I'm not yet certain this is an issue with 153, but my keyboard just locked up with no ability to type or change anything. Touchpad similarly disabled. The only program open at the time was firefox. I had to power down and back up to clear it. I have never seen this before.

I've been experience this very persistent and annoying bug(?) Where out of nowhere, the page will go blank and refreshing the page doesn't fix it. More often than not, I'll just open up another tab just to bypass it, but even then sometimes that tab will be blank just the same as the first so I'll having to just open 2 or 3 extra tabs until it just decides to stop blanking out on me. The main websites I visit are usually just YouTube and Twitch, so it may have something to do with video streaming sites, but I'm not entirely sure as I don't visit many other sites on this device. The tab will often continue running in the background, but the page will remain blank and I can't seem to do anything to reverse it.

Hey folks, right now im using Speed Dial 2 as new tab. It was my goto on chrome, it is my goto on firefox and you can migrate everything without premium plan. But as far as im aware Speed Dial 2 is not supported on mobile and i would like a completely free alternative that works on mobile and desktop, and it must have some kind of sync (of course automatic one using mozila's service would be awesome).

So any suggestions?

I'm having a frustrating issue with Firefox on Windows 11 and I hope someone can help me figure this out.

The problem:
I only receive desktop notifications from YouTube. For Reddit, Vinted, and other sites, I get nothing – even though they are set to "Allow" in the Firefox notification settings.

What I've already tried (and still doesn't work):

• Added the sites to Firefox notification settings and set them to "Allow" (under Privacy & Security → Permissions → Notifications).
• Changed alerts.useSystemBackend to true in about:config and restarted Firefox.
• Checked Windows Settings → System → Notifications – Firefox is enabled and allowed to send notifications.
• Restarted my laptop several times.
• Checked if any "Focus Mode" or "Do Not Disturb" setting in Windows is blocking them – nothing.
• Made sure the "Block new requests" checkbox in Firefox notification settings is unchecked.
• The sites are set to "Allow" in Firefox and also in the site-specific permissions (via the lock icon in the address bar).

The strange part:
YouTube works perfectly. But for Reddit and Vinted, even though Firefox says they're allowed, no notification ever appears on my desktop. I even tested with a generic notification tester website – and got nothing.

My question:
Is there some hidden Firefox setting I'm missing? Could it be related to the Enhanced Tracking Protection? Or is there something wrong with how Windows handles notifications for specific sites?

I've spent hours trying to fix this – any help would be really appreciated! 🙏

Firefox changed something recently with "most visited" and I'm finding it REALLY annoying.

I have my home page set up with 4 rows of my most visited sites. For years its worked flawlessly.

As of a recent update though, now it adds random sites/urls that I've only visited once or twice, and adds them in my top row. I have to dismiss them as they appear, otherwise the list would be all messed up.

Example, if I click a random link to a picture on reddit, it will now show up in the first row of "most visited", ahead of other sites/urls that I visit multiple times a day.

Anyone else having this happen? Any suggestions to fix?

I'm not sure if this was caused by a recent Firefox update or if I accidentally changed a setting.

I attached a video showing the before and after.

Previously, when I hovered over the collapsed sidebar, it would expand with a smooth animation. The transition felt fluid, and when I moved the mouse away, it would collapse smoothly again.

Now it feels much more abrupt. Instead of smoothly expanding, it just snaps open, making the whole interaction feel less polished. I still have "Expand sidebar on hover" enabled, but it doesn't behave the same way anymore.

I also noticed that the sidebar now has a dark gray background, whereas before it remained translucent, matching the top toolbar. The old look felt much more consistent with the rest of the UI.

Did Firefox change this behavior in a recent update, or did I accidentally change some setting? If it's the latter, is there a way to restore the previous behavior?

Hi there - a recent change in Firefox is proving to be a bit vexing.

Working with Quickbooks online (QBO), I like to print a physical copy of each invoice for our records. QBO generates a PDF page, which opens a new tab in Firefox. Previously, I could hit Ctrl + P, and it would open the print dialogue, and then I could print the invoice exactly as generated in QBO. Now, within the recent 3 months, using Ctrl + P, the documents margins are increased a bit, the PDF URL is included in the upper right margin, the title in the Upper left, the date and time in the bottom margin, and a second blank page with the same header and footer is created and printed off, resulting in a mostly blank page with headers that is unnecessary and annoying.

When I don't use the hotkey and click the print option in the upper right hand of the PDF viewer in Firefox though, I can print the PDF as generated, without the URL or title in the margins/header, footer. For doing multiple pages, the hotkey is very convenient, as many of you know.

Any ideas what could be causing the discrepancy between CTrl P and the PDF viewer button?

On a Windows 10 PC, with Uline and Privacy badger extensions.

Once every like 10 attempts it is immediate.

Since the upgrade from 152.0.x to 153, the forward and back mouse buttons no longer work in Firefox. This only affects Firefox, the forward and back buttons work in all other browsers and Windows explorer.

mousebutton.4th.enabled and mousebutton.5th.enabled are set to true, but I have toggled them to false and restarted Firefox with no change. The are currently toggled back to true with a Firefox restart once again.

Restarted Firefox in safe mode with no change, creating a new temporary profile made no change.

The forward button on the mouse opens the View menu like Alt-v was hit on the keyboard. The back button appears to do nothing.

Any ideas?? TIA!!

I used firefox from 2020/2021 and back there i didnt really like the browser that much, i had an old HP Laptop from 2009 running Windows 10 at the time, firefox lagged a lot and like in march of 2021 i went to chrome and used until august of 2022 when i got my new laptop i used Chrome there for a month and then i saw the Opera GX ads on youtube that said “opera gx is a gaming browser” and i installed and liked and i used for like 4 years. Back there i installed whatever browser people suggested, now i regret that.

