Discussion A way to find Raxxla?

First, I should mention that most of what I'm about to say comes from Rispowne's video, along with things I've read on Reddit and the Frontier forums. I don't know whether every part of the story is 100% accurate or fully proven, so if I've misunderstood something, please let me know.

From what I've gathered:

  • The two planetary diagrams shown on the Thargoid map have already been identified and researched by the community. However, from what I understand, the right-hand system may not have been explored as thoroughly (although I could be wrong).
  • The central artefact eventually pointed toward the region where the first Thargoid discoveries were made.
  • If that's true, then at least part of the map appears to have corresponded to real in-game discoveries rather than being random artwork.

If that's the case, what if the remaining unexplained parts of the map still haven't been fully interpreted?

One thing that stands out to me is the repeated signal-wave symbols ()))) between the planetary systems and the large circular gridded icons. I've seen some people interpret those signal-wave symbols as communication arrays or similar devices.

That made me wonder if the map is actually describing a chain of signal-based discoveries, rather than pointing directly to a destination.

Another thing I've been thinking about is DP Sayre's investigation.

After becoming the first commander to discover the Thargoid structure and placing all three Artefacts in their correct positions, DP Sayre ejected the third Artefact (the one represented in the center of the map). It then pointed toward Aries Dark Region XU-O b6-3, where he hyperjumped, ultimately leading to what became the community's first major Thargoid discoveries.

However, from what I've seen in Rispowne's video, there were still roughly 13.x light-years remaining on the projected route before the community's attention shifted almost entirely toward the Thargoids.

So here's my question:

What if the community stopped following the original breadcrumb trail because discovering the Thargoids became the new focus?

What if that wasn't actually the end of the trail?

My interpretation of the map is that the Thargoid-related symbol isn't the final destination. It's positioned below the large circular symbol at the top of the map.

If the map is meant to be read as a progression, then the Thargoids may simply represent another step in the journey, while the top symbol represents the final destination.

This is where my speculation begins.

Could that final destination be Raxxla?

I'm not claiming that "the Thargoids are protecting Raxxla"—there isn't any evidence to support that.

Instead, I'm wondering whether the Thargoid encounter unintentionally diverted the community away from the original breadcrumb trail. If the third Artefact's route was never fully followed, perhaps the map was always intended to lead somewhere beyond the first Thargoid discoveries.

Has anyone ever gone back and reconstructed the original hyperjump route from scratch, intentionally setting aside the Thargoid discoveries and following the route all the way to where it was originally supposed to end?

I'd be interested to know if anyone has ever attempted that.

I'm fully expecting there may be information I've missed or misunderstood. If this theory has already been investigated or disproven, I'd genuinely appreciate any links or explanations.

I'm not trying to claim I've found a way to Raxxla. I just find it interesting that part of the map appears to have successfully led players to real discoveries, yet the symbol at the very top of the map still seems unexplained. It makes me wonder whether the Thargoid discoveries were an important milestone—but not necessarily the final destination the map was ultimately pointing toward.

Video Weird visual glitch when standing at the North Pole

While doing some exobio out in the black, I happened to notice (thanks to the new gridlines visible in Analysis mode, thank you FDev) that I was coming in directly above one of the poles of the moon I just finished scanning. For the hell of it, I decided to land nearby and get out and stand on the north pole. Then I noticed... this happening. As you can see from the video, whenever I walk directly over the pole, the terrain textures seem to twist and undulate under me. Very trippy.

Help How to find geological activities without relying on a color?

Upvotes

I'm colorblind of some sort (can't differentiate the color of blue/purple) and i researched how to find geological activities of a planet/moon and i found out that the geological activities has a distinct blueish green of some sort. Thing is i can't differentiate those color and i have been using SRV for like 30+ minutes and still can't find it. So how to find these activities??

Well fellow Commanders, I have done my duty and have delivered close to 13,000 tons of Beer. There should be enough to go around for all. I did keep 50 tons of said Beer for my self, but hey I'm worth it.

Discussion New Trader Route Decision Question

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’m fairly new and looking to do some exploring (the loose sense of viewing the galaxy) while buy/selling goods. I’ve gotten myself the ASP Explorer and have about 20 mil after putting in all the modules. I’m thinking of making my way to JACKSON’S LIGHTHOUSE. Ideally I want to buy/sell at three different points until I get there. What would be the best way to figure out what to buy/sell and where?

I picked 3 stops evenly spread out just from the galaxy map. I then used Inara to try and find stations near those stops and search routes. Most of what I found only had a 2-3k profit from my current system of Mitra to near Aelius. It seems slow to try to figure it out this way.

Here’s the three general systems I was thinking of stopping in: Start in Mitra, Aelius, Nialfi, 133 G. Canis Major, Destination of Jackson’s Lighthouse.

