Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the shift in what high-net-worth travelers are actually looking for. For decades, "5-star luxury" has been synonymous with marble lobbies, uniformed doormen, ultra-standardized service, and flashy amenities.

Our property is the exact opposite of that: Stone walls from 1548, a river flowing right beneath the rooms, and gardens instead of concrete, Warm, genuine, and human service rather than cold, mechanical perfection. A place designed to unplug, reflect, and enjoy quiet gastronomy rather than "see and be seen."

While this quiet, authentic luxury deeply resonates with the guests who find us, breaking through the noise to reach new audiences remains a unique challenge.

Standard luxury marketing often relies on predictable visual codes (limousines, champagne towers, infinity pools), which simply don't align with an authentic, heritage-driven estate.

I’d love to get the community's take on this:

1. How are you communicating "unpretentious luxury" to potential guests without losing the prestige factor?
2. Where do modern, luxury travelers actually look today when they want to avoid cookie-cutter, corporate 5-star hotels?
3. If you run or market a boutique/heritage property, what non-traditional acquisition channels have worked best for you?

My gf is coming on 25 morning 8 her flight is at 5 at evening so she has to stay somewhere around 9am-12pm suggest me some good budget hotels around 500rs please good hotels for 3hrs only or some place where she can stay atleast in rain or walk please help ur help would be appreciated thankssss

I contacted support since breakfast wasn't provided at the hotel despite paying for it on my reservation. got connected to a supervisor after unsatisfied with the initial specialist. that supervisor then told me Ican submit reciepts of reimbursement with no limit and no restrictions. is this for real?

I literally asked if this means I can submit more than $1k of reimbursement and they would approve it. i'm a bit nervous because I don't wanna just blow away my money. any thoughts?

quoting the email from the supervisor:

"As I shared the process via chat I would like to share it by email, since the website says breakfast included and we confirmed with the hotel they don't offer we can refund the amount paid for the breakfast, we need a receipt from you for the amount paid for the breakfast and we are glad to refund as wrong information posted on the website.

Once the stay is completed reply this email with the receipt and a supervisor will be working on your request, keep in mind there is no limitation of the refund amount we can do since this is Expedia error posted wrong information we are going to refund the amount paid and you can send us all the receipts needed for us to refund the money, refund will take 7-10 business days to the original form of payment."

and quoting the same supervisor on the live chat:

"no limitation at all, this is our fault, no matter the amount paid we are going to refund and you can send all the receipt as possible to complete the process, once we get the receipt the refund will take 7-10 business days to get it."

"No other conditions [in reference to me asking if there are any terms/conditions], yes but we need to see the receipt you paid 1K USD for breakfast"

Hi I’m currently in the process of getting my apartment and because of the inspectors I am not able to move in for a couple days. If anyone knows a way to get a free/cheap room or has points they would be willing to help me with that would be amazing.

Serious safety incident

I was slammed by a faulty elevator in this hotel on May 30, 2026, causing several injuries. The company for which I work books many rooms in this and other NH hotels every day. This hotel is not taking any responsibility and has left the claim to Schindler SpA. Gino Giacchetti the general manager has offered a free 10euro breakfast buffet, one drink and an upgraded room if available for my 3 overnight stays this month. He no longer accepts my emails and has not accepted to meet me in person.This is not acceptable.

If you could automate one part of hotel operations using AI, what would it be and why? Front desk, housekeeping coordination, maintenance, guest communication, revenue management, or something else?

Hey y'all. I have a question about something that just rubbed me the wrong way.

My partner and I are staying at a fancy hotel in Texas. It's a 4-star and this is one of the first times we've been able to afford something like this, so it still feels like we're a little out place. Regardless, our stay has been fantastic and staff have been great. Until earlier today.

The front desk person (we hadn't seen him before) asked us if we had our room key for the elevator. Thought it was weird, but decided to let it go in my head. We come back down about an hour later to go meet friends for dinner. The same worker stops us in the middle of the lobby and asks, "Excuse me what was your hotel room number again?" Weird question, but I also couldn't remember it right away. My partner answers, and I ask him why. He said he was asking because he thought we ordered ice. He was carrying an ice bucket. When the valet pulls up our car, he also goes out to talk to him. I get in my head about it.

I thought about it on our way to dinner and I tell my friends how it rubbed me the wrong way. They tell me, HELL NAH the worker was wrong. We are people of color, so we all have experienced these situations in different circumstances.

When we come back from dinner, the same front desk person is there and I tell him that he made us uncomfortable by asking what our room number is since we were in the middle of the lobby, which is also an entrance to the hotel restaurant. He says he asked us because I left my card at the bar earlier, which I did, and that the bartender asked for our room number. It was she that wanted to know. I said okay fine, but the issue is safety and security. I didn't want to pull the race card because I don't know if that's the true issue and I know I lose credibility and people get defensive.

He doubled down that it was the bartender. But it doesn't make sense to us at all. He changed his story. So...idk. I hate complaining to the manager and as a newly able to afford treat yo self activities person, I still feel like I don't belong and maybe won't get no respect in this bougie hotel.

Is the whole saying the room number outloud in the lobby being a no no for hotel workers true? And is this something I should complain to management?
