Work permit-Green card application

Hello, Iam new here so would like some help. Recently filed(07/22) Green card application (marriage based) and H1b expires 09/02.
The uscis website says work permit/change of status takes 12 months.
Iam a lil stressed out thinking about how will i survive without working for a full year mentally (coz i love my job, architect) and potentially financially (when the savings run out)
Has anybody else gone through this process? And what did they rely on.
I know my spouse would wanna help but I think iam too independent to take the help.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Concurrent filing timeline

Hi everyone! I see a lot of posts about timeline for i-485 approval but wasn’t sure what the current trends are looking like if you filed i-140 and i-485 concurrently. Any insights would be helpful! Applied end of June 2026, EB2, ROW, August 2024 priority date, no premium processing.

Traveling internationally and re-entering the US with expired GC + Extension letter?

My wife and I have a trip to Vietnam planned for mid-August for 5 weeks, and we're looking for recent first-hand experiences from anyone in a similar situation. LAX Airport.

I'm a U.S. citizen, and my wife has:

An expired 2-year conditional green card

A valid 48-month extension letter (valid until March 2028)

A pending I-751 (Removal of Conditions) filed in January 2024

No criminal record or immigration violations

We've recently seen reports and social media posts claiming that international travel is becoming riskier for people with pending I-751 applications. One immigration attorney on Facebook said:

Case 1: If you have an expired 10-year green card with a pending renewal, travel is generally fine.

Case 2: If you have an expired 2-year conditional green card with a pending I-751, international travel is much riskier, and many attorneys are advising against it, especially right now.

We're trying to determine whether this reflects what's actually happening at U.S. ports of entry.

Has anyone with a pending I-751 traveled internationally and returned to the U.S. within the last couple of weeks? If so:

Were you sent to secondary inspection? What if you don't speak English?

How long did it take?

Did CBP ask for anything beyond your passport, expired green card, and extension letter?

Did you encounter any issues being admitted?

We've been married for five years, have lived together continuously, file taxes jointly, share bank accounts, and she has a clean record.

She, as well as our family and relatives, are extremely worried about the possibility of running into any issues when returning to the U.S. Any recent first-hand experiences or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I need help

I have a pending VAWA I-360 and I-485 with USCIS. I was in an abusive relationship with my spouse, we are divorced.
Currently, I am in a perfect relationship with my partner, and we are planning to get married. I know once I am married my VAWA will be cancelled. Can I apply for I-130 and I-485 for a marriage-based GC?

Has anyone been in such a situation and still gotten a GC? Kindly share also good advice is welcome
