is there an app or a website that gives you daily journaling prompts? It would be ideal if it were in app form so I can make a widget of it or not. I just would prefer an app. Bonus points if there are daily and nightly prompts on it. So is there an app or website that has those daily or nightly prompts? thanks

Hello, I am looking for an online journal. To keep things kinda simple, here is what I want:

-Free / Low Cost
-Usable in Canada
-Very customizable and aesthetic
-Looks like a physical journal, and you can just flip through an empty journal and customize it
-Absolutely NO AI! (or at the very least optional / Ai that can be disabled)

Think of someone who took a physical empty sketchbook (unlined journal) and just made that a website.

Close to a Google Doc or something, but formatted to actually look like a journal that you can edit.

From my understanding #2 is a premium feature. The reason I don't want to pay for this is because I already pay for google cloud and One drive.

Is there an apk I can download where I can back-up manually to my existing google drive or one drive?

Hey everyone,

I used to do this using a private instagram account where I only followed myself. It was easy as I was posting reels and I knew that with my passwords safely saved and all the different possibilities of gaining access to an Instagram account, my stuff was totally secure.

Even though that was a relief I realised that I didnt want meta having access to all my thoughts at any moment just like that and decided to stop uploading on there.

Therefore Im looking for an app / way (ideally with minimal effort) with which I can be totally certain that my files/journals are secure and there is no possibility of the app being taken down, having an issue with forgotten passwords etc.

Is there such a thing or should I just come to terms with the lack of privacy in this current age and continue using insta?

I’m looking for an audio journaling app that has a couple of specific requirements. I send a lot of voice messages to my friends and save them as audio files to my voice memos app for memories. I’d like to organize them in an audio journaling app. The issue I’m running into is so many apps only let you record directly into the app, and don’t let you upload your own audio files.

Another thing I’m looking for is the ability to then export those files once they’re in the app (so they’re not locked inside it forever.) The native IOS journaling app is close, but once an audio file is inside, there’s no option to save or export it.

Bonus points if the app is able to auto transcribe the audio message.

I’ve checked out a ton of apps like Untold, and I’m running into the same issue where they don’t let you upload your own files. Does anyone know an app that might fit my needs?

What are your thoughts on your own audio journalling process? I have had to switch from handwritten journaling to audio journaling. I’ve already got a good system that works for me in terms of keeping my audio journal, and so I’m not looking for how to do it or what apps to use or inspiration. Instead, I am curious about what audio journaling looks like for others, especially those who have transitioned from handwritten to (solely) audio journalling. I’m also interested in hearing how you archive (especially in a printed format) your audio journal, or if you don’t archive at all. This is surprisingly difficult to find online–most of what I’ve come across is why you should do it or how to do it. I don’t need that (I already know why I journal and what I get out of it and what journaling means to me). I think I want to know others are journaling in the same way and that I’m not alone in keeping an audio journal. Does anyone want to share how they audio journal or how your journaling changed when you went from a handwritten journal to an audio journal or how you preserve your audio journal? What would you share with others about audio journalling that you don’t often find online? I want to hear the experiences of others.

Im looking for/wondering if such thing exists...an app or web application, where you can journal online and then have your entries printed into a book maybe once a year or something. I know there's places that can do that with photos, but what about writing?

I don't just want to print them myself because I would like them to be bound somehow.

I love the lack of upsells and forced AI features. But this app has a long way to go to become a great app in my mind. Some thoughts -

1. Editing: the editing feels clunky and I am always struggling to add a title after I write the body of the entry.
2. The controls are floating and scattered all over. Everlog's implementation of liquid glass UI is average at best. I wish it was simpler and less scattered, especially on the iPad. Give me a real toolbar like a document editor has.
3. The On This Day view needs to be more interesting. Like give me ways to sort by attachments, and give me a calendar in this view.
4. The main list view could be more glanceable. It is very hard to tell the date / month for the entries when browsing through the timeline.
5. Make the app more cutesy and give me tools to reflect better. Not necessarily using AI, but some tools similar to Analog journals like questions for recording or reflecting would be nice.

I think Everlog is clean on surface but the polish of this app is lacking. Everlog looks like just another notes app with a few features sprinkled for journaling. I want Everlog to feel more like a journaling app and less like a generic markdown editor.

Just to be clear, this isn't a post bashing Everlog. Nor is this to say that Day One is better. Everlog has its own flaws, just like Day One and other apps.

After using Day One for 13 years, I’ve been using only Apple Journal since last April. Day One’s AI and pricing policy have something to do with it !

Although Journal still has its flaws and shortcomings, I really appreciate its integration into the Apple ecosystem and its design. 