I’m wondering if anyone else has some suggestions?

Here’s a pic for fun!

Thanks!

Video Elite Dangerous' Greatest Community Story (Enigma Expedition), now updated after 8 years :)

Years ago, I followed the Enigma Expedition in Elite Dangerous, where hundreds of commanders came together to help CMDR DoveEnigma13 reach Colonia during his battle with terminal cancer.

While revisiting the story recently, I discovered an unexpected update that made the story even more meaningful: A Second Miracle.

So, I ended up creating a narrated cinematic video telling the full story, using Elite Dangerous scenery, music and ambiance, and footage from the event and location.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDFsTvMT50U

Hope you enjoy!
And if you can, any feedback is appreciated.

PSA PSA for all explorers: don't assume it won't happen to you too

Many weeks ago I spontaneously decided to make the trip to Colonia and Sagittarius A\* in my Krait Phantom without proper preparation. I just equipped a fuel scoop and swapped out parts to extend my jump range to around 35 ly.

But that's neither here nor there.

Two important lessons:

  • Sell all your stellar data every chance you get. Find the nearest carrier or station on Inara, EDSM or EDastro and make those waypoints on your journey. Don't do what I did and only sell data piecemeal and hold onto the rest so you can sell it in the bubble for reputation and influence. Don't assume that you won't get in any incidents. Don't assume you are more careful than those commanders making similar posts like this one.

  • Unless you have a ship and outfitting optimised for exobiology, avoid doing exobiology during these long trips. You might just make a CFIT (controlled flight into terrain) and loose 215 million credits (about 25 pages) of cartographic data…

PRAEA EUQ XO-I C9-21 is ready for construction. I stumbled upon it while exploring and decided I had to have it. This is gonna take a ton of work so anyone who might want to help, be a part of it, or just grab some easy profit is more than welcome to come and dump commodities here.

Misc How well explored is the other side of Sag A?

Basically as in the title.

I want to do a bunch of exploring and exobiology in the sparse moments I get between raising my newborn, so sort son out, make a jump, FSS system and DSS anything interesting, then log out to sort out feeding etc, rinse and repeat, but I don't want to do it anywhere near the bubble and the bottom side of the galactic map seems pretty saturated with explorers, but you never see many posts about going up top past Sag A into the area above.

Is it worth doing? I suppose it would be regardless for the relaxation part but I'm also still a brokie. My last bout of missions for profit resulted in as much income from bounties as it did outgoings in repairs, rearms and fines for the failed missions that timed out, so I spent a few hours fighting pirates to come out net zero and I'm not doing that again.

Discussion Filtering the contacts menu

Is there a gameplay or technical reason that Frontier has yet to provide filtering for the contacts menu? This has been a feature requested from the early days of the game. Seems there has been enough time since then, a?

Video Hey ho, let's go canyon racing!

Decided to have a break from SRV racing and took the Viper Mk III out for some canyon racing instead. Before it got adapted into an EDCoPilot time trial this course originally came from the Heathen's Havoc Racing group who I believe run these courses live with weapons hot and PvP not only allowed but actively encouraged. Anyway, as you'll see from the time trial leaderboard linked in the video I barely scraped the top 10. How the folks above me manage to find another 30 or 40 seconds I have no idea - insanely skilled pilots!

Misc What's so interesting at this spot in Kepler's Crest that it shows so brightly on EDastro?

Post image
446 Upvotes

Anyone know what's there? I see no POI, no nebula in game... As A long time explorer, I've always seen a blob on EDastro like this and there's always some POI, but here's nothing.

It's at Dryau Aec, Dryaa Hypai, Spliergh, Hyuept sectors.

EDIT: Solved! The Dryau Aec JF-A d11 system used to be where a DSSA carrier was deployed - DSSA Reignleif and later DSSA Right Ascension. There was a DSSA carrier in that system from June 2020 to July 2022, maybe there was another one before that, but I couldn't find any mention of it if that's the case.

EDIT 2: I got in touch with Right Ascension's owner and this is what he said:

June 30th 3306 was the start afaik and deployment in the Dryau Aec JF-A d11 system in Kepler's Crest with "DSSA Reginleif" (Cmdr Dreadtom) and I replaced him with "DSSA Right Ascension" June 29th 3307 (up until start of July 3308).

We then decided we wanted to use our carriers for other purposes since Kepler's Crest was already covered by this time with IIRC two or even three additional DSSA-carriers. When we deployed we were the only DSSA in that region.

So, both carriers are still in use and currently in or near the Bubble.

There were no carriers before us in the system or in the region of Kepler's Crest. We did initial scouting for a suitable system and found that one with an ELW, nothing special otherwise but we thought it had a central position in the region.

It seems noone was interested in taking over our spot there and therefore it remained unoccupied and unfortunately scrapped as a POI.
