Discussion I built a free, portable SSD benchmark tool for Windows (AS SSD / CrystalDiskMark alternative)
Hey everyone,
I run ssd-tester.com, a benchmark database where I test M.2/SATA SSDs, external drives and USB sticks. Since AS SSD hasn't been updated in years, I ended up building my own benchmark app and I've now released it for free.
What it does:
- Measures read/write speeds for internal SSDs and external drives
- Portable single EXE, no installation, no ads, completely free
- Multilingual + Dark/light mode
- S.M.A.R.T. info
- pSLC cache analysis
- Works on Windows 10/11
You can compare your results directly against the benchmark database on the site, so you can see if your drive performs as expected.

It's still a solo project (currently v2.0.1), so I'd genuinely appreciate feedback, feature requests, bugs, weird results on your hardware, anything. Happy to answer questions here.
(Mods: I hope this is okay, it's a free tool, no ads, no account needed. If not, feel free to remove.)
