Miscellaneous How has dragon ball influenced your life?

I belive everyone here has been deeply affected and influenced by dragon ball in some way and I'm curious how and why?

Personally dragon ball has been there for me my whole life and I learned many great things from it. Like not beeing cocky and knowing there's always someone better, and despite that still trying to better yourself and not giving up. It taught me the importance of hard work as well as rest. And In tough times I truly belive Goku's spirit helped me pull through.

So I'm interested in seeing if I'm not alone on this and if you could share your stories?

Question Which memory were wiped from 25th Tenkaichi Budokai (Majin Buu arc)?

After Majin Boo (or Kid Boo to be precise) was defeated, Goku wished to erase the memories of Majin Boo (likely including Babidi and his crew) from everyone on Earth with the sole exception of Goku's friends and family.

This begs a question of how many memory wiped from 25th Tenkaichi Budokai, which is still part of the arc.

Spopovich and Yamu were controlled under Babidi, played very important role during the Tournament, include severely damaging Videl and draining Gohan's energy, resulting majority of the competitors left, changed the format to Battle Royale.

After Mr. Satan won, Majin Vegeta killed several audience, yet 10 years later, Vegeta was able to participate in 28th Tournament without problem; though, Majin Vegeta was in Super Saiyan form and Piccolo was able to enter 25th Tournament under Ma Junior, despite that alias was already used in previous tournament.

Here's my guess of which memory were retained and wiped from 25th Tenkaichi Tournament

  • Kid Division [RETAINED]
  • Preliminary "Punch Machine" [RETAINED]
  • Yamu and Spopovich [RETAINED?]; their current status is unknown, but they most likely were not brought back.
  • Krillin vs. Pintar, Shin vs. Piccolo [RETAINED]
  • Videl vs. Spopovich [RETAINED?] - kind of awkward for Videl fan to see that remembered.
  • Gohan vs. Kibito (Gohan’s Great Saiyaman reveal, draining energy by Yamu and Spopovich, and majority competitors left) [RETAINED]
  • Battle Royale [RETAINED]
  • Majin Vegeta rampage [WIPED]

The only event from tournament that was wiped is probably Majin Vegeta rampage for killing audience.

What do you think?

Discussion Why do we all blame beerus for being lazy when we should really be blaming shin and the other supreme kais

We know that shin knew about beerus so he should have woken beerus up for destroying Majin buu or moro but he never seems to do that. Maybe one of the other supreme Kais could have woken up beerus for dealing with Moro but that never happens. I am not really sure why though cause this is a emergency and beerus isnt going to kill the supreme kais for waking him up especially there is someone who is trying to destroy everything in its path (cause that risks the chance of erasure by Zeno) or any threat that endangers beerus’s life. Yes beerus didnt kill freeza but he was planning on killing him instead goku did that for him

Discussion The most embarrassing debate from the fanbase isn’t kid Buu vs Super Buu, it’s Goku vs Majin Vegeta

Specifically the idea that Goku going SSJ3 would instantly revive Buu. So many people not paying attention to what they’re watching is completely wild.

Discussion Goten and Trunks and making them into mini-ku and Mini-geta

I will never understand why a lot of dbz fans best ideas with goten and trunks is just make them basic fighters like
Their pops, I’m honestly happy that goten and trunks are superhero’s it gives them more potential to do their own thing instead of leaching off their fathers.

Everyone in dbs (not humans) has their own path to follow and making them just go to beerus planet to get stronger is boring asf imo.

They could have a whole kamen rider esc story to where some strong villains in galactic patrol or demons from the otherworld come to terrorize earth and THAT could make them get more strong.

Discussion The Mandela Effect strikes again…anyone else notice this?

I swear, on my life, that opening of The Tournament Of Power arc had just one slight difference that’s messing me up. While i watch it now, the part where Goku shows his face through the aura then cuts through it uses the Kaioken red. But for me it’s always been the UI aura. Am i tripping or does this change toward the final episodes?

Discussion What if the current android 17 and 18 met future trunks timeline androids

So say that current android 17 and 18 were transferred to future trunks timeline when the androids killed all the z warriors and did all the rampage and killing and when they killed future gohan and so witnessed what their future timeline selves were like from first hand and what they did. What do you think would happen? I don't talk about in terms of strength as current 17 and 18 are of course far above them but more in terms of reaction as well as interaction between them.Do you think for instance that it would influence them or have any importance or not?

This is literally just a funny thought, but what is Frieza sounded like Ymza from Emperor’s New Groove? Think about it.

Discussion How come big muscles make ss grade 3 slower but big muscles don't seem to impact 100% frieza of max power roshi?

Title pretty much explains it, we get told super saiyan grade 3 is useless cause of how slow and bulky it is but then 2 big bulky characters who aren't usually bulky move just fine.

I imagine he could whip King Piccolo’s bum. He was toying with Goku on KK planet. So how would that go?

Analysis What if?

What would have happened if Goku married Bulma instead of Chichi btw? I for some reason was shocked that Vegeta married Bulma. Leave alone Goku and Chichi being set up together by Ox King. If they made their own decisions, what do you think would have happened?

