📍 MEGATHREAD Custom Charges Alternative Websites.

Hi all,

Given the new EU custom charges are rolling out today and many of the websites we use for things like clothes, electronics and household goods ship from the UK, even if many of them have a .ie web address, we thought it would be a good idea to have a list of alternative sites from within the EU.

So if you have found an online marketplace thats good value and which ships from the EU list them here.

Moaning Michael How bad have these kids gotten?

I was washing my car in Circle K Ballymun, using the hand wash.

These 2 kids come up behind me and say “gimme a go” while grabbing the jet wash out of my hand. I say “no thanks” and they then start grabbing the brush to hit my car and then pressing the different wash mode buttons. All this while wrestling the jet wash out of my hands and trying to damage my car.

I eventually get them to leave but they come back and start throwing rocks at me and my car…

They then proceed to start running through the automatic wash and mess with other peoples cars.

Where are their parents? So sad to see the future generation acting that way. No respect whatsoever.

Misery Call me crazy but is there an astroturfing campaign against Ireland online?

Call me perpetually online or whatever, but I see a lot of falsehoods and bad faith arguments being made about Ireland online on Reddit and Twitter, mainly posters arguing that Ireland is either antisemitic, was pro-Nazi in WW2, or just that we hate the Brits and all want to invade Northern Ireland to 'take what's ours'.

Bit of a coincidence, considering we aren't on great terms with a certain Middles Eastern planter nation at the moment...

A Redditor Went Outside Public Transportation in Ireland can be quite daunting

Upvotes

I’m autistic, I have bad social anxiety and I get nervous in crowds but I drown them out with my earbuds and play some music to cope, especially with the noise.

I met this girl online a while back and we hit it off really well, we both like each other but she lives nearly 3 hours away by car, and 5+ hours by public transport. I don’t have a car yet so I took the long way to finally meet her in person for a date. I left at 7:10am and during my travels took 3 buses and a dart to my destination. It was my first time doing solo travel and it was pretty nerve-wracking in case I missed the bus or dart. I finally arrived though, and we both had a nice date!

Go on ya good thing Free Problem Gambling Support: a positive story

I've just finished a course of counselling with Dunlewey Addiction Services for Problem Gambling.

I'm so proud to say I'm now 3 months Gamble-Free.

Sharing the link, in the hopes that it may help someone else. They really have helped me.

I'll post in the comments!

Update: to add more context. I am an early thirties, female. Great job. Happy life. But online slot games absolutely had me in a chokehold. Spending way more than I could afford a day. Pretending like it was Monopoly money. When you start saying to yourself "I'll put in another €X and win it back" or "I'll withdraw the money when I get to €X" you REALLY need to stop.
