I recently grew ground cherries for the first time. I love the way the plants look. They are so pretty and so soft, but I recently learned that we don't like the way they taste. This has never happened to me before. I have never grown a vegetable, fruit, or edible plant in my garden that I haven't liked. I am considering ripping the plants out so I can get a second chance at a harvest before the end of the season. They are humongous plants, about 4 square feet per plant. They are lush and gorgeous. We have had such a successful rain year this year, and I have not had so much success in my garden before. I am harvesting so many of these nasty little fruits that no one in my family will eat. Myself included. I still love looking at them, but the thought of them taking up so much space, when I could be growing more peppers, zucchini, or other crops that my family will eat has me feeling like I need to conserve the space and remove the plants that aren't bearing fruit that we want.

Asparagus beetles are red with white spots that feed, breed and lay eggs exclusively on the asparagus plant.

They're easy enough to see on the asparagus, and I decimated the horde by tapping them into a plastic, wide-mouthed sports drink bottle.

The stragglers were captured the rest over the following days, and haven't seen any eggs, grubs or adults inaround five days!

Is there anything I can do to improve the health of the plant? Some of it is browning. Do I need to pick some of the less healthy leaves? Is the mulch hurting it? We recently had to trim some dead tree branches so it is probably getting more sunlight than it is used to. Also do I need to relocate the tiny aloe that is growing behind it? It has been getting plenty of rain recently. Any help appreciated.

I planted a small flower garden in my front entryway. First time I've ever grown flowers and it has made me so happy! Everytime I come home or leave I love seeing my little garden. Today I had a visitor and wanted to share!

I got a cucumber seedling earlier this summer and it grew exceptionally well at first. It produced a few cucumbers that were tasty by late June.

However, the plant has struggled to produce cucumbers recently. A timeline and notes:

- There was a heatwave for a while and it did not get much water while I was out of town for a few days. It was pretty wrecked when I got back. It bounced back but I suspect things could have started going downhill here, as it’s leaves never returned to their original deep green that usually signals good health.

- After it healed I arranged it so it would grow upward on one of those metal tomato supports as it was taking up a ton of space in the cage I have.

- The soil does not seem to be drying out. I am not overwatering it, it just doesn’t seem to soak up the water like my other plants anymore. I’ve poked some holes in the soil and drilled some of the side of the pot to increase airflow, but there have also been some intense rains. It makes me wonder if something is wrong with the roots, as all my other plants need to be watered every 1-2 days. It has yellowing leaves on the bottom.

- The plant has been producing cucumbers, there are probably 10 now over the plant, but they typically grow to the size of a small pinky then die out.

Any help here is welcome! I attached some pictures of the plant now, and when it was wrecked by the heat/lack of water

I had tomatoes that were struggling, and I just removed the yellow leaves, repotted them with more soil in a bigger pot, and they are happy. However as I understand it cucumbers are more sensitive so this is not an option.

I've lived in my house for 12 years. Never had issues with my neighbors. We'd chat over the fence, borrow each other's tools, the whole friendly neighborhood thing

And then they built a fence, an extremely tall fence… wooden and right next to the border

It may look great on their side. But on mine? Well, it's a fence. An enormous wooden fence that prevents the sun from reaching my garden. My tomatoes are suffering. My living room is dark. To be honest, I feel like I live in a cave

I have tried to talk to them. I knocked at their door, was polite, described the problem to them. I even offered them to design the fence with some holes in it. And they said pretty much nothing can be done about it since it is on their property

I’m not sleeping well lately and I'm so frustrated because of that!

I went to Sterling Legal, the law firm that deals with property-related issues. I was thinking of contacting them but afraid of what may happen when lawyers get involved

Has anyone gone through such an experience? How did you manage to resolve it without going to court?

I do not feel comfortable telling a judge about dying tomatoes, but then again I cannot just give up on my sun!

Any idea why zucchini leaves would suddenly start to yellow?

These plants were giving us a bunch of squash to start, but the rate has really dwindled in the past week and the leaves have started to yellow a bit.

I fertilized them with bone meal and all purpose organic fertilizer. I’ve also been pruning the lower leaves as they grow.

Some have shown slight signs of powdery mildew, but not too bad. We also just had a big heatwave? But they were getting fairly consistent water.

Located in Los Angeles, and would appreciate any advice!

I don't think this is a pumpkin. It was never green, very soft skin (almost like a yellow squash). The plant next door is a butternut squash, can cross pollination cause this?

I just saw a bunch of these guys on one of our tomato plants. Does anybody know what they are? And they might be two different kinds of bugs from the look of them.

Was moving a couple stone patio slabs/tiles and these were under one of them. They are slightly smaller than a pea. I didn't touch them so I dont know their consistency. Found in 7b
