Salthill shop refused injunction preventing sale of frozen fruit tubs from kiosk 350m away

"Judge Siobhan Stack said the contract between the parties “was not terribly clear”, but the balance of convenience favoured not granting an injunction.

She said an injunction would have meant shutting down part of the kiosk business at the busiest time of the year for such outlets.

Blackrock Cottage was also not able to show there was any threat to its business and no evidence of books and records was presented to show a catastrophic or even very serious effect on the business from the kiosk, she said.

The judge also said there was a complete dispute between the parties about the meaning of the agreement between them and that would be a matter for the hearing of the full case."

Missing Cat

Lulu has been missing from the Galway, Salthill, Alderbrook, Rockbarton Road area, since 21st July. She is an older tuxedo/ black & white cat. Responds to her name and loves treats, especially dreamies. She is quite small, likes people but might be afraid. She is microchipped. Any sightings of her at all would be hugely appreciated as we just want to know what has happened to her. Phone number is 0851498499. Call or text anytime.

Stira

I’ve been given a stira from my next door neighbour, exact same house so no issue with sizing. Looking to get it fitted, any suggestions we’re in the Knocknacarra area? Tia

Where's the spot to get a feed that isn't greasy or expensive?

I'm a large guy and eat a lot. For takeaway / eating out there aren't many options to get a large feed for cheap, unless it's greasy fried food. And even that is pretty expensive now.

Where can I get a massive meal without breaking the bank?

Minor Auto Electrical Job

I've an issue with one of my break lights. Intermittent, so probably a damages wire. Opened it up myself but couldn't spot the issue.

Two local mechanics said too busy or too small a job.

Auto Electric said not taking any bookings.

Galway Auto Electrical no answer.

Halfords won't do wiring fix - just light replacement.

Does anyone know a mechanic, auto electrician, or even a cowboy who'd do the job?!

Recommendations for wild camping locations within an hour or so of the city?

Edit: DMs are open

Some semi-regular campers here who ALWAYS clean up after ourselves and leave it as we found it, and don't play loud music (or any actually).

Our preferred places are a little too far away for a single night.

All suggestions appreciated, thank you.

Horse Riding in Galway/Connemara

Hi, I am coming to Galway in a few weeks and would love to go horse riding.I would appreciate any recommendations for where to go for either a trek or beach ride with really nice scenery. I would also be up for any other horse experience if any of the stables provide something interesting. I will be staying in Galway city centre but dont mind travelling for it or staying a night somewhere else. Thank you!

Galway Then vs. Now

Seeing the post with the old photos of Galway reminded me of when I went around to try and match the perspective of the old photos with new.

The original photos were on display in the Galway museum so I had to take pictures of the pictures on the wall, then I went around with my phone and camera and tried to match the perspective and blend the two together.

I don't have to original files any more so I'm afraid I cant remove the obnoxious water mark.

For the last picture I asked the guys in the Galway camera shop to let me upstairs to get the right angle.

Late night wedding photography

Hiya, just thought I'd cast my net here because this page has been helpful in wedding planning thus far. My fiance and I are getting married in August at the Galway Bay Hotel. We have our photographer booked for the day but they really only stay for the first 30-45 mins of the dance floor. We were wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a late night photographer that would be able to get shots of the dance floor and the craic that goes on later in the day. We were thinking something similar to the likes of pub photographers, though we know those tend to be in-house. Really appreciate any suggestions people have :)

Resources for rape victim in Galway

Hello,
I’m not from Ireland so please forgive me if this is obvious. I was recently raped and am on the waitlist for counseling at the GRCC. However I’m not really sure what other resources there are available to me. My mental health is in the toilet, I have friends here but I don’t want to constantly be a downer on them, and my family is really far away. I feel very alone and would like help or advice. It doesn’t even specifically have to be for rape but any sort of mental health resource or even just something that could make me laugh / feel safe / cozy would be much appreciated.

Dashcam footage wanted:puppy killed on Monivea Road (Monday 11:50–12:35)

We're looking for anyone who may have dashcam footage from the Monivea Road (R339) particularly near Lafferty's Pub / FT Fuels, between 11:50 am and 12:35 pm on Monday.

Our little white Spitz puppy escaped from home and was sadly struck and killed by a vehicle.

We're not looking to blame or sue anyone. We simply want to know what happened in his final moment 😔 Not knowing has been incredibly difficult, and we're hoping someone may have footage that could give us some answers.

If you were driving through the area during that time, we'd really appreciate it if you could check your dashcam, even if you don't remember seeing anything unusual.

Any footage from that time could be helpful 🥺

ETA: Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to comment. We've seen the discussions about liability, as well as the concerns about whether we'd really want to see the footage.

This post wasn't intended to be a complete account of what happened (which would require all of the facts before questions of fault or legal responsibility could be determined) It was merely an appeal in case someone has dashcam footage from that time and location.

We have thought long and hard about whether we'd want to see it and decided that, for us, not knowing is harder than knowing.

We're reading these comments while grieving the sudden loss of our puppy, so we're not going to get into a debate about liability. At the end of the day we're just trying to understand what happened.

Google maps giving weird directions

Post image

I always have Google maps on whenever I’m driving somewhere. I was driving towards spideal yesterday and it keeps giving weird directions. Like it turned a 5 min drive into a 25 min drive. It seems to be avoiding using the R336 road for some reason.

I don’t have any the “Avoid” options turned on btw

Mental health post

Hi guys,

I feel a bit pathetic posting this.

I have severe mental health issues and I don't work because I don't actually care about what happens to me (most of the time)

But I'm just asking to see if there are any free therapies available for someone like me.

I don't have money to pay for 80 euro sessions for therapy.

I was also referred to St. Pats in Dublin by my GP but found out that my insurance doesn't cover it.

My parents have said that they would give me the money to be admitted and "Just pay them back over the course of my life" but I am someone who cannot accept that sort of money, knowing that if they needed the money for something more serious, and if they gave to me well then I would feel like a scumbag for taking their money.

I just want to say I think I need a lot of help and it pains me to be asking for services that are free of charge or highly subsidised.

If anyone reads this, thank you 🙂
