Venting I need help with my family.

Hey im 14 im a guy. This morning I woke up to my mom yelling at me about being out of bed. 3 minutes later she yells at me again. Repeats like 2 more times. I decide to get up and take a shower. Because its the morning right? No my dad bangs on the door so hard it breaks open while I'm getting undressed. Thankfully i only had my shirt off. I am super disgusted how I have no sense of privacy in my home. I dont know if this relationship is normal. Nobody hits me often unless it gets really heated. I have a brother who is 15 and is going through the same stuff. He can be a jerk but at least he is relatable to the stuff I go through. And btw this whole fight was about how "selfish and inconsiderate" It was for not feeding the cats when I woke up instantly. Whenever my mom starts crying my dad gets really mad and can enforce stuff that he wouldn't usually do. We tried having a conversation but that was pointless because the topic was stupid. Later they blamed it on me being a teenager, and wouldn't get down to the point. Things like this happen 3 or 4 times a week over the dumbest things ever. I just need some reassurance that this isn't or is a normal relationship with my parents. Thank you for reading.

I am so lonely

Hey there, I don't know where else to go and I'm really desperate here. Throwaway account because my bf is on reddit sometimes. I am starving for connection. Like I feel so empty and lonely. My family all sucks, they are all wrapped up in themselves and they are super toxic and don't genuinely care. My boyfriend, I don't even know. He seems so spaced out all the time that he doesn't hear me half the time, he forgets to mention things to me then swears he told me, he just seems to have some portion of his mind elsewhere at all times and never fully present with me. I am struggling to get to a deeper level with him because its like pulling teeth trying to have a conversation deep enough to explore each other. But either way, and I don't have any friends. I spent 6 years with an abuser who didn't let me have friends, before that was 3 years with someone similar. Then from 2020 to April this year I was a really bad alcoholic. Now that I'm on the other side of things, I am so so desperate for a connection with someone. I want a best friend like I had in high school. I want to be someone's best friend. I want to be held of high importance to someone AND feel like I'm important to them. I've tried Discords and subreddits but nobody talks longer than a few messages then they never respond again. I know making friends takes time, but I'm so sad and lonely, especially since he works all the time. Yes I complain about him being spaced out but I know he loves me and I'm important, but I want connection with a friend too. Someone I can talk to about girl stuff that he doesn't care about. Someone to make inside jokes with and tell my funny stories and make awesome memories. I don't know what I'm expecting to get out of this. I'm not looking for pity messages or encouragement or anything like that, I don't know. I guess I just wanted to get it off my chest.

Venting What's wrong with me

Hi.

Without going into too much detail, I’ve been through a lot over the past 10 years that I probably haven’t been able to come to terms with.

I’m constantly trying to become a better person—someone I can be proud of, someone I can look at in the mirror without feeling ashamed of myself. I feel miserable in a way, but even I don’t understand why. Maybe it’s because I can’t seem to find my place in today’s society, but it’s eating me up from the inside, I tell myself. Damn it, i’m an adult, I’m over 25, and i still haven’t accomplished anything? Am i useless at everything? I fail at everything i try, and i struggle, really struggle, to make a living, to trust others, and also to love myself.

I’m not going to give a suicidal speech, to be honest, I don’t have the courage for that anyway. And it’s not part of my principles (my outlook on life). But I can still see that there’s something wrong with my behavior. I’m afraid of people; there are days when I eat until I feel sick, and others when I sleep all day. If I find a job, I stick with it for a while but then lose interest, and if I force myself to keep going, sooner or later I get comments about my behavior. (Don’t talk much, eat alone during breaks, avoid conversations, work slowly, etc.)

I just can’t do it, no, really, i just can’t. Ever since I was little, I’ve always been on the sidelines. There’s a bond of trust with people that’s gradually been broken through my experiences.

To be honest, for example, I couldn’t talk about this directly with people face-to-face. I’d feel uncomfortable, exposed, as if I were laid bare. I’d feel even more ridiculous.

I’m writing this to you, but I don’t even think things would get better, since I’ve been like this since I was little, and it’s gotten worse over time.

What’s strange is that when i get interested in something, like writing, for example, i put a tremendous amount of pressure on myself. Like: “You’re old now; if you want to accomplish something, do it right! Don’t waste any time!”

If I play video games for even just an hour, for example, I immediately start feeling this constant sense of guilt. “Well then? Weren’t you supposed to be writing? Aren’t you doing it anymore? Don’t you have confidence in yourself? Don’t you feel like it? Just do it.”

Except that this guilt is excessive; this pressure makes me do less than usual. I put enormous pressure on myself, even for ridiculous things.

Advice I got kicked out and don’t know what to do.

I [18F] got kicked out by my Father [50M] on July 16. Both my father and I are diagnosed with Autism ADHD and Depression. I’m currently unemployed but am actively looking for a job.

I’d been living with him for around 18 months and we’d been fighting off and on a lot over the previous weeks, mostly about small things like chores. Fights with him usually end with him making some type of remark about how I’m not acting as grateful to him anymore as I used to when he let me move in with him after running away/moving out of my mother’s house. (She’s abusive and my parents are divorced)

Recently he’s also been saying a lot of things about women being evil, talking about how all they want is to manipulate men and ruin their lives. And that women use their feminine privilege to get everything they want and that feminism means women want to eradicate all men, he would usually end these speeches with a comment about how I’m the worst of all the women because I try to change him. This is generally unusual behaviour for my dad, he is usually a kind and calm person.

The day he kicked me out we had a small fight. I had called out to him to get his attention because I wanted to ask if he’d prefer me to bake pie or muffins. (We’d gotten more blueberries than we’d be able to eat so I thought I’d bake and freeze some treats for later) he yelled at me that I was being lazy and making problems for him and that I am an entitled brat. I snapped and called him a whiny cunt. (I should not have done this, I way overreacted and I really regret saying it). In response he told me to take my stuff and find somewhere else to live.

I packed a small bag and have since been staying with a friend. I saw my dad again for the first time yesterday (we had an appointment doing intake for a social program for neural divergent youth meant to help build life skills.) he seemed almost proud as he told the facilitators that he’d kicked me out. He left a few minutes after I explained the situation to them. They gave me a bag of some shelf stable food items and a few things like shampoo and sunscreen.

Right now I’m couch surfing at my friend’s house, I don’t know how long it will last but at least I’m not on the street. If anyone has advice I’d be grateful.
