I really like neutron stars, but when they're so crazy, it still scares me

Also, it's quite interesting that M-star is 11 ls close to neutron star that has 8 million K on the surface. I'm pretty sure this lil M-fella doesn't feel well with such a neighbour.

P. S. It's in the system Col 89 Sector KC-L d8-39 if you're interested.

Elite Dangerous' Greatest Community Story (Enigma Expedition), now updated after 8 years :)

Years ago, I followed the Enigma Expedition in Elite Dangerous, where hundreds of commanders came together to help CMDR DoveEnigma13 reach Colonia during his battle with terminal cancer.

While revisiting the story recently, I discovered an unexpected update that made the story even more meaningful: A Second Miracle.

So, I ended up creating a narrated cinematic video telling the full story, using Elite Dangerous scenery, music and ambiance, and footage from the event and location.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDFsTvMT50U

Hope you enjoy!
And if you can, any feedback is appreciated.

Should I grind for a higher grade Artemis suit? I am in Colonia

I just arrived in Colonia earlier today (after a few hiccups). Is it worth unlocking the suit engineers here or is the standard Artemis suit fine for Exo? I plan on leaving soon for Sag A, then on to explore. I am somewhat confused about the suit situation as I know very little about it to be honest. Thanks!

Review on my Caspian exploration and exobio ship

Can I get some tips and recommendations for this Caspian exploration and exobio build I am putting together?
https://edsy.org/#/L=Jl00000X0C0S40,,DCYH05L_W0DCYH05L_W0DCYH05L_W0DCYH05L_W0CjwH05G_W0CjwH05G_W0,9p8H05I_W0A72H07K_W0AQGG05I_W0AiaG05J_W0AtyG03G_W0B98G05J_W0BRuG03G_W0BeE10,,53c100PAA00PAA01rq307SlH03K_W034a1008c10072B0072B06hC201IM300nF400nG402jwG-fG001P000,test,test

I am honestly quite happy with it but would like some opinions before putting it together.

I'm using prismatics for extra shields just in case of accidents. I was happy with the trade off to thermals and jump range for it.

Fighter hanger is a place holder for the nomad.

Two AFMUs because I have nothing else to use with these other slots.

Took inspiration from tips I read on this sub reddit the other day about another person's post.

Edit: Thank you for all the help! Thanks to the tips I got from this post here is the updated build.

Please help regarding spansh route plot to Colonia via neutron highway (Casp Exp)

I'm currently en route to Colonia via the neutron highway.
I've plotted the route via spansh but for some reason, the max supercharged jump distance I get is barely over 300.

My bro is doing the same and he's getting 500+ range for supercharged jumps.

We have very similar builds and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

Here is the route I have plotted from my current location:
https://spansh.co.uk/exact-plotter/results/593E66BC-85CC-11F1-B1E6-AF47A6B7484F

And below is by build. As a side note, the Opt EMPTY slot 5 is actually my MK11 hangar that contains my Nomad. I forget how to edit this but it makes virtually no distance when I do, so I don't think that is quite relevant.

https://edsy.org/#/L=Jl8dcBRf0H4C0S00,mpYJrO05,mpXCjw05,9p815AAAH56m_W0AROG55G_W0AiZG55J_W0Aty05BAi05BRuG52m_W0BeE15,,53c050PA050AA1534a057Sk05mpT08c151LU05072150KU052jwG59G_W06e4050nG250nF25,Colonial_0Sanders,w_A_A_A_Ar

Can you help? My max range is somewhere below 80 but surely I should be getting way more than just over 300 ly max?

Thank you!

Jumping to Colonia Currently. Range Issues!

I am using Spansh with my ship build to calculate the route to Colonia. It has mostly worked great, but now I have hit a snag. My ship current range is 516.30 ly after charging from a nuetron star. The next hop according to Spansh is 508 ly, but it is plotting 2 jumps. I have no idea why. I repaired my FSD to 100% thinking that was the issue but no. I recalculated Spansh using 1ly less and I still can't seeme to jump beyond 503 ly or so. What am I doing wrong?! Appreciate the help. Thank you!