So why i changed to Firefox? I saw some allegations about opera gx being a spyware and owned by a chinese company, and i changed to opera gx as some friends of mine told me that was very good now than 2021, and i installed, moved my stuff to there, and i realized that is so much better and so much smoother than the browser i used, and had more personalization options than opera, i personalized it, installed some extensions that i use and i realized, the cause of firefox being super bugged and laggy in 2021 was because of the pc i used there, now with a even powerful machine i use it with no problems and not of any of those things that i had, also i have lots of laptops, that i use, installed firefox there and logged into my Mozilla account and it started downloading all my personalization settings, extensions, everything!

Of course, there are many features different of opera but i learned how to use them. And i finally can say this was the best decision ever, switch from a supposed “gaming browser” to an real, trusted browser.

UI is glitching heavily all over the place, and it's almost useless. The screenshot is from me opening an incognito window. The closer you watch, the weirder it gets.

So Youtube logo started suddenly looking like this a few weeks ago. It's only like this on firefox browser on desktop and clearing the cache does not fix it. The only other post i've seen about this is https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/1upztsf/youtube_logo_whitegone/ .

Has anyone figured how to revert it back or will I have to live with it?

Hello, all. It's been an issue for a couple of months now.

Looped YouTube videos do not stop buffering until I click anywhere on the timeline. Clicking anywhere on the timeline fixes the buffering and the video proceeds normally.

With all cookies and site data cleared and uBlock Origin disabled, it still happens.

According to the YouTube stats, there is 0 KB of network activity and 0.01s of buffer health when it happens. There are 0 dropped frames.

I watch videos on 1440p, if the option is available.

uBlock Origin and Enhancer for YouTube are two of the add-ons I always use.

I've been testing it out on this HDR video., but it happens on SDR videos as well. I like looped videos that contain multiple songs within a single video.

How come this happens and how can I fix this?

EDIT: I went back to Bonjourr and with some of my sloppy CSS I was able to replicate what I actually want. It would be nice if Firefox would just make a simple switch for it.

I am on Windows 11.

Just moved back to Firefox after using Chrome for the past 15 or so years. I like the shortcuts in Chrome on a blank tab because it gets me to the sites I need quick.

Firefox has the same thing but it just keeps filling with nonsense.

I have dug around other forums and have changed a half dozen different settings in the about:config but nothing has stopped it yet.

I have also tried a couple of extensions like New Tab Tools and a couple others but they either look terrible or don't do what I want.

I don't want to turn off my history as I use it quite often. I like the shortcuts so I also don't want to turn that off.

I just want 8 shortcuts on a blank new tab page and not the other 16 that are just recent random sites I have gone to. What is worse is the random shortcuts start bumping my pinned shortcuts which is weird that I can pin them if they are just going to get bumped around.

This has to be possible right? It is such a weird design to have my new tab filled with random news stories that I have already read, I don't plan to read them again and don't need a shortcut automatically created for them.

Everything else with the move has been great, finding a lot of different things that I didn't have in Chrome that I really like. BUT, every time I open a new tab it is like nails on a chalkboard for my eyes.

Can anyone using Flightradar24 on Firefox tell me if the cursor is still showing correctly when moving it across the map.

The cursor is only showing as the “hand” cursor, not the pointer. I can't select a flight. When I move the cursor across the map, the cursor remains as a "hand" regardless of where I am, even hovering over an aircraft. When the "hand" cursor clicks on an aircraft icon, all it does is toggle the map controls.

Tried Troubleshoot mode to no avail.

Latest Firefox version under MacOS.

Safari works fine.

I can join a google meet call, then for 5 seconds i can hear the audio, but then it just goes mute making me then have to join on my phone. I thought it was my uBlock origin extension, but i disabled it and it still happens. Here are the other extensions I use.

I have been using Firefox since the very beginning. I switched from Netscape to Firefox back then and never really had any major problems.

However, since the latest update, which was supposedly meant to fix stability issues, Firefox keeps freezing on my PC.

It usually happens when I drag a tab out to open it in a new window or move a tab to another monitor. But it is not consistent. Sometimes it also freezes when I minimize or maximize the window, open a new tab, or try to load a website in a new empty tab.

Sometimes all tabs suddenly turn blank and Firefox freezes. Other times the tabs remain visible, but the browser still becomes completely unresponsive.

I have already disabled all extensions, but they do not seem to be the cause. The problem still occurs.

So far, this only happens on one PC. I have not experienced it on my laptop or work computer.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a known solution?

My machine updated to Firefox 153 this morning and since updating it’s not been able to open, I’ve created a new profile, tried booting into safe mode, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but it’s not opening.

The event viewer shows that it’s not being able to open because of microsoft.ui.windowing.core.dll.

Has something changed that requires this? I’ve not been able to find anything about this, I’ve got another machine on 152.0.6 and I’m not wanting to update to 153 just incase it crashes again.

Any ideas?

Trying to block a few websites. I tried with AdGuard’s filters, and while it works with some of the simpler website, I can’t manage to block YouTube and Instagram.

Is there a free or cheap (JFC subscriptions are everywhere) app or extension I could use?

For what it’s worth I’m on macOS.

Basically the title. After the update to 153 version, as soon I click clear recent last hour history, the browser freezes and crashes. After opening the browser again, all my active sessions/logins in Gmail, Notion, basically everything is reset and I have log in again. Not sure how this version was pushed to public with such bug.