Theory Theory: maybe in Dragon Ball “mutant” simply means having a biology that reacts to ki in an unnatural way

I’ve started noticing that whenever Dragon Ball uses the word mutant, it doesn’t seem to refer to a generic genetic mutation, but to something much more specific, individuals who are born with a natural synergy with ki, a biology that doesn’t follow the rules of their species and interacts with energy in an abnormal way.

Broly is the clearest example. He’s not just “a Saiyan born strong” he grows while fighting, matches characters with godly ki without training, fires ki attacks without stances, and basically has no defined limit. His body reacts to ki instead of just using it, almost feels like his mutation makes ki part of his metabolism.

Frieza is another perfect example, but with a different kind of mutation. He can change forms to suppress his ki, something no one else does naturally. His transformations are biological limiters (until his golden form). He’s the only character who can hide his energy through his anatomy, while Goku and Vegeta had to learn it as a technique. This implies Frieza has some kind of internal ki regulator or an instinctive understanding of energy that lets him modulate his power like a physiological function. And the fact that he reaches god-tier strength with just four months of training shows that his biology amplifies ki automatically because he achieved levels Goku and Vegeta only reached through training with an angel, and he did it through intuition alone.

Uub is different but still fits the same pattern. He’s not a biological mutant, but almost an “artificial” one: he’s born with godly ki (because it belonged to the Grand Supreme Kai) an energy that shouldn’t exist in a human body, yet he reacts to it the same way Broly reacts to normal ki. He grows mid-fight, adapts instantly, and can fuel Goku all the way to Ultra Instinct without knowing what he’s doing. he’s a human with innate synergy with a type of energy that should be impossible for his species.

The Ginyu Force is the “minor” version of this concept. They have weird abilities like time stop, unnatural durability, insane speed, perfect ki shaping (Jeice basically has Dragon Ball’s version of “six eyes” since his ki spheres are more refined and precise while still being strong) but they never reach divine levels. Their mutations give them specific advantages but they’re limited by their species’ biology and the fact that they don’t train. They’re mutants, sure, but with a much weaker ki synergy, like “lower-grade” mutations that can’t scale like Broly or Frieza.

TL;DR: Putting it all together “mutant” doesn’t just mean “born strong,” it means “born with a biology that interacts with ki in an unnatural way.” Broly and Frieza are the purest examples of this idea, Uub is the divine version, and the Ginyu Force is the minor variant. If that’s the case then the concept of a mutant in Dragon Ball isn’t about genetics, but about energy synergy so basically like a condition where ki isn’t just an energy you use but a fundamental part of your physiology.

EDIT: I forgot to add a few points that actually reinforce the whole theory. First of all Broly can sense ki without a scouter. Even if Z‑Broly isn’t canon, Super Broly clearly inherited many traits from him, so it’s reasonable to assume he can do it too. Broly was mentioned to be capable of Ki Sense in Daizenshuu 6, and even his debut film subtly implies it when he reacts to Goku’s presence inside Paragus’ ship long before Paragus or Vegeta notice anything. That kind of instinctive ki perception fits perfectly with the idea of an anomaly.

Second point: Guldo seems to be the only member of his race capable of stopping time. As far as we know, some individuals from his species might have mild psychic abilities, but nothing even close to Guldo’s level. And even Chiaotzu, who trained for years and has telekinesis, can’t manipulate something abstract like time. Guldo does it naturally without training simply because he’s a mutant.

Third point: when I talk about Uub as an “artificial mutant,” I mean that he’s the reincarnation of an artificial being. We don’t know if this is normal or if it’s a unique case, but it opens the door to interesting possibilities. If reincarnation preserves certain traits, then even a hypothetical reincarnation of Cell could retain his enormous potential and be considered a mutant as well. Uub already shows that divine ki can carry over into a new body, so the concept isn’t far‑fetched.

Discussion Ultra instinct or Ego what your pick

So i was thinking of Dragon Ball lately and i thought to myself between Ultra Ego ro Instinct what would i choose to use.

Personally IMO i think i rather choose Ego, i love the fact that it based on teh GoDs level of power and abilities, LOVE that it vegeta means of answering Goku UI mode, and on top of all THAT it show Vegeta Will.

So here my question to you all, WHAT would you choose? UI or UE?

Question About the adaptability of Saiyans…

Saiyans have shown to be able to adapt to specific conditions and the environments they grow up in, either through forms/techniques or long exposure to environments they’re raised in. (Saiyans’ nature strength from the 10x gravity of Planet Vegeta, U6 Saiyans losing tails for base power, Vegeta obtaining ssg and later forms from training/exposure to Beerus and god ki, etc). That had me thinking, could Saiyans develop special physiological traits unlike other Saiyans too?

Like considering Goku can fight in the upper atmosphere for can’t survive the vacuum of space, if a Saiyan spent decades on a planet with denser air or higher oxygenation, they’d probably have higher stamina and tolerance to Carbon buildup.