This exploration expedition has been boring and pointless. Losing interest. Need new things.

Just passed from Ryker's Hope into Arcadian Stream after swinging by Sag A. I'm currently Elite Explorer III and Elite Exobio III.

When I went on my first exploration expedition, I found all sorts of awesome things. Lagrange clouds, bark mounds, clypea, electricae, other neat things.

Yes, I undestand certain bio signals can only be found under certain conditions and in specific areas. But I like to just hop and go. I find trying to "go" someplace gets old, fast.

Here lately, it's been NOTHING but bacterium acies/tela, frutexta flabellum/fera, fungoida setisis, stratum paleas/limaxus, fonticula campestris, tussock propagito/pennatis/cultro, tubus compagibus.

NOTHING but icy bodies and rocky bodies. I've spent the past few weeks hopping from Sag A thru Ryker's and into Arcadian and I am BORED as F. I rarely even stop anymore, even if there's multiple bio signals, because I already know what they're going to be. They're never anything different anymore, so why bother?

What happened? I remember when I first started playing back in 2015-2016, with just a DBX and an un-engineered FSD drive, I spent almost six months on my first expedition to Sag A and I found all SORTS of awesome, unique-looking things. Now, it's the same sh!t over and over and over and over and over and over.

Am I going to have to fundamentally change how I play? Stop just "going wherever" and go where everyone else has already been? What's the fun in that?

Found a planet that runs away from me.

If you can't hear me in the video, this planet has an orbital period around its star of 1.2 days, which means you can physically see it moving if you are outside of its sphere of influence. I had to chase it while scanning it with my surface scanner.

Caspian build with Nomad - Should I make any last minute changes?

Here's my Caspian Explorer build

I am just about to leave the bubble to explore for the first time ever, despite being an experienced player. I've done zero Exo too obviously, so I have so much to learn.

My plan is to visit Colonia first, then on to Sag A, then just anywhere after that really. I haven't quite got a plan. I do have a Nomad and a Scarab with me too. Should I make any last minute changes before I leave Jameson Memorial? Thank you!

Exploration and Exobio with the Caspian/Nomad combo. Questions for my Caspian build.

After quite some while in the black with my carrier and doing exobio in a Cobra Mk V, I'm finally back in civilization (Colonia).

I bought the Caspian Explorer, fitted it for some quick get-out-there exploration and shelled out the Arx for a Nomad. Currently in the process of engineering it, to get this build: https://sh.orbis.zone/ttZg0H8g6C

Now I'm wondering whether I should get the 7A MkII gravitational Thrusters or not.

Because my intended usecase is to get to a planet, get to the surface as fast as possible and then deploy the Nomad to collect the biosamples.

If I understand the MkII grav thrusters correctly, their main advantage is on high G planets. But as I'm not interested in finding and landing on these planets, I prefer to get the 2 to 3 LY jumprange of the 7D Thrusters.

Am I missing out in my case?

Edit: The best solution would be getting the Mk II Thrusters and only engineer them to G1 dirty/clean with the stripped down experimental. That would keep my build shy above 80 LY single jump range, while having the benefit of the stronger thrusters. But... I just realized that the nearest station I could buy them is about 11k LY away from Colonia, so for the time being it's going to be the 7D thrusters anyway lol.

Edit 2: that‘s the build I‘m going for now:

https://sh.orbis.zone/9Iozm6AvCK

Edit 3: That's the finalized build: https://sh.orbis.zone/xAEhopOAda

Decided against ablative armour and the mkII thrusters. Holy moly, ablative armour can make for some... interesting... atmospheric entries. Out in the black I can do without the planet jumping at me, haha.

Decided to keep the 7c fuel tank. It could become importatn for SCOing to very far planets (>350k ls out).

I am pretty content with how that turned out.
