Love the feel of the Z Fold 8; it's the perfect phone if the Z Trifold didn't exist.

Now I'm in. This is by far my biggest reason to upgrade.

Battery life? Cool. Less cameras than previous generations unless you pay more for the ultra edition, thinner more awkward handling of a tablet which I'd rather have a confident grip on, and NO S-PEN when you had the chance to make THE PERFECT HYBRID PHONE with ACTUAL function that high-end tablets have. But look... AI features that aren't unique to the fold! Genuinely sticking with my fold 6 until I switch to a more understanding and competent brand. I've heard great reviews for others.

This year's innovation was kinda underwhelming. I get why some people would love the Fold 8's new form factor, but you're paying a premium for what feels like pretty average spec upgrades. The Fold 8 Ultra looks great, but the improvements over the previous generation are getting smaller and smaller.

It kinda sucks seeing tiny upgrades come with huge price increases. I know it's RAMageddon and they probably had to make some compromises, but I wish they made up for it with more meaningful hardware improvements (or an S-pen at least).

Still not sure if I'm preordering, but can't wait for the Fold 9 leaks to start showing up on this sub lol

I love how spacious and vast the gallery app looks here. I'll be able to go through my albums and view my saved images and videos in a more immersive way.

I've found two sources saying that the wide Z Fold 8 does not support Flex mode at all (unlike Z Fold 8 Ultra & Z Flip 8), and the hinge cannot be freely adjusted. If that's true than this is a major bummer for me, that I haven't seen people talk much about yet.

Does anyone have videos that show more precisely the possible hinge angles for the wide Z Fold 8?

Both devices are extremely well made and the crease is gone! literally cant even feel it with your fingers. Inner screen on both look so much better now that reflections are mostly gone, seems to take less fingerprints too

i played around with both phones and even in best buy the wides camera was clearly not as good. the ai zoom correction was pretty nice though!

Basically when opened, videos and movies are the same size - you just have less screen on the wide so less bars. But you dont get any extra video which is kinda crazy.

I decided on the wide the second it was confirmed and preordered it this morning.

Unfortunately after holding both, briefly playing with them and factoring in the costs there is just no way you would want the wide UNLESS the form factor is your only decision. Just the thought of paying close to 2k for all the compromises the wide has vs paying $300 more for the ultra....its just hard to take.

Again, 15 minutes is not enough time to truly understand the nuances but it was a pretty big eye opener to have them side by side.

ALSO BIG BIG - the wide does not have a flex hinge. it is either open or closed. You can manually force flex mode but there really is no point since there is no way to have the phone stay half open/closed

They don't do anything about the stereo speaker of the 8 wide. The wide has stereo* speakers on the top half of the screen, so when you open it up to watch videos, both speakers are on the left side of the screen.

It was never a problem with any z fold series before because you always want to rotate the phone sideways but this wide form factor doesn't need to rotate.

So the 8 wide is good for watching videos only if you use headphones. I think it kinda defeats the purpose of having a fold that opens to a wide screen

I thought iPhone Air single speaker was bad design, but look at the 8 wide, Dual speakers on the same side of the screen

Just smaller black bars between the 8 and ultra, and no s-pen. So fucking disappointed. The Samsung store staff are all commiserating me!!!

Sticking with my 6 I think, and then over to Honour Magic V6. You lost me Samsung :(

the normal 8 aint even on my radar. I hate the fat form factor.

the only thing the 8 does better is the cameras...thats it...i couldnt give a toss about the thinness.

still no pen, and with a painful holepunch on the inner screen. and now with a addee price hike due to shortages from the AI boom..

so..

whats supposed to be my hook, Samsung??? this phone does more, and i do a lot more then video on mine and dont have a gnarly hole punch in my very expensive screen.

I also managed to get my hands on the new foldable phones!

Folks have migrated from my iPhone 16 Pro Max to my Galaxy Fold 7... I really would like to know if worth get a new Pixel Fold model than Galaxy Fold 8. My impression is that Galaxy bring a lot of Samsung apps that i don't like at all.

I would like to hear from you, your opinions. Why should I move to Fold8 or Pixel