But I’m wondering: between the two, which one is more sustainable, better at protecting my data, and easier to export ? 

Heavy cannabis use, stimulants, and extreme stress. Looking back, it feels like reading someone else's mind.

I use a journaling app (Journey) to help keep many balls up in the air (many ongoing projects), and make notes that I can review later and that will remind me of specific information I need to reference again. Incidentally, I use this journaling app in parallel with a note-taking app (right now, I am using Evernote and piloting Notesnook). My primary reason for using both is my need to be able to infinite-scroll daily entries (I can't do that with my note-taking app).

Unfortunately, the journaling app I use, Journey, does not provide true infinite scrolling. It provides infinite scrolling of daily snippets. I'd like to be able to read my journal as a continuous infinite scroll, including the full daily entries (not just the snippets) in the same manner as one can do it with a handwritten journal.

Do you know a journaling app that can do what I need it to do? These are my requirements specs:

• Multiplatform with Android, Windows, MacOS, iOS
• Solid syncing capabilities (Journey is supposed to sync but I run into constant problems with the Android version)
• Markdown support and file storage
• Infinite scrolling of the full journal entries (not only snippets)
• Does not require significant time in software upkeep
• Reasonable cost for a personal license is quite alright

A bonus would be an app that combines a full range of note-taking with all the above (In this case, infinite scrolling would need to provide the ability to be turned on for a specific folder). I imagine Obsidian might do all that with the right plugins, but I am leery of the software upkeep required. I am past retirement time and I figure that my tech capabilities will decrease with time.

Hi all. I'm new to journaling and trying to build it into a daily habit, and I keep going back and forth between paper and going digital. I haven't decided which way I should go, so I'd love to hear how people here actually settled it.

For those who went digital, what made you choose it over paper, and do you type or handwrite on a tablet? My main struggle is consistency, so I'm especially curious whether going digital helped you keep showing up, or whether all the apps and features started to feel like a chore and got in the way. I've also seen people mention a hybrid setup where they scan paper pages into something searchable, and I'd love to know if anyone here does that and likes it.

If you don't mind sharing, which app or setup did you actually stick with over time? And the bigger one: why do you journal? I've heard it helps you stay grounded and gives you a place to get thoughts out of your head before they pile up, and I'm curious what it really does for you day to day. *if* I can find anyone who can get to my livejournal (ladyinfidel), what is the best way to export it to dreamwidth? I know they have a connection between them but it's been reported here that it's way backed up too. Native from livejournal, is the easist to export as .csv or something else?

I've been trying to journal on my phone, since I haven't had the mental energy to really write anything physically and I feel my journal should only be used for important things.

I used to have a diary app on my old phone, but I lost all the data, and I didn't like it as much. Can you guys help me find a good one to start my digital journaling? The pictures above are the apps I've tried so far. I'm looking for one with a lock, mood tracker and the ability to upload images

Apparently I've been living in a hole, I had no idea English-speaking LJ is on its last legs and likely to be shut down soon (per a post five months ago: https://old.reddit.com/r/FanFiction/duplicates/1q3yw8c/psa_englishlanguage_livejournal_is_apparently_not/ ), so I hadn't made any recent backups.

Does anyone know if this is just a random downtime or if it's gone? I haven't tried to log in for the last month or so, so I'm not sure how long it's been down.

Edit: I found a Facebook post from four days ago saying the site is down for good. Darn, I should have been better about making backups.

1. Blog that could be more professional in the future. With own website address ecc. So I thought about blogspot? WordPress? Is there any community in these platforms? It's radę to find another bloggers and just read blogs of regular people ? Not only focused on social media career?

2. Because the second blog that I want to have it would be just my diary after moving in to another country. What you recommend? It would be nice to connect with another people. But it's still Instagram the best for it?

Lately I’ve been feeling more and more frustrated and disappointed with Apple, and I’m starting to seriously consider switching to a different device.
I’ve been keeping my journal on an iPad for several years now, and handwritten note-taking is absolutely essential for me.
Would you mind sharing your experiences? What devices do you use? Which apps would you recommend for handwritten journaling and note-taking?

I am an avid physical journal enjoyer. However, I also really like the feeling of typing. It’s just fun to do. I had a digital journal that I haven’t touched in a while, and I just didn’t know what to do with it. That’s when I came up with the idea of writing about my work. I’m in healthcare, so writing about my experiences on paper has always felt like a HIPAA violation. I’ve only really named the patients/residents I’ve worked with when I used to work at a nursing home. I wrote memorial entries when they‘ve passed. I just had a thought that it would be really helpful for me to write out my successes and failures professionally and wanted more privacy. So, I’m starting up my digital journal again, which has a password and code to get in. Has anyone else tried this?
