You can ask me anything but I don't remember everything, so no promises on the quality of answers. I will do my best, however.
Edited to add; I answered as many questions as I could get around to, leaving many unanswered, but will continue to answer more in the coming days. I skipped some of the longer ones because I felt they deserved more time and attention than I could fit into what's left of the evening. Anyway, I ask that you have a bit of patience with me as I come back and try to get through all of the questions. I will try to answer some every day.

Hello! I just started playing Daggerfall Unity on my new Bazzite machine. I'm actually loving the game and surprisingly, I'm super intrigued. All this after I didn't even spend like 30 mins on Daggerfall DOS when I first downloaded it on steam.
Quick question. I'm trying to find a mod to help with dungeon crawling. Like the other day I was doing a mage guild quest, I had find mummy remains. I must of spent 2 hours in a single dungeon trying to touch every nook and cranny to try to figure out where to go etc. Looking for torches for a hidden door, to unlock a door, turning wooden wheels that lead to nothing etc. I even used the `Tele2qspawn` and tried to backtrack to see if I can reverse figure it out. Though I still couldn't figure out what to do to get to the final room.
My question is, is there a sort of clairvoyance mod? I think it would be great for new players so they can know what to look out for in the next dungeon raidings etc.

We've moved to a more modern combat system, and it has evolved into a mix of Dark Messiah and Souls-like combat. The game still features an open world and a quest system that allows players to complete quests in multiple ways.
Do you think this is still something that Daggerfall fans would be interested in?

I tried creating a mage themed character today, but was dismayed that despite putting short blade as my primary skill, I ended up having a longsword. So I only had fists cause I made long swords prohibited items. Then for some reason I was unable to cast any spells at all. Which is weird because when I played DF on Dosbox years ago I think I had probably like enough magicka for like 2 or 3 casts before running out. I picked inability to regen spell points and figured I would have more magicka pool like a sorcerer. Then I also picked spell absorption general. Although I imagine darkness spell absorption is probably better since you’ll be in dungeons mostly which are counted as darkness I bet. And then I did multiple prohibited items to make skills easier to level. Mainly things I’d never use like shields. And I did immunity to poison and disease. Since I’ve read that they’re deadlier than poisons and diseases in the newer games.
But anyways, I have a few assorted questions.
Why did I get a longsword instead of short blade when I picked short blade as primary. I remember having an ebony blade way back in one play through on ms dos.
If I pick immunity to X and then critical weakness to X. Does the immunity override it?
Does declining quests from an npc have major disposition type penalties? Or they just say mean things to you and that’s about it?

For reference, I started playing Daggerfall because I wanted to learn more about the regions in it (High Rock/Hammerfell) prior to TES6, which I'm convinced will have at least one if not both of those regions. I'm pretty far into my playthrough so far, having joined the Mage's Guild and Dark Brotherhood, a bit over 12 hours in and while I'm enjoying some of the neat aspects of the game, I find myself realizing that I'm not really learning much of anything about the regions or lore outside of the obvious existence of certain things.
I haven't touched the main quest outside of talking to the lady who sent me a letter with a 30 day deadline, because I figured I'd need to be a decent level of strength before completing it. I think the main quest is "hand made" AFAIK, without going out of my way to spoil the experience, so that is on the list. However, things like the Mage's Guild and Dark Brotherhood being proc-gen quests over-and-over is getting a bit grating, as I'm not only not learning anything about any of the characters (which may or may not also be proc-gen) but I'm also getting the same quest with mad-lib character and dungeon name at this point. I've reached the rank of Slayer, without much change in the quests that are available (X made us mad, kill in dungeon Y). I knew there was proc-gen in the game and I knew it was prevalent, but I figured some of the content would be canon, but maybe it's just a matter of the timeframe of the game.
I'm well equipped AFAIK, and I recently became a wearboar, so I'm just completely indestructible in some dungeons with truly ridiculous speed, accuracy, and damage compared to before I turned (which is crazy, cause I felt pretty strong before that too).
Should I just do the main quest and read a ton of the books in the game for this goal? Or are there any other canon quests that I should seek out?
Also also, are there any regions other than Daggerfall that are worthwhile to visit in your opinion?
P.S. I'm enjoying my time with the game and I accept it for what it is, given limitations at the time, I just want to know generally what exists so I don't just spam quests hoping for something that won't happen and waste my time.

I have the game on steam. But I also wanna get like the DRM free download. Kinda like with Gog. So where are some places for it that won’t be from “shady” sites.

simple question, what race do you all think gives the monk the best chances?

Slowly getting through Journey to Aetherius and encountered this statue which should have been the Sheogorath flat.
Anyone encounter this before?
Must be a mod conflict.
Thanks

I can't even find what this is called to Google it but does anyone know how to remove that center parchment paper that tells you your actions?

Hey guys, moving forward from Arena, I'm here in Daggerfall as a first-time player. I like the option now to properly rp as a thief unlike the first game, but we'll see how it goes. It'll be nice to hear from you guys, particularly about stealth, the wiki is abit confusing for me.

I'm almost 100% certain that this is a modded quest from a collection (though every quest mod in the pack mentions nothing of it). To begin i talked to ol' sugar tits herself and she wants me to go to Hawkton Court in Menevia which does not exist as far as i can tell. Am i going to have to explore the overworld for a modded location? 😭

Hi all,
Im having quite the frustrating time getting my PS5 controller set up. For one, it doesn't register each button as independent - for example, it might think the left trigger is 'Joystick7+ Button5' - meaning whatever it maps to 'button5' (perhaps X) is unusuable because i get the multiple bindings warning.
I also am unable to use the controller to navigate the start up menu for some reason. I am attempting to turn a mini PC into a console so that i can run some of my favorite PC games using just a controller, so the idea is to not need a mouse or keyboard at all.
Has anyone else done something similar? Any luck setting it up?

I'm already level 5 and nothing has happened so far, no one has sent me a letter, and besides the visit with Lady Brisienna, the only quests I've done were the guild quests (I'm currently in Sentinel). What's going on? Is this normal?

Couple of questions about using Daggerfall Unity.
Are there any unofficial patches I'm supposed to install before going Unity? I just slapped DU 1.1.1 on top of the bog standard GOG edition. No mods, no patches. Is there anything I would benefit from installing? There's quite a list of unofficial patches and stuff on the wiki, but I don't want to clog the game with stuff DU would render obsolete or redundant.
I turned off the DU launcher but now I want to bring it back. How do? The message box said something about holding the Shift key, but I guess I wasn't really paying attention.

I would like to preface this by saying that I am not a Programmer. I do projects with arduinos and such, but that’s it. A substantial amount of the code for this was written by Claude AI. I did hand write the dialogue, write the music, and did a lot of pixel art, but everything else was not done by me. With that out of the way, I would like to present:
Stormcrown- a fan made TES project
This project started out as a simple question. What if there was an elder scrolls game that played like classic fallout? I started by storyboarding the game, which is based on the rise of Tiber Septim. You are one of his emissaries that he sends around Tamriel. I chose this time period to tell my story because it one of the times the brass tower walks, and the dragon breaks. I felt like this would give me a lot of narrative freedom to tell the story I want, and it lets me believe that the game exists in my head cannon, as a dragon break makes things non-linear. I could go on and on about my vision with the project, but this is it put simply. I’m sure there are problems with the lore, bugs in the game, and a variety of other problems.
I was hoping to get some feedback, as I am only a single man, it would take me incredibly long to test everything. If anyone actually plays it, please give me feedback in the comment. I’m looking for any and all notes.
