Why donāt more people talk about American Music Club?
(Attached is in my opinion one of the best folk songs ever) I wish I saw more people bring up AMC/Mark Eitzel when recommending folk to others. Eitzelās vocals are so unique and he is very good at storytelling. āHeaven of Your Handsā is such a beautiful and bittersweet song. Go to 2:20 and let the song ride outā¦I promise it will invoke such a melancholy feeling within you (or just listen entirely from the start itās all amazing)

Released a new folk song?
I'd love to hear it.
I'm always looking for independent folk artists and original music I haven't discovered yet.
If you've released something recently, send it my way:

Can anyone explain me whats so good about folk?
I mean no harm, but rather genuine concern. I just never understood it, and I feel soo like missing out because there are some great folk albums like The Glow Pt. 2 or In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. Is it the lyrics? I mean I never read them, or what is it?

What are your favorite songs inspired by Bachās BourrĆ©e?
I'm curious what songs people know that are based on, borrowed from, compared with, or inspired by Bach's Bourree.
The obvious one is Jethro Tull's Bouree, but I'm interested in others too. Folk-rock, prog, jazz, metal, acoustic versions, anything where you can hear some connection to that old Bach tune.
A few examples I've come across are:
- Blackbird by The Beatles
- Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
- Rock Your Socks by Tenacious D
- Jenny Wren by Paul McCartney
- Wayward One by Alter Bridge
Some of these are direct, some are looser, and some are more "you can hear the family resemblance" than straight borrowing.
What are your favorites?
- Are there versions more people should hear?
- And did you first come to the tune through Bach, Jethro Tull, or something else?
I wrote up some thoughts and collected examples of the songs above and a few more here, if anyone wants more. I'll add the songs mentioned here as well, so please suggest more (including you own):

When a Tiny Bridge Keeps Two Lovers Apart ā A Belarusian Folk Song
tiny wooden bridge washed over by water, two lovers unable to meet, and a simple folk song that has survived for generations. One of the most beautiful images in Belarusian folklore.
Kladachka (āThe Little Bridgeā) is a traditional Belarusian folk song.
