You may have noticed our service was unavailable for about four hours today, July 22. We're sorry for the disruption.
We took the service offline to investigate and address a potential security issue. After a thorough investigation, we've confirmed that your account data was not compromised. Your passwords and data are secure, and remained secure throughout.
Over the coming weeks we'll be rolling out additional measures to harden our systems even further. As part of that, we'll invite you to reset your password at your convenience, and we'll ask everyone to do so at a later date. There's nothing you need to do right now.
Thanks for your patience, and for being an iRacing member.

From the staff post on the member forums:
Hi, iRacing,
We've entered an unplanned emergency maintenance mode while we investigate a potential critical security issue.
We'll have more information for you after our initial investigation.
Demo Drive is up for your enjoyment!
Thank you for your patience.
ETA: From https://bsky.app/profile/iracingsupport.iracing.com/post/3mrasa5y4722g, they will be recommending (forcing?) password resets when service resumes.
ETA2: Apparently they've removed the phrase "critical security" from the forum post regarding this.
ETA3: Final update from iRacing staff on this outage:

I've been building this on and off for a while and finally got the desktop app to a usable state, so figured I'd share.
parcferme.cc — setups for iRacing, LMU and ACC. Free, no paywall, no subscription, browse without logging in.
The desktop app is the part I made for myself: click EQUIP on the site and the file goes straight into the right car folder in your iRacing setups directory. No downloads folder archaeology.
It's early (v0.2.0) so there are rough edges. If you've got a non-standard iRacing install path I'd especially like to hear about it.

I don’t understand why people are treating ITested as similar driving standards to week 13? It’s not even counting IR and it’s basically free SR if you are careful while driving.
I checked some of the results of the ITested series and the majority who participated in the series has lost SR. Why aren’t people just treating this like a track day and being extra careful since the results don’t matter?

I haven't had a chance to try out the newly released league yet. However, I was drinking my morning coffee and two questions came to mind:
Knowing iRacing and other multiclass races, it's probably just a case of going around the crashed car while the pace cars just phase through the collided cars. But maybe someone has already experienced such a scenario, hence my question to feed my curiosity. Thanks

Anyone know what overlay pack this is?
It looks really close to NASCAR on TV.
Any ideas?

I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced what I experienced these last few weeks.
A little background information: I’ve always been primarily a GT3 racer and when I bought iRacing, I basically did whatever I needed to do in order to improve my SR to get into the GT3 races as quickly as I could. At the start of this season, my SR rating was high enough from last season to earn automatic promotion into A-class. This prompted me to try out the GTP’s, specifically in the IMSA series, and after a little bit of figuring out how to drive the GTP’s quickly during the Spa week, I’ve fallen in love with these cars and quickly found myself driving at a pace that far exceeds what my iR indicates what it should be.
Before this season, I refused to drive GTP’s/Prototypes on any other racing game I used to play because I hated them. They’re now my favorite class of racing. I’m hovering around a 1700-1850 iR, but my raw pace is that of drivers who are rated at 3k-7k depending on the track.
In GT3’s, I generally feel that my iRating is rather accurate for my pace/racecraft ability, or at least I’m at the pace of a 2k-2.2k driver, but this isn’t that large of a difference as compared to the GTP’s. I will add too that my driving in GT3’s is better now because of my practice with GTP’s which has made my driving inputs much smoother.
As an example in the fixed IMSA series, my PB on Interlagos was a 1:22.5, and my current PB on Road America is a 1:50.9 and I can consistently hit those lap times to within a .5 of a second (still improving my consistency), but the only drivers who are consistently hitting those same lap times or better in open practices/races are significantly ahead of me in terms of iRating. Just in the past week, I finally won my first IMSA race and it so happened to be the top split (which is my first top split win ever), and I beat out drivers who had well more than double my iRating.
Has anyone experienced this after moving to a faster series?