Using this principle, I think the Saiyan should be able to obtain a limited space travel for several minutes with their physiology or using a technique. Not by holding their breath (since the pressure will cause pulmonary barotrauma), but using a technique that seals them in a thin ki barrier, trapping oxygen and preventing decompression and relying on their acclimated body to fight in space for as long as possible and flying to a neighboring planet to refill on oxygen again.

Ofcourse this would require a subtantial lack of yelling

Theory A little theory: beerus used both ultra ego aura and ultra instinct principles way before it was shown in TOP,

When we saw beerus fighting buu in Both manga, battle of gods, and anime, we saw him dodging without any issue, with purple aura,

But the dodging thing was ultra instinct principles,

If look closely,

When buu tried to punch him, he dodged effortlessy, without any issue, not thinking, not moving himself, his body does the thing,

When he got mad at buu, purple aura flared up, something similar to ultra ego,

That means he can stack both on top of eachother,

Analysis Rewatching the Android 18 vs Vegeta fight has made me realize she's a much better fighter then he is.

Watching the fight, the entire time Vegeta has the power to beat her yet all she does is hold him off, extert him then rip him to shreds. He has the power, he lacks the skill. 18 sees it, Piccolo sees it and Vegeta sees it only when he's about to get that damn arm broken.

Which IDK, I always assumed the Andriods got around from simply being powerful. I've not rewatched Z in nearly 20 years. It's weird to say but at this moment 18 is weaker yet a better fighter then Vegeta.

Question How can Trunks' Birthday and Earths return to existence be the same day?

In Dragon Ball Daima's first episode they celebrate Trunks' 9th birthday but also Earths return to existence.

This couldn't really be right though? Trunks was already 8 years old in the Tournament. The Earth was destroyed the day after the Tournament took place.

When is Trunks supposed to have even been born exactly? In the Trunks saga supposedly set in August 764 he said he'd be born in 2 and a half years which would put his birthday at February 767 but then he wouldn't have been 8 years old in the World Tournament which took place in May 774.

Plus if his birthday was in February then it's again not the same day or even month when the Earth was destroyed.

Doesn't seem to add up.

Discussion What is your favorite of the unexplained alien races?

A bit of an odd question but there are obviously a lot of alien races that are unexplored or don't even have a name, to me it feels like a similar situation to star wars fans having a favorite glup shitto, so what is your favorite? Mine is probably the Snackians, I know they are only anime filler but I just really like their design, and I'd honestly like to know more about them.

Discussion Senzu beans feel underutilized.

I just noticed that during the run time of the show nobody has thought of just putting a senzu bean in their mouth, shooting an energy blast at the opponent and then just chewing the bean so they get their energy back.

Hell. just have Krillin force feed Goku senzu beans while he's beam struggling against someone.

I'm sure that there are plenty of other applications other than giving them to Cell.

Theory Is the Super Saiyan form truly exclusive to Saiyans, or does the golden appearance come from something else?

In Dragon Ball Super we see Golden Frieza, who gains a golden form through training, and he explains that he chose that color specifically to mock the Saiyans. This suggests he has a slight shapeshifting ability, where he can choose not only the form but also the color.

However, Gohan also mentions insects that can turn golden and gain a multiplier, so I wonder if maybe the Super Saiyan isn’t actually exclusive to Saiyans, but rather a form that many living beings could theoretically access but it’s just more common among Saiyans because of their S-Cells.

Maybe Saiyans have photosensitive hair and eyes, which is why their transformations change their hair and eye color like with Super Saiyan God and Blue and with techniques like Ultra instinct and Ultra Ego. So I’m wondering if an Orange Namekian is similar to a Super Saiyan (and maybe it could even be golden instead of orange, though that might be a reach). Maybe humans could develop a similar technique too? Also, Frieza has already shown shapeshifting abilities through his transformations, but they always kept the same color scheme. Golden Frieza is the first time his color changes completely.

What if Super Saiyan is actually a universal response to a necessity? Golden Frieza comes from intense training to defeat Goku and Vegeta (a necessity, since he had never trained before). Orange Piccolo comes from unlocking his latent power (a necessity granted by Shenron to defeat Cell Max). So maybe even Cell could have turned golden if he had the right necessity?

If this were true, what exclusive form would you give to Saiyans instead of Super Saiyan?

Discussion How Would You Rank The "Sequel Series" to the Original Dragon Ball/Z Manga?

Now that there has been a sizable gap of time since the ends of the original runs of the Super manga and anime, as well as the end of Daima, what are everyone's thoughts?

My ranking would be:

  1. DBS Manga - the sequel that had the most direct imput from Toriyama and felt the most true to all of the characters.

  2. DBS Anime - some of the highest highs (and maybe lowest lows) but would have been stronger if it wasn't rushed out the gate.

  3. Daima - very close to surplanting the DBS anime for me, but the continuity questions and wasted moments in the 3rd act of the story holds it back from greatness.

  4. GT - I enjoyed it as a kid, but it's fair to say that it has aged poorly next to actual competition to compare it to. It does deserve credit for a handful of emotional and well-written episodes, but there is too much "bleh" for most of the series.

Feel free to agree or disagree!
