activity.
And just because I may not harangue people for what they eat (something that may be constrained by their environment and economic status), doesn't mean that it's okay to kill animals just to display their corpse as a tacky showpiece. It's not an all or nothing. Do you justify all animal cruelty this way? We anyway eat meat, so what's the big deal in torturing pets, right?

Not just a racoon. Zoom in because it has an empty liquor bottle.

He’s 20 and makes over 600k a week, that kind of thing is brain poison. Even if he’s a down to earth guy in other ways, his relationship with money and material things is never going to be anything we’d recognize as normal.
For comparison, this is like someone who makes $100k a year spending about $120 on a bag.

BrewDog, a Scottish brewery made a limited release a few years ago, with a beer, which only had 55% alchohol. The glass bottle, was put inside a squirrel. They only made 12 bottles, with a price tag about 750USD each, at release, but have become much more expensive, afterwards. It was called "End of history"
It could have been a cool gimmick to show up at the red carpet, wearing gold speedos, jump out of your Pagani Zonda R, Mazda 787B, or BMW Isetta, with a squirrel who have had a its intestines replaced with a weak beer and then just pour all of it in a beer bong, chugging It before you do the drunk dragon.
The squirrel beer. https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna38376048