Hi guys,
right now Im trying to decide which GT4 car to buy. I checked the splits of the last days and saw that like 95% are BMW and Mercs.
I drove the Mclaren in test drive and thought its pretty nice.
Is there any major downside to it? I tried the same tracks with the GT4 porsche, merc, bmw & mclaren and I had the feeling that I made the most "progress" in the mclaren.
Is it because its easier to drive? I can imagine that its maybe harder to "learn" the merc and bmw, but in the end they are faster?

I've been using the mustang gt4 in demo drive to get used to it and prepare for the mustang challenge, but I've been struggling to get consistently good or decent lap times. If anyone's got any tips for driving it or any gt4s then that'll be great

Hi everyone,
I’m brand new to iRacing—I only played ACC before this. I’ve just graduated from the Rookie class. Now iam in the Class D.
What would you recommend for the next step?
The Toyota GR86? Or the Ferrari 296 Challenge?
I want to stick with GT3s later on.
Do you have any recommendations? Including for Class C and B later down the line?
Thanks! 😊

I did my first online race last night and loved it. Was excited to race again today but we’re hit with emergency maintenance.
As someone who is very new, very much in rookie, and has only used the MX-5 online, what would be a good car to try that is used a lot in higher class races, and what track is good to learn while we have Demo Drive available?

Hello, I am upgrading to 1440p triples soon and am wondering what will be the bottleneck of my system; GPU or CPU. I have an Intel Core Ultra 7 2.4 GHZ, and was either going to get a 5070 vs a 5070ti GPU.
My question is, will my CPU bottleneck my system to the point where 5070ti vs 5070 is arbitrary? Is so I would prefer to just go with the cheaper 5070.

Hello!
Two questions.
Is there a way to force AI to use the same power level as you do? I go to the official M2 series and I click the race with AI button so it should be the same settings as the official races. But then when I’m driving the actual race with AI , on the straights they just F off into the distance as if they are using power level 5 and me using power level 1. How do I ensure we have the same power level?
Is there a way on garage 61 to tell what power level we’re using on any lap time result? I’m trying to compare myself to other drivers but I never can tell if they were using the same power level as me.
Thanks!

Qualified 8th and got hit by a turn 1 champion, but the car wasn’t too damaged.
Rejoined the race from the back and was having a good time passing all the snails trying to make the most of the situation. Pulled off the most satisfying lunge up the inside to reclaim a position that was taken from me while avoiding a crash.
Then, Poland’s finest showed up with a state of the art rejoin to end it all. The show goes on.

Trying to see if I did this correctly, I currently have a RS50 and the wheel outputs 8NM. Under wheel force I marked it at 8NM and then under strength I moved the slider to “43 8NM” which means that the game matches the output of my wheel to make it feel 100% accurate to FFB of car meaning it’s 1:1 scaling? Or am I getting this wrong?
I was originally playing with the slider all the way down and I was always wondering why iRacing felt like I was using powered steering with every car but now I’m down a rabbit hole with for feedback settings and I think I have it right where it’s at right now.

Have not raced on Bathurst much since I got on iRacing 2 months ago. It is my second favourite track in the world after the Nordschleife (might even become overall favorite by the end of the week). Did 2 GT3 race/ there last night - Regional APAC GT3 - and my god it is so good.
I have heard it’s an IR and SR grave. Personally, didn’t experience that (did lose IR one race but that’s cause I got an important call mid race). People were safe and respectful. It’s definitely anecdotal but I just loved driving there so much.
I am a little slow in the first and last sectors. But the entire mountain section is just my beloved. I remember being chased by a dude up until the Cutting, 0.7-0.8 behind. But during the mountain section, I felt like I was flying. On the edge the entire time. By the time we reach the chase, I am 1.5 ahead. Idk if I just know it well or the car characteristics suit it well (McLaren 720S). Did lose the position cause I messed up but man it was still so fun racing there.
Plus, I think this was my first 0 incident race - I left space and people left space, respect all around. Gained a healthy 0.7 SR and 70 IR.
It probably read like one, but yeah this is just a Bathurst glazing post.
